Could we play a formation where Kagawa plays just in behind RvP and Chicharito?

I would love to see that.
Would be tricky, and would basically go against United's wingers' history.
Would be lovely to see though.

De Gea

Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra

Cleverley Carrick Strootman

Kagawa

Hernandez Van Persie

Rafael and Evra would have to do some serious running.

It would be tricky indeed. I want to see Kagawa play in his natural position behind the striker, but on the otherhand I want to see Chicharito get more playing time because I think the lad is just fantastic.

Have we signed Strootman?
Betting odds and twitter = yes. That's more important than any statement from anyone remotely involved in any potential transfer. STROOTMAN!

P.S to stay relevant to the thread, Hernandez scores goals.

I've been thinking the same recently. One of the upsides to if Rooney goes would be that we will see more of Hernandez. I'd also love to see Kagawa played more in his natural position.

On paper it sounds like a very exciting front three! It would mean we wouldn't be playing with our traditional wingers but based on their form last season that might not be a bad thing.

Apologies, didn't realise I put Strootman in my team  I had my Strootman thread going at the same time.

Eduardo Hernandez, says his client is going nowhere.

"He is very happy at Manchester United. Javier has been there three years and has won the league twice. Not many can say they have achieved that," he said.

That puts to bed any lingering speculation.

Football, bloody hell.
Of course he's staying! I would actually be heartbroken if he were to leave, ever. I feel deep deep pain at just the very thought of it...

Damn, it feels so wrong that he's not been given that many minutes, but at the same time...seriously, we've got Rooney, RvP, Chicharito, Welbeck and Kagawa all basicaly filling 2 spots with Giggs (granted it's not often, but still) filling in that role on occasion as well.

How exactly does one give everyone of those players "deserved" minutes?

By playing Welbeck and Kagawa on the wing, Rooney wherever we can and by not playing RVP in every game.

We could adopt a 3-5-2 wingback formation. With a bit of added muppetry we would have;

------------De Gea-------------
---- Jones - Smalling - Vidic---
Rafael ----------------------Bale
-------Carrick -- Strootman------
-------------Kagawa---------
-------- RVP ---- Rooney----

Obviously Hernandez could replace Rooney in that lineup.

Is it wrong that I've got my little sausage in my hand rubbing furiously at that impossibly muppetish line up?

I would actually really like to see that! Some of the best Italian and German sides of all time have played that way

Bale isn't a wingback though but Evra would be fine for that formation and Raf is perfect.

Jones could play as a sweeper and bring the ball out of defence Baresi style

Not that it merits a huge debate as it is just muppetry, BUT;

Look at the amount of time Evra spends in/around the opposition box. That's with a back four. With 3 CBs Bale (or equivalent) would have even more license to roam forward. Against most weaker opposition he would essentially be a winger, just with a need to drop back a little more often.

Secondly he obviously started his career LB. whilst his CURRENT game focuses on goalscoring, it was only a couple of years ago that his main attribute was bursting past his man and swinging a cross in. He would make a great WB.

Thirdly and most importantly, I play that formation with Bale in Football Manager and it works. /thread

