Thought Chelsea were in the mix too?
I know, but then there's this quote from Hazard:

"To Manchester, as I have already said. The decision will be taken soon. I have made my choice 90 per cent. There are always small things that can change everything. You will soon know where my future lies," said Hazard, who is believed by some to favour a move to Old Trafford.
"City have won the title this year, and they have great players, a great coach and a nice project. At United, we all know Sir Alex Ferguson and all the talented players he has in his squad."

This was before Chelsea came in as well. He said he'd consider them if they bid.

I just don't get this media-whore. If he's already made his choice 90%, just fecking announce it already. Both clubs seem to have made their final offer to him, so what's he waiting for? If he's waiting for more clubs to come in, why not just wait until the last day of the window and announce his decision then. Such a prick.

If he wants football then he will pick Chelsea as both us and City have quality wingers already. Having said that, Chelsea are so far off the pace in reality that he isn't going to achieve as much in moving there.

I've just a feeling from what he has said in the past that this next move is just a stepping stone to Spain. If that is all this is then Chelsea would be the smart move for him because of the guaranteed game time more or less every week.

Maybe he has been told by his chosen club to keep quiet until the proper unveil time?

fergie obviously wants KAGAWA, HAZARD AND (enter random player) standing next to him with shirts and scalfs before its announced.

He's not made his mind up though, has he? If he's 90% sure then he's still thinking about it and that's all he's really said, it's just being made to look like he's whoring the whole thing because of the media hounding him and twats on twatter flat out making shit up.

He could have just said he's not made his decision yet. Over the past few weeks, he's given all these little hints about where he's going to play and then keeps saying shit like I've made my mind up 90% but I don't know. From that Nike video, to his tweets about red or blue and him definitely playing in manchester. It's not the media and twats on twitter, he has put himself in this situation.

They couldn't be more dissimilar, as signings and players.

What's your point?
Umm, my point was that in terms of profile, costs etc. it's much more likely that our new signings will be more similar to that trio on the picture as opposed to the likes of Kagawa and Hazard.

I may not have been entirely serious, either. It may not be as underwhelming as that summer was but after last year's relatively hefty spending I'd expect us to tone it down a bit...

The problem this report is that claiming Hazard will choose us complete ignore the fact that if he had made his decision then we'd know by now. He claimed in his interview that he wanted to get it sorted soon, before he goes on holiday. Then we find out he'll think in the next 2 weeks whilst on international duty. If he'd already decided I think he'd have signed the contract and got it all sorted, or we'd at least know that it was imminent.

His point is that we won't sign high profile players, original I know. He is bit of a broken record.

Even if we do sign one or two big-name signings (and I wouldn't rate Kagawa as any more exciting/talented/expensive a player than Valencia was) I reckon it's highly likely we'll take another punt on an Obertan-type player. So chances are the profile of our signings will be much the same.

I wouldn't even be too surprised if Owen is replaced by a similarly experienced player on a free. The rationale for signing him was so as not to block the development of talented young strikers already at the club - a logic which is just as relevant today as it was then (now that Will Keane is progressing so well)

I thought we had established that Hazard is not a winger? Anyway I've pretty much missed on this thread today. What's the latest news (by news I mean rumours)

Yes, I agree. Which is what I'm talking about: all these people expecting both Hazard and Kagawa (his profile is somewhat higher than Valencia's was, he's a two-time Bundesliga winner with some CL experience after all but they can be lumped in the same category if we really want to) to sign are, most probably, deluded. The theories that we're waiting just so that Fergie can present them both on the same day are brilliant muppetry but have little basis in reality.

I wasn't a fan of the Owen experiment and I'm not sure there are any strikers worth taking on a free atm (Drogba surely isn't an option). We're better off in the striking department than we were back in 2009 anyway.

I think people are over-hyping Kagawa way too much too, he's not a massive name signing by any stretch.

Hazard is big name signing but hardly like a David Silva or Sergio Aguero.

I'd stick Kagawa in the Valencia/Young bracket.

The Fourth official lot are still saying he is definitely off to city, they've seemed to usually be right with what I have seen too

Sky are gonna look like absolute twats when he joins City.
I haven't trusted them as a source since they opened Sky Bet. Ask yourself why their news channel is reporting that he is going to United with their "sources" telling them this information while the odds on sky bet are very different:

Man City 8/11
Man United 5/4
Chelsea 3/1

So they have this "information" that he is going to United but are still offering longer odds than him going to City. Nice.

Id classify Hazard as a big name signing purely due to the hype he is attracting.

Kagawa is also a pretty big name as he comes from 2 times in a row German champions, as an integral part of that team. With respect, Valencia and Young came from midtable premiership clubs.

That's the same morons who were claiming that United's debt was caused by our big spending in the transfer market.

Usually reliable but are more wrong these days. OGS to Villa, Rav released, Fletch retiring just in last month or so.

The same could have been said of Nasri. To be honest I don't really think Hazard will solve our problems but he seems a great player who will add a lot to our squad so I have no objections in signing him
Unless Hazard initially agreed to come to us but then tried to get more at City and then try and renig that and come back to us, I wont say it's the same.

He's been chosen best player in the French league two years in a row at age 21. That's a good pedigree without any hype.

I've been watching it on a stream for 20-25 mins. Nothing so far.
Read my post above, they are not reliable as a source. Reporting it when it's a done deal, sure, but don't believe a word they say up to that.

That doesn't make him a big name.

Put it this way, I'd say 90% of people who watch the Premier League had never heard of him until a few weeks back. I'm certain more football fans around the World had heard of Ashley Young.
