Like the highlander?
I actually remember crying when watching it at the age of 7 or 8. Made me think of death and that the closest to me won't live forever. Maybe it's another one of those shite movies that i can add to my favourites :D

Best film ever made (and my favourite of all time) is obviously Rear Window. Perfection.

That is a tough question. Really depends on my mood and maybe who I am watching with. When I am by myslef I ahve watche dteh follwoing films multiple times:
  • Scarface
  • Gladiator
  • Casino
  • Goodfellas
  • Godfather (1 & 2)
  • Remember the Titans
  • Shawshank Redemption

I think if I had to single one out it would be Gladiator.

My favourite ever film is American History X. Layer Cake and Usual Suspects make up my top 3 with Cinema Paradiso, Chef and Ronin all notable mentions.

It’s either Barry Lyndon or Andrey Rublev. Can’t decide between those two. They always leave me behind completely shaken and I think about them for weeks, sometimes actually everyday for months. I love those movies so damn much.

Apocalypse Now is the one for me. I didn't see the original but the Redux version in cinema and went immediately the next evening again. Greatest trip of a film I have ever seen.
The original cut is a far better film.

Quite a few others close and Truly Madly Deeply would have made the list if they hadn't miscast the new love interest who was an irritating drip.

Can anyone identify this (Japanese/Chinese/Korean?) film? There's a killer - possibly a child-killer - and eventually the victims' relatives are allowed to have five minutes or so to assault the tied-up murderer.

I've only seen the bit mentioned above, so sorry there's no more details.

Favourite or best?

I'm not a missive film buff - games, comedy and music are all higher on my priority list, but I guess "desert island films" for me would be:

1. Die Hard
2. Total Recall
3. Robocop

Trainspotting & The Running Man following just behind. Could watch those again and again.

Then you have the Python films, Falling Down, (for some reason) comedies like Uncle Buck, Meet the Parents, Snatch etc. .

None of these are going to be winning Oscars and I'm not saying they are the most worthy films, but so watchable.

... The Big Lebowski, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas...
Yes!

I love John Carpenter's "The Thing" almost as much as BTILC, but when you know who is infected it just doesn't have the same rewatch-value.

What about the final scene though ? So many theories .

I think also to really love a film to count it as an all time favourite is when you get really annoyed if you hear they are doing a remake of it .

There are certain films should never be remade in my opinion

For me
Jaws
Clockers
The Godfather
Ghostbusters
Butch Cassidy and sundance kid
Beverly hills cop
Breakfast club
Scream
Star Wars
Mystic River

Think the liquor Kurt Russel gives the dude is a test, the alien wouldn't have taken a sip.

Atleast that is what I always thought, Kurt Russel visibly relaxes when the guy takes a sip.

Cant say i can pinpoint a favorite, but my most memorable cinematic experience which has since not been topped are Jurrasic Park and Fellowship and the Ring. For both i left the cinema in awe of what i watched. It probably wont be the same but would love to watch them in the cinema again.

No idea but probably one of these : Withnail and I, Being There and Nostalghia.
Not seen any of those, Ive heard of with nail but not the others, ill have to check em out.

Yeah the original Thing is a great film, the remake isnt too bad but its not as good as the original, probably great in its self if you haven’t seen the original.

Departed/Clockwork Orange, forgot to mention those earlier.

Original Evil Dead also up there, my fav horror of all-time.
I just don’t get the love for Evil Dead but i agree with the Departed (absolutely awesome film).

Punch-Drunk Love, possibly.
Is that the one with Adam sandler and Drew Barrymore?

Best film ever made (and my favourite of all time) is obviously Rear Window. Perfection.

Yup i like that too, never gets old.

Yes!

Its more about a film that gets you every time and hits you emotionally and is personal, sorry but im struggling to explain myself

I know what you’re saying but I think you’re missing the point or what im trying to say, i had the same “feeling “ when i heard Eminem’s Stan for the first time, it just blew me away, something I’ll never forget.

Actually not a remake but a prequel. Do you remember the Norwegian guy talking jibberish in the beginning of Carpenter's movie? He was the last survivor from the crew which the 2011 movie features.

Didn’t know that bud, thanks, is that the one chasing the dog?

Yeah, that is the one. He is the last survivor of the Norwegian scientific expedition that the prequel is based on.

I think the alien thing is inside the dog, that is why he chases it.

 Carpenter's film is a remake! The actual original is fecking great for an old black and white. Carpenter did a good job of adding something new to it, but the re-remake is pretty bog-standard and forgettable.

I think i can name a Top 5.

1) Pan's Labyrinth.
2) Scarface.
3) När Mörkret Faller (When Darkness Falls).
4) La Vie En Rose.
5) Mulholland Drive.

Lots of other honorary mentions come to my mind actually. I prefer dark, psychological movies that explore the human psyche. Violence is a bonus.