HELLO
http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...anchester-united-exit-by-saying-he-s-tired-of
Rumours have been growing in the Italian media over the last couple of days about a possible Manchester United exit for Javier Hernandez. He's been linked with moves to several teams in Serie A as well as to other clubs in Europe but has always insisted he's happy to stay and fight for his place at Manchester United. Tuttosport picked up some comments from Hernandez when he was away with the Mexican national team a couple of days ago and they've repeated them again today with the suggestion that he could be a target for Juventus, but then every striker in Europe appears to be a target for the Turin side at the moment.
Hernandez is quoted as saying "I'm tired of being on the bench, I want to play. At Manchester United all in all I'm happy, but it is frustrating to play so little. I want more, luckily now I'm with the national team where I'm fine."
The striker only started nine Premier League games last summer despite Sir Alex Ferguson insisting last summer that he would have a big part to play last season. Ferguson made the comments when there was the fuss about Manchester United preventing Hernandez from playing for Mexico in the Olympics. The refusal was big news in Mexico and will have no doubt upset the player, who is a huge national star there. Mexico won the tournament and it was considered an important victory for the country, Hernandez may be a little bitter he missed out on a gold medal and then didn't get the involvement with Manchester United which he was led to expect.
Last year was Hernandez's worst for Premier League starts, the previous season he made double that and the one before he was in the first eleven fifteen times for league games. He picked up starts in other competitions but as far as the Premier League goes, it was a step back for Javier Hernandez at Manchester United and having just turned 25 he could be having doubts about his future, especially with a new manager coming in. He may have a shiny medal after the club won the league but he wants to start more games rather than coming on as a substitute.
Mexico have a good chance of qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil next year and whilst there's little chance Hernandez would be left out, it's conceivable he'd feel a season with more football would prepare him better. As the player himself said, he's happy at Manchester United but it certainly sounds like he's been considering his situation, if an offer comes in from one of the clubs linked then it will give him further reason to analyse where his career is going.
Tuttosport have carried the quotes in two of their last three print editions, so whilst it's possible they've plucked them from thin air, it would be odd to do it twice and in that way. If Tuttosport are spot on then it's understandable Hernandez is feeling frustrated.
Not sure how reliable Tuttosport are. Can totally understand Hernandez if the quotes are real.

Really hope Moyes plays him a lot next season. He has proved himself time and time again and is a fantastic little player. Need more rotation up front. Will help RVP rest and do well in the 2nd half of the season as well. I dont us to lose him for such a silly reason of not giving him enough games.

"I'm tired on being the bench" isn't something I'd expect him to say, but I'd understand if he feels that way. Like many United fans I hope Moyes have plans of using him more next season than Sir Alex did the season before.

I think that they are pretty reliable. Also, if I am not mistaken they are linked with Juvents.

Why exactly not? He just turned 25. You certainly dont expect him to come off the bench for his whole career do you?

Simply because he rarely, if ever, talks like that in interviews.
As ever, there’s going to be a lot of competition for places up front at United next season – what can you do to stake your place in the team?
Like I always say, there are parts of your life when you’re going to have competition. Even if you’re in the youth team you will have competition in your position, that’s normal. I think having that competition in the team can be good, to keep fighting for that place will make you and the other players play at their best because everyone – the strikers, the midfielders, the defenders, the goalkeepers – all want to be in the XI so they need to keep improving and work hard. It’s normal for a footballer, so I’m going to be ready whenever the gaffer wants me to play. If it’s one minute or 90 minutes, I want to do my best to help the team win titles.

RvP went through a ten game goal-scoring drought and played every game, Chicharito was on fire almost every time he stepped on the pitch and he struggled to get starts. It's unsurprising that's grated a little bit. I hope he stays because there is interest from other clubs.

I have no qualms over changing his stance. It's the way "he" expressed it that I don't see fit. And by the looks of it, the quote is rather questionable if SW is to be believed.

I can completely understand that he wants to start more games, I just don't think he's good enough to start regularly for a top team. He is the ideal player to have on the bench when you need a goal though.

His frustrations are understandable. His problem though is that under SAF, we were perhaps the most meritocratic club in the league. If you are good enough you play. Simples. And by that measure, Hernandez is a cut below the grade.
D
The stats show he does not do well when starting a match, that like Solskjaer, his pace and finishing is best utilized when he is fresh playing against mentally and physically tiring teams.

The evidence is there. Unless he develops his game to be more effective starting games, this will be his role of any elite club. So he has it to prove.

True. Also, you can look at a Moyes precedent at Everton, he picked Anichebe over Jelavic for much of last season, even though Anichebe is an infrequent scorer. A bit like how someone like Welbeck was often given the nod over Hernandez.
