Hopefully Amad will be back in time for the semi final so to win this competition who do you think it will be at the expense of. Can see a few options and I'm torn between the best one.

1) Hojlund - Probably the weakest outfield link in our starting 11. Not sure who it would mean playing as a (presumably false) 9 though. Bruno probably the best bet but I think we need his creativity and influence deeper.

2) Garnacho - straight swap. Unsure about this one. I'd like to have 2 in our team that can take players on. Garnacho always a great option off the bench though.

3) Casemiro/Ugarte - Ditching one of the DM's to drop Bruno in and play Amad + Garnacho (or Mainoo) as the 10s.

4) Dorgu/Dalot - To allow Amad to play RWB. Think Dalot playing pretty well and better than Dorgu so would be unlucky to miss out but I'm not a fan of him on the left.

At this point I'd probably go with the below though it doesn't leave much off the bench. MDL v Maguire is another headache but think I'd go for the quicker option against the teams that are left.

Bruno
Garnacho Amad
Dorgu Casemiro Ugarte Dalot
Yoro MDL Maz
Onana

I'd ditch Garnacho and let him be the supersub off the bench. Play Amad and Mainoo/Mount behind Hojlund with Bruno in midfield next to Casemiro.

It's frustrating because if Zirkzee was fit then I'd probably keep both Garnacho and Amad in the team as runners off him, but with Hojlund you need players behind him that are able to retain possession since god knows he won't. And making up fake XI's where we don't play with a striker is pointless I think, Amorim won't do that.

Garnacho off the bench would be a great asset. Its sad to look at our bench and see no pace to bring on.

As long as he doesn't replace 'Arry as our striker, I am fine wherever he plays.

Definitely Garnacho. Also gives us the bonus of being able to bring Garncho off the bench (for some reason his best performances for us have been him coming on as a sub)

Well it would either be Amad and Garnacho or Amad and Bruno.

Effectively he will either replace Garnacho or Casemiro. Assuming neither Mainoo or Mount stake a claim on one of the 10 spots.

I feel like I described that in a really convoluted way but can't be bothered to change it.

Amad will probably be impact sub as I doubt he'll get up to speed enough to start.

But generally, Amad and Garna should be competing for a spot and the other can be an impact sub which is important too.

Dalot, it's currently too defensive with 2 CDMs as well. Funny thing to say after a 5-4 win, but that's what I thought when I see the line-ups.

Take Rasmus out, Amad in as a roving ten and move Garnacho up top … he has the speed and physicality for it and would probably score a few goals with his habit of shooting on sight

Dalot is not getting dropped. I presume Amad will go into the 10 role or be more of an impact sub. I highly doubt he’ll take Dalot’s place at RWB and if he did Dalot would be shifted to the Left.

Personally I’d like to see Hojlund taken out of the team for a bit, like Onana was. I’d like to see something a bit different but I’m pretty sure this won’t happen:

Onana

Dalot
Maz
Maguire(or De Ligt)
Yoro
Dorgu

Ugarte
Casemiro

Amad
Garnacho
Bruno

In reality, it will probably be pretty much the same line up as Lyon, with Mount and Mainoo coming off the bench, Hojlund and Ugarte being subbed and Bruno dropping into midfield later on.

I think he plays best at RWB and I'd start him there

Dalot always has a stinker in him

Apparently Amorim said he hopes to have Amad back by the end of the season, which sounds more like he would miss the semi and possibly be available for the final.

So back next season then

I would personally drop Dorgu, play Dalot on the left and Amad on the right

Whoever is RWB will provide help against Nico Williams.
Dalot has to play.
I'd play:
Onana
Mazraoui
De ligt
Shaw (he's our best LCB)
Dorgu
Casemiro
Ugarte
Dalot
Bruno
Hojlund
Amad

Yoro has to play. I wouldn't bother with Shaw. He can get Premier League minutes and build himself back up again in pre season, assuming that he can both stay fit and that we'll be unable to sell him.

Yoro is great but I genuinely believe if Shaw progresses on his fitness journey as planned, he's the best LCB at the club. He can basically do everything all the players who's played there can, and is better than them at other things.

Hojlund is a pointless but we don't have options, I think Amad plays as RAM and Garna ar the right, with Ugarte and Bruno in CM.

There is no way Amorim starts Amad in the semis, he doesn't do that with players returning from injury. If he is used it will be to try and change a game off the bench.

Physicality is one part where Garna really struggles. Don't think he would work down the middle.

Dalot or Ugarte->Fernandes in CM, for me
Yes, or maybe even Dorgu. I'm really no fan of Dalot but I've not really seen anything from Dorgu yet to suggest he's any better.
