Sinclair actually claims that we can live in a very good health on extremely old ages. While he never explicitly mentions immortality, he does not see death (from old age) as inevitable.

Btw, this guy is not a charlatan. He has been professor at Harvard for 2 decades and has a three-digit h-index, which makes him one of the biggest authorities in the field. The fecker (and his wife) also look to be on their thirties while they are over 50.
Yeah he's one of the leading researchers in the field, at Harvard Medical School no less. I've been on his protocol for a while and just got an epigenetic age test back that has my biological age as 8 years less than my calendar age.

The bits from here to 15:55 are part of his main schtick

How did you do the epigenetic test?

Also, did you decide to take the medicaments he is taking? It sucks that he does not give brands, but only the scientific names of them, and considering how unregulated the supplement market is, it is hard to know what to really take.

And I'm all out of bubblegum.
There is more than a logical connection. Its been studied extensively at Harvard in rats and is now being applied to humans.
What specifically has been studied extensively at Harvard? Dog old so why not human old?

Obviously they're doing studies on how to extend a person's life, I just don't see what the dog has to do with it.

Sinclair recently started a company called TallyHealth. He can't really market it too much because he's still a professor at Harvard.

TallyHealth offers a service that measures your epigenetic age each quarter and provides results in 4-6 weeks. The service also includes a daily dose of most of Sinclair's recommended protocol of Resveratrol, Quercetin, Fisetin, Spermadine, and Calcium Alpha-Ketogluterate. Notably not included is an NMN supplement, but I buy that separately.

Interesting. My experience has been primarily with Labs, several of which developed forms of cancer once they hit double digits. I always suspected it was something related to the processed nature of dog food (as opposed to dog owners who actually cook real food for their dogs), and wondered if modulating their diet with healthier choices may significantly prolong their lives, just as it would if humans at healthy instead of fast food etc.
It's the same with Golden Retrievers, getting cancer after age 10. They are not living as long as they used to 30 or 40 years ago. It's rare now to see a 14 year old. Experts say it may be overbreeding and decreasing genetic diversity among purebreds and that mutts are the healthiest dogs.

For some reason, it is hard for me to believe that that dog is 31 years old.

There are hallmarks of ageing that occur in most animals, certainly among mammals that dictate the rate of ageing related to gene expression. The unit of analysis in Sinclair's work is a loss of epigenetic information which is broadly applicable to animals as well. Its not what species they are, but their lifestyle (an odd term to apply to dogs and other animals).

Thanks. Yep, I was checking to buy NMN but didn’t know what brand to buy. Then my GF (now wife) threatened to leave me if I start taking these stuff.

So I postponed the decision for a decade. But more worryingly also stopped doing the diet and the HIIT exercises (also the cold showers but stopped them after a week cause they were painful). Should start these before buying medicaments.

Teenage hormones

My uncles old dog hit 20, he claims (I have no evidence to that, but he doesn't lie so i have no reason to doubt it)

Not sure I should make a new thread, but it's really pissing me off that everywhere is becoming dog friendly. My 2 year old daughter is terrified of them. Also I'm getting licked constantly which I don't like. It's a weird world we live in. In Cheshire Oaks too. I don't want to buy clothes from you if it stinks of dog.

One of the articles says the owner attributes the longevity to a low stress life where he could roam around the forrest leashless for most of his life. Low stress has to account for a fair bit of it.
I suppose it depends a lot on the dog, if I don't feed/walk our dog immediately after he's decided it's dinner/walk time he works himself into a frenzy like the world's about to end.

Wrong.
My kid was nearly bitten by a dog whilst he was in his pram. It still makes him nervous of certain breeds.

that was more to do with that owner, she had 3 dogs in a small apartment and when they got out, without leashes everytime, they went crazy
