Which is more important: a top striker or a top right-winger?

Cavani had recently showed how a top striker can improve us but he's not a long term solution.

The right-wing position has been neglected for years but a real talent there could bring more joy for whoever plays up-front.

This is not just about Sancho and Haaland as we may have to consider other options.

At the moment a right winger. Put Greenwood at striker.

If Cavani showed this season he can still bang on goals consistently, then Sancho next season, and Haaland the season after when Cavani leaves.

If not then all out for Haaland next season.

A right winger. Our play is horribly one dimensional. Rashford, Cavani and Greenwood are good enough strikers. Not a single player is a good enough right winger.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Agreed. Add a pacy CB and a Pogba replacement who can pass the ball forward whilst also being solid defensively to bring balance to our midfield and the rebuild is complete. We’re 4 players away from being a very good team.

Whether it's a CF or a RW doesn't really matter as long as he scores goals consistently and isn't wasteful. He should be a goalscorer first and foremost. Seeing as we have such quick forwards, a CF would probably be a better option. But there aren't that many great CF's out there. Haaland is shaping up to be one of the most valuable players in the world. If I was given the opportunity to sign any player in the world, then he'd probably be my first choice.

Striker all day long. Look at our conversion rates. A world class striker would’ve had close to 15 goals in all comps already.

Haaland + a decent winger is ten times better than Sancho + a decent striker. We have more than enough of the so called decent strikers already, they won’t take us anywhere.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
We've got good options and Diallo to come. Nobody has a prefect squad and I think the need for these positions to be filled is overstated. Ideally we'd have got Sancho, for example, but that would have just given us an absolute wealth of options, rather than plugging a glaring hole.

I'm still baffled by the posters who are happy with our attackers.

In 2 years and 3 transfer windows we've sold Lukaku and Sanchez and replaced them with a Championship prospect, an unpolished kid from the academy, a loan signing from the Chinese league and recently Cavani. It's an improvement, but is this really enough to challenge for the PL or CL? Rashford and Martial aren't that good.

Has to be a striker. We have new faces fast approaching for the wing and we have creative players now who can open up defences.
What we don't have (Cavani excepted) is a proper number 9 who will be around for several seasons ahead.
Some will say Greenwood is that player but he's got a big question mark over him and Cavani has shown already that buying the finished article makes sense in our situation.
Sell Martial and Pogba to fund a top CF.

Neither. What we need is a top DM. If the base of the midfield is quality then everything else will work for us.
We cannot keep neglecting this position along with RW because never going to progress otherwise

A top striker please. One injury to Cavani and we are fecked. Martial and Rashford are not proper Center forwards. A good center forward is crucial to our play and it’s no wonder Fergie always paid the big money for them.

Greenwood and Rashford can compete for the RW spot.

I think we need a proper DM first, it will give us a lot more tactical flexibility

after that, right winger

Anyone who can score goals 20+ league goals a season, don't care the position.

Yeah pisses me off we aren't really pushing for a Zakaria type signing when we really need it

Losing to Comeback Winning!
Top younger striker.
Alternatively get another old or prime age top class striker, to alternate with Cavani.

Targets?
1. Haaland, trigger his release clause (if any).

2. Raul Jimenez!!!!!
 Get him!!!!! But this is only more possible next summer.

3. Giroud. Recent speculation is Chelsea willing to let him go this January.

Why not RW?
I always like the idea of Rashford at the Right Wing. We already got his similar potential on the left - Martial. None of them are good at the centre consistently. Then Greenwood to alternate between the two. Plus, we also got plenty more younger wingers that are far better on the left eg. James, Chong (maybe), Diallo + Pogba & VDB if we had to. Then only Pellistri a natural right winger.

CF is slightly more priority than RW.

Didn't Jiminez just break his skull? He's close to retirement after an injury like that.

Both, since we don't have either. Cavani has fitness issues, if he does a Zlatan that will be amazing.

Would have to see how well Raul recovers from a potentially career ending injury suffered last Sunday

Winger. We can make do at ST with Cavani, Martial, Rashford, Greenwood.

At RW we are really thin and its square pegs in round holes out there, Mata, Greenwood, Rashford, James.
Can we still trust tony as a striker

Rashford should not be seen as a first team player for a team wanting to win the PL and CL.

His just not intelligent enough, we've seen time and time again his decision making isn't any better now then It was in 2015. I like and would keep him as a rotational player for the attack.

Summer 2019 we needed a right-back, a right-winger, and a controlling midfielder. We got a right-back.

Could argue VDB offers some form of control and signed two RW prospects but needed a starter for that position

How is everything needs to be long term solution.

Player have a shelf life of 10 years at their top most of the time. Why bother spending 5 years just to get a small chance of them becoming great for 5 years when you can just buy a great player for the same price.

Martial has shown he looks like he's hit his ceiling, and we already wasted 6 years of our time blooding him. We need to be more ruthless as a top team. We're too sentimental for our own good

I'm not saying we shouldn't invest in youth but they should be a nice side punt and not the meat of our investment.

VDB seems to have been signed as a 8/10 - we have Bruno and Pogba who can play both those positions. We needed a Carrick-type passer/defensive midfielder.

Remain hopeful that Zakaria is a serious target if he can prove his fitness

Be nice to buy more than one decent player like.

If Cavani can stay fit for a few seasons though, RW is priority, along with a midfielder probably, and a CB.

Fergie always had a soft spot for strikers. He may neglect other positions but rarely passes the chance for a top striker, even if we are supposedly stocked in that market. (Look at his last season when he brought in Van Persie)

I tend to follow what Fergie usually does. What could possibly be wrong? Also frankly speaking, I'm sick of seeing Martial leading the line.
