Rob Shepherd is linking us with him in his DailyMail column today. On a free next summer so would be very cheap in January.

At a good age and I rate him personally. Could be a very good option for us.

Always kinda liked him.
For a defender, he has a great touch and great control

He's not bad, but we have enough CB's, we just might need one to lead the D. Logical signing for Arsenal as their 3rd CB though, if Wenger doesn't want to spend. Same sort of thing for Everton with Distin getting on.

He'd be a Koscielny or Mertesacker injury away from starting CL knockout games. So, basically, he'd be starting in a CL knockout game immediately after joining.

Being a Kiwi part of me would love to see a Kiwi at Utd however he simply isnt good enough for us. He has no left foot and is pretty full of himself. He is strong, good in the air, reasonably quick for a big guy but lacks the top end ball control we need.

Why? People berate Evans and Smalling for not being United quality but want inferior defenders? If it's for squad options, we already have Smalling and Evans for just that. We need a CB capable of being a starter.

He's been better than any of our central defenders in the last year or so. Personally I rate him highly and think that he can make the step up.

The Daily Fail, we all know they just link so many random players to clubs, that usually 1 in 20 of the deals actually happen

All the players we were linked to in the summer, and they daily fail had no clue on most of them until they actually where in Manchester

He's better than your average Premier League defender but he wouldn't really improve us.

Has been very good since the start of last season but I don't think he's Champions League quality.

Everton or Tottenham would be his absolute highest level and thats a stretch.

Wouldn't mind seeing a fellow Kiwi make it big at United, but I don't feel that he's good enough. He's been better than guys like Smalling or Evans recently, but that's not saying much right.

If the game was in China and Thailand I imagine that helped make the decision...

I rate Reid personally, but he doesn't exactly have an immaculate injury record himself. If he did I'd be all for us going for him.

He's a fairly good premier league CB

Not what we should be looking at even in perfect health. Europa league team instead

We've been linked with him for two seasons now. He's a good CB and will be better in a better side, I'd imagine.

I'd love to see more Aussies/NZ'ers at top clubs too.

He's okay, but if we are looking for CBs in midtable clubs, we should go after Vlaar or Shawcross.

As a New Zealander, I've seen a fair bit of him. He's athletic and good in the air but pretty limited on the ball. He's not good enough to be first-choice at a club with lofty ambitions but if he was available on a free perhaps he'd be worth getting as an extra Centre-back option, if nothing else.

It's fairly similar situation to the Ron Vlaar rumours - not top-class but would probably be handy given our current defenders' penchant for getting injuries.

He's a good defender.
Thatt's the thing, good isn't good enough! We're Man United, we should be going for the best defenders around or at least the best up and coming defenders, not a good West Ham defender going on 27! This is your typical Liverpool signing

Looks like he will move in January, everyone will be in for him at the price he'll be available for.

He'll go to Spurs, who'll sell Kaboul and maybe Chiriches.
