Haaland, De Bruyne and Salah is the obvious and correct answer.

Voted the best city in the world
DDG
Dalot - Varane - Martinez - Shaw
Casemiro - Bruno G
Saka
- Bruno F - Rashford
Haaland
Not many could improve on those choices

Other notable shoutouts: GK (think Allison would be my first pick), RB (Reece James if he could stay injury free - we've had enough sick notes) and possibly AM (Odegaard)

The rainbow's end
  1. Allisson
  2. Kane
  3. Bernardo Silva
Bernardo to deep the deeper press resistant CM playmaker. There's actually not many who would fit us that well. Kovačić, bentancur, Gundogan, Thiago... Bernardo Silva is the only one who isn't past his prime or is good enough. 2nd weakest position for us.

Kane over Haaland as I think he is a better all round player. Haaland scores more goals but also IMO funnels goals away from others a bit so it distorts the totals - hard to see if it's still worth more than Kane or not but not IMO (at least not for just immediate couple of seasons). Easily weakest position.

Allisson is the best GK in the world, has been for a while, and that's our 3rd weakest position. No brainer here. Ederson is great with his feet but mediocre with a lot of other aspects.

Very tempted for Saka, but I'd have hope for Antony/Sancho if we got these 3 in to kick on.
Is the correct answer. I always liked B. Silva since his Monaco days. Such a neat footballer.

Allison is trying to keep Liverpool alive on his own this season. When it comes to what the managers look for in a modern GK, he has the whole package.

I agree with your line of thinking about Haaland. It's not that he doesn't have the body type or the quality to link up with others. But City were already scoring an incredible amount of goals ( close to a hundred p/s) without him. His presence means that these goals are going to be distributed in a different way more than anything else.

It's like when Dybala had a 20+ goals season and when Ronnie arrived, he was reduced to less than 10. Or, to use another "nearly perfect" team from a different sport, when you are the GSW, dominating the NBA by scoring as much as 130 points p/g, and you add Durant, who averages 30 p/g, it doesn't mean that you are going to be scoring 160 points p/g. Nobody does. It means that the shots will be distributed in a different way.

It's true that Rashford, and Bruno to a certain extent, thrives on the spaces in-behind the forward's movement creates for him. The main issue is that Martial is always injured and that he is very timid as a forward. He does the work deeper, but he rarely attacks the box afterwards. Kane solves that.

I have been impressed by Saka (he also had a good WC), but Arsenal are firing on all cylinders right now. Whenever he gets on the ball and cuts inside there are overlaps, underlaps and people attacking the box to offer him options and take away defenders from him. Sancho and Antony haven't set the world alight, but they also haven't been afforded such luxuries thus far.

Non-Top 7*, 3 different teams version:
(Newcastle are in, an Isak, Bruno and Botman every 2 years and whatever good Prem players are running down their contracts or just clever signings like Burn or Callum Wilson, they'll be Spurs without Harry Kane level soon),

Rice - cover for Eriksen, Casemiro and Varane in one fell swoop, and he could start lots of games as the #8 and then Eriksen comes on after an hour to win it.
Toney - Probably the best striker back to goal outside the top 7, don't think we cross nearly enough to optimize Mitrovic. Rodrigo would also be quite good in our system, he might be as good as Toney is for us for the next 20 months, which is to say better than Martial and Weghorst but not a star.
Sanchez - Passes, sweeps, commands his box, probably will be in the top 15 or 20 keepers around for the next 7 or 8 years.

And Antony, Sancho or Amad has to be a quality starter at RW, but 1 out of 3 seems likelier than not!

Haaland is a cert but we'd need De Bruyne to actually find him. Put in Rodri and it's a Man City hat trick.

Declan Rice - combined with Casemiro would make us so tough to beat and to dominate in central areas
Bakary Saka - looks to be a superstar in the making and gives us another left-footed, right-wing option
Erling Haaland - no brainer really, feel he'd really suit our style too

I also think we'll look on Mudryk as a fantastic signing for Chelsea...but too early to put him in this list
