What should we do for the right wing if we don't get Sancho in the upcoming window?

Perisic can cover for both Greenwood and Rashford, give some added experience in front also, which we definitely lack. He knows how to win, and won’t be slacking tracking back, which Rashford and Greenwood can greatly learn from.
He just learnt what German efficiency is all about this past season!
Yeah I like Perisic. Good crosser and two footed as well. Probably not good idea for a permanent deal but one year loan is good I think.

As far as I know Inter doesn't need him anymore simply because Conte prefer his 352. However they're looking to sell the player not loan I think. Probably for around €20m.

The media quotes Inter is hoping Bayern will buy for €15m, which is a given in today’s market. If that turns out to be true, Bayern will again have gotten another bargain, like they always do.

Ousmane Dembele.

Thats the only option I would take. And I think it might happen. Messi goes. They get sancho. We get Dembele.
Right age and get him focused on physical health. He will be fine

Yeah, Bayern is really smart with their transfers. However imo if we want him we still have a chance. Bayern probably wants him only as a backup while we can offer him more playing time I think.

I like the idea of getting 3 players in rather than just Sancho. If we spend it wisely and get Thiago, regullion and dayot for the same amount of money, it would represent strength in depth and upgrade our current options. For the RW we could try and get Coman on loan or Douglas Costa. Wouldn't mind perisic but defo not Bale. He lacks the motivation we need to challenge for the league.

Coman and Costa are poor options for cost/fitness/productivity reasons

Dembele would cost 70-80m+, is injured every 5-10 games and misses so many games its either a mind or physical issue

If we buy other players this year for the RW, I dont see us getting Sancho

Wouldn't want to spend the money on dembele that's why I never considered him an option. Sancho would be the dream signing but if it means we get 4 signings for the price of one I'm all for it. Every name mentioned is an upgrade on what we have. Regullion brilliant cover for Shaw, thiago just oozes class and whilst has injury problems would be an amazing acquisition. Coman or Costa on loan would be smart business and provide an option on the RW. If we get no one in at all then it will be a long season for fans

If we can't get Sancho, and if he seems at least reasonably fit, I would not be averse to a 1 year loan of Gareth Bale.

Signing VDB, Brooks and Thiago for the price that Sancho would've cost us seems like a good way to stick two fingers up at Dortmund, and Liverpool, to be honest. We'd still be able to look at a CB and maybe even a LB too.

My only issue is the fear that Brooks would become Dan James 2.0, i.e. great start but we rely too much on him and his performances drop off astronomically.

The thoughts of not getting Sancho are depressing. We should just pay the asking price and we get a world class talent that's 20, in a position we've been crying out for quality for years. I'd rather have one top class match winner than go and buy 2/3 squad players with the money instead.

It was a reference to another comment above :)

If no Sancho:
1. Coman for 45m
2. Bale on loan
3. Douglas Costa for 15m

Does Costa's age and being injury prone not worry you but then having said that £15m is nothing in this market.

My worry with Bale would be how much of his current wages are Madrid going to be willing to subsidise though.

Think Coman would be quality but be very surprised if Bayern let him go with Perisic already off.

Costas output would worry me even more than both those major issues.

bale will cost about 20m for a loan fee

Can't see us getting Coman from Bayern

It is for everyone’s benefit to have Bale at Madrid milking them dry for nothing - let it last for as long as possible. Coman will not be sold (he started Champions League final and scored), and Costa is just shit

Perisic 12m
Reguilon 20-25 mil
Thiago 25 mil
Upamecano 50-55 mil

and sell as much deadwood as possible

Thats if we dont go the Sancho route

Like many have said, we should probably continue with Greenwood. He’s been playing well and scoring from there, and I wouldn’t want to stunt his develop by benching him for someone who doesn’t even have the same potential as him.

The problem isnt about if Greenwood is good enough. We cannot keep playing Rashford, Marital, Greenwood every game.

We still need to sign a winger. The drop off in quality between Greenwood and James is too big.

Don't get too invested in the Thiago stuff would be my advice as I made that same mistake in 2013

Loan in Dembele and see if he can stay fit and work on his attitude. He wouldn't have as much pressure as he did at Barca and is versatile in that he can play through both sides, while adding loads of quality if he stays fit. If not, oh well it was only a loan anyways.

Dembele loan with option to buy is no brainer. He is an amazing talant he is actually maybe more talanted than Sancho. We defintely should try to get him if we can't buy Sancho now.

I’d go for Perisic, preferably on loan, although to be honest I have only ever seen him play on the left.

Personally I would be happy with either him on loan or Coman on a permanent deal as Romano is reporting that Perisic is joining Bayern on a permanent deal and with Sane coming in maybe he would be interested in joining a club where he can make that RW spot his own.

Assuming that Sancho is not coming this year but next one, we shouldnt get a player for the LT.

One solution would be to get a player on loan or a young one like James, but I don't think that can be suitable for next season.

I actually think that if Sancho is not coming, give the RW spot to Greenwood, and let him share it with James or change the team to a 3-5-2 to get an extra defender instead, or play diamond with VDB.

It seems that we are ready to pay 80M upfront for Sancho, so we can't splash 40M on Brooks or anyone.

Bale's case is too difficult, as he can do the job for few weeks, but it was a long tine he was not a starter week in week out, so really to a big gamble to take

Bale is very much PL proven but feels like he hasn't played competitive football for absolutely ages

What loan options are ther instead of Sancho? I think that if we spend good money on a CB next then we will be looking for a temporary fix/loan for the RW. I just cant see us spending the money being reported on him now.

I said in another thread that we possibly need 2 attackers anyway. Rashford has zero backup/competition. Ighalo is off in January and James isn't good enough right now. Greenwood needs to be managed properly too, not run into the ground by playing every game.

Know it sounds mad but would honestly take either

Dembele (loan with option to buy)
Coman
Bale (loan provided Real are willing to foot some of his mental wages)

Quoted at 12-15 mil, i would buy him.

besides, Rashford has to competition and backup. Perisic can cover for both wing

Sounds like Bayern are going to make his deal permanent
Yes sadly, because we dont like this kind of bargain. While Bayern is stacking up with Sane, Gnabry, Coman and possibly Perisic, we have Greenwood, Rashford and James.

For those questioning if Perisic can play rw, when Mourinho was in charge, he was our main rw target.

he is efficient on both wings and is comfortable with both his feet.

I understand that. But I’m hopeful James will improve.

If we can't get Sancho this window then maybe we should try and get Rayan Cherki and go back for Sancho next year? Cherki's a fantastic talent. Him and Sancho in the same team would be sensational.

Why not try Dalot as a RW? I have a feeling he will be fantastic in that position. He possesses all the necessary skills.
