Will we break our transfer record this summer?

If so, on who?

Looks like we want Pogba and he would easily break the £58m (was it?) on Di Maria.

Is there any other attainable targets that could break it?

Also could another club break the Premiership record transfer? Perhaps City on Aubemeyang?

I think United will sign James Rodriguez, but I doubt that would come close to £60m. Or at least it shouldn't.

Nope... Don't think we'll spend particularly big on one player. 38m euros on Mkhitaryan, Ibra on a free, 30m or so on Bailly... Probably similar prices for the other players we end up signing. Can see us getting a central midfielder at least, after that it depends on who is available. I'm sure Mourinho's priorities were striker, right wing, center back and a central midfielder. Not sure what center mid we will sign, but I can't imagine it being more then 30-40m unless its Pogba.

That 5th player we sign (if we do) could well be a marquee player though that we only sign if it becomes available and that would be the big signing.

If we break our own transfer record then we'll also break the world record, on Pogba. Otherwise no, there's no one else we'll buy who will cost that much.

I dont think so. The fee for Pogba seems to high. I dont think EW would agree to a fee close to 100 million. So I dont think there will be a record breaking transfer this summer. I expect ut to use a lot of money this window. If not Pogba I think there will be another big signing. Gomez has been linked. I hope Varane for 30-40 millions. I hope a new winger and I think it will be Mkhitaryan for 30-35 millions. A new midfield for 25-50 millions. Maybe a new sideback(R) for 20-30 millions. I expect Zlatan to be ready in the end of the week. He will not be cheap (vage). So I could see us using at least 100 to a 150 millions this summer. Maybe more depending on how much change Mourinho wants. I think there is a chance Mata and Fellaini will go if Mourinho gets the right players.

With regard to Pogba. I'd rather spend £100mill on two extremely desirable players than one who may or may not become world class. Plus it sits badly with me shelling that much for a player who turned his back on us.

If we sign Pogba then definitely as he'll cost more than Di Maria did but unless Bale, Greizmann or Neymar become available which is unlikely then no Pogba = no broken record.

He didn't turn his back on us, he turned his back on SAF and was right to do so. SAF had a problem with Pogba's agent so wouldn't play him. Pogba done the only thing he could do.

Second biggest mistake SAF ever made for us, but not the only time he put himself before the best interests of the club.

Hopefully not, unless we can get hold of Neymar or Bale somehow.

If we can convince Pogba, Neymar etc someone of that ilk to come we'd break it in a second.

Yer Pogba will defantly break thr club transfer record, and possibly Rodriguez and Neymar would if he left barca which won't happen this season and join us.

Would it count in add ons ? if Martial does all the things we hope he will break the transfer record, he is allready the highest transfer for a teenager in the world.

The only players who I think could break our transfer record are Pogba, Bale, Neymar and Messi (Mueller, Hazard and Suarez could come close).

As I don't think United will sign any of those - no we won't break our transfer record this summer.

If I remember correctly, he was offered a deal but he turned it down. Therefore he turned his back on us.

Don't think so. Would rather have 5 £30m signings in areas we need, than shoehorn one 70m signing into the side just because Mendes and Woody fancy a bit of dick swinging.

Given half a chance I'm sure Ed would love to sooth his ego with a record breaking signing. But persuading the likes of Pogba, Neymar, James etc to forego CL football for a year is easier said than done. Of all the big cllubs around Europe, United are probably the least attractive option right now. We're relying on Jose' pulling power and a bucket load of cash to entice them.

I'd be shocked if we managed to pull of a superstar signing.

30m on bailly, zlatan on a free, 24m on mkhitaryan. Id be shocked if our net spend was under 50m considering we are bound to sell a few.

I think a big blockbuster transfer is inevitable.

The road is my home.
Hopefully next year if the right player is available and we have the CL to offer along with a tidy stack of notes.

I really believe with Jose at the helm that anything is possible. I'd settle for the rumoured 60mil for this season on Pogba, if only to just the wet the beak for the big one next year!

What about 5 £70m signings we do need?

Not likely. We might pay £45-50m for James, but otherwise I can't see us coming close.

If we sign Pogba we will be breaking the world record. If we sign James Rodriguez/Kroos or similar then we could come close to breaking our own record.

I can see maybe one more major first team signing and may be one or two squad signings or youth players but the big marquee signing will depend on Pogba/Juve/Madrid.

Yeah, I can't see us signing Pogba but I can see us signing James (with RM then using the money to sign Pogba) - that might break our record, particularly with the pound now being so weak.
