Does this look like a title winning team? If not, if you swap Lindelof for Alderweireld or Maguire does it become a title winning side?

4th and last 16 CL, having parked the bus against a top side and losing 3-0 on aggregate. City, Liverpool and Arsenal finish above us. Jose walks at the end of the season citing a lack of ambition from the board.

top 4 and last 16 of the CL , will not be acceptable , but all I am expecting to be honest.
We have not improved to get close to City and it pains me to say it, I think Liverpool have surpassed us.

Top 4, last 16/last 8 of the CL, soul-crushing football. Mourinho moaning all season about his players, the board, the press, the tea lady etc.

Not sure we'll be able to get a top 4 place with the squad and manager at hand but I sure hope so. We'll exit the CL in the last 16.

We are the underdogs this time. None of the Pundits expects us to do well this season. Does anyone else feel this might just take the pressure off us and help us do better? For some reason, this thought is making me optimistic.

Think we'll get top 4 secured with 3-4 games to go and very little else. Saw very little at the end of last season/pre-season to suggest the players we have are going to step it up a gear and our width is still predominately coming from the guy we're expecting to be on the end of the crosses.

Hey guys, hello to all and apologies in advance for the length of this, my first post.

I’ve followed United since seeing the 1968 European Cup Final (I was 10 and mesmerised like many others by George Best).

I’ve not contributed before to a United-specific forum but recent events have left me unable to button my lip any more. Specifically the appalling state of affairs at our club caused by Mourinho.

I predicted this when he arrived and everything I feared has come true: appalling man-management, embarrassing childish tantrums reminiscent of Donald Trump, alienation of most of the squad and weak tactics leading to unimpressive results.

We are the biggest club in the Premiership being helmed by a man who is no longer capable of top-flight management. All our main rivals have better managers and players who want to play for them.

If Mourinho is not removed ASAP all our great players are going to walk. It can’t be allowed to happen. We have a great squad that a better manager could win the Premiership with.

It’s just so sad to see this slipping away from us.

I know this is blasphemy and it hurts me to say it but perhaps it would be better for the club in the long run if we lost the first 3 or 4 games of the season so as to give the board the final excuse to sack him.

I’d rather see a new man come in and start to repair the damage ASAP, even if it does mean we finish lower (as long as it’s top 4 of course).

Just my 2 cents. Sorry that post was so long but I had to vent.

Think we’ll get 3rd or 4th while watching Liverpool put a serious challenge to City.

I hope I am wrong. I pray that Pogba becomes our leader, a driving force in our team and a match winner. Sanchez will come good this season but it needs other things to come together too. Like Pereira stepping up ahead of the likes of Mctominay and Herrera. In a way that’s like 3 new signings to maybe, surprisingly boost us, our confidence. Even the confidence of the fans for which the majority seems pretty low and we haven’t even started yet! I really hope!

But my gut says another City title with Liverpool second. Media love-ins for both clubs and managers while they rip us and Jose to shreds!

If somehow Jose pulled it off and we won, I’d love it more than all our past titles. Just to say another feck you’ to everyone else

We'll be 3rd and we won't get out the group in the champions league. No cup runs.

Similar to last season.

80+ points in the league. 86 was very doable last season if we weren't rotating in our last few league matches so 80 should be achievable.

Perhaps Champions League QF or better, but that depends. I'd be disappointed if a team like Sevilla put us out in the last 16 again and I'd expect to beat someone like that this time as I did then. If we were to get Barcelona or Bayern in the last 16 then that's different altogether.

A good domestic cup run, perhaps win.

Looking forward to see how Pogba and Fred link up and if Pereira can have a breakthrough season.

Don't expect us to challenge for the league but we should get top 4. Hopefully we can win a cup.

I've held off posting in this thread until the window closed (and it near as damn it has now) so I'm expecting another 2nd place finish (maybe 3rd place). I genuinely think if everything comes together we can improve with what we have over last season but I cant imagine it'll be enough to win any of the big trophies (the defence just isn't good enough for that)

If we see a better Lukaku, Pogba and Sanchez though I'd take that at this stage

Can't wait to start investing shit loads of time and money into United tomorrow when the club can't be arsed to invest in the team. Great times.

Think go far in one of the Cups - Fa/ League, possibly snag one.
Last 16 in CL, getting knocked in a similar fashion.

League, City and Liverpool battling it out with City clinching. One of them reaching Semis in CL
Chelsea finishing 3rd but making semis in CL
Spurs finishing 6th
Arsenal/ UTD battling out for 4th.

I'm not optimistic, Needed atleast 1 'top' full back, also a leader at the back and a fecking RW. I see Utd parking the fecking bus with Sanchez on one fecking side and Mata on the other, while attempting to play counter attack & hoof ball with Lukaku or Rashford up front.. it won't work, even against fecking lower league opposition.

I still feel Mourinho needs to get more at the players but this team still lacks.
Top LB - Sell Shaw, Young as back up & rotating with Valencia / Dalot at RB.
Top CB - Alder/Godin prefered. Someone better on the ball but also, to lead the backline.
RW - Someone that can cross the fecking ball please.

Similar to last season but we won't be able to ride our luck as much and so we'll finish 3rd or 4th.

Probably another good cup run, we've been good in the cups since Jose arrived.

Last 16 in Europe, possible 1/4's.

Dogshit football to watch.

Top 4 should easily be attainable but not expecting any vast improvements on what we saw last year. Expect Jose won’t get another season after this one as well.

2nd or 3rd. All down to Jose to get the best out of this squad. If we finish outside the top 4 it would be an absolute embarrassment with the talent we've got, there's no excuses in the world good enough for that.

Top four is going to be a huge struggle now imo.

Mourinho has effectively said this team isn't good enough

All I can see is the relationship between Mourinho and the club totally deteriorating. Cannot see that relationship withstanding pressure now.

Top four, but only just after a fragmented season. Unfortunately, I do see a change in Management at some stage. I think Arsenal and Chelsea are having a bit of a transition so they not be such a threat (but Chelsea are a very resilient club under Abramovich....)

I am not expecting much from us, it is very sad for me to say this, but the manager doesn't give me hope for better things.

Joses relationship with the club and players to slowly deteriorate until it becomes untenable and we are forced to fire him. Following that i would guess we hire the biggest name manager available which will likely be Zidane. Which i'm sure many will be delighted about as he has won lots trophies, then most will turn against him within a year when it becomes clear repeating what he did at Madrid without that group of players is not gonna happen.

But its not all doom and gloom I think we will come 3rd or 4th.

Now that we haven't signed any more players, I think it is completely unrealistic for the board (or whoever) to give José Mourinho the goal of winning the Premier League title. City can drop 7+ points compared to last season, while José could squeeze a few more results out of United and get closer to 90 points, but it won't be enough. My expectation now is pretty much the same as last season:

- Maintain a Top 3 Finish
- Get to (at least) the Quarter Finals of the Champions League
- Win a Trophy

I think José can be asked to get the team to finish on more than 81 Points and score more goals overall by virtue of having Fred in the side and Alexis Sanchez for a full season. I think anything more than this is unrealistic but obviously possible. José will need to be at his management best and get the maximum out of almost all of our players to have any chance at major success.
