Just purchased the Xbox One Battlefield 4 bundle + Ryse. Best part of being an "adult gamer" no questions asked when I drop $600 on an new console!

Side note, heading to a local computer studio next week. My wife is finishing up some character work for the game Ryse. She's a main character boss in the game. Heard nothing but cool stuff about the game and am looking forward to possibly getting some info on it.

That's awesome, do you think she can introduce me to Elena from uncharted?

Ok, tomorrow, and no, it isn't about binary, and feck off Leg-End!

It's not about binary, most universities (and I was a university teacher) now teach things like Java which completely removes or abstracts people from the machine that they are using. These people now cannot deal with a simple thing like a pointer, which to me is an absolute disaster. Everything is kept away from them to such an extent that you have to jump through loops to even make a linked list or a simple binary tree - no they provide that for you, but it runs on everything from a mobile phone to a super-computer, what the feck is it? You don't know! Well, when you are programming something as time critical as a game, you fecking well want to know! Modern computer science students don't know feck all.

Minecraft, which I consider to be the best game ever runs on Java. Or perhaps simply the most innotive, rather than the best. The world is infinite, there is no loading when you muck up, everything you do Ganges the world around you. Definitively not the best, but the most outstandingly different from everything that has come before

I make say this, just to point out that java has it's place. Notch has said he would never be able to have built Minecraft in C, as it would have taken him years. You say the next generation lack skills with machine level programming, but in the old days the bar was lower. One man could make a great game, it would be much harder to do that in C today.

Or whatever language your going on about.

Do you want these people to make games or write the game engines or have to work to get access to machines core

Because supply is low?

Didn't we get a report a week or two back saying there was limited supply in the US stores of the X1, like 8-10 units per store compared to the PS4 which has "unlimited" supply?

I haven't pre-ordered yet, might mean I'm without on release but I'm quite happy to wait.

Have to say, killer instinct on x box one looks pretty nice. Fighting games been a massive downward slop in recent years and whereas this one doesnt look next gen at all, it looks pretty fun. Surmised Sony haven't announced a fighting title as part of their launch titles.

Rumors that they have supply chain issues, along with poor esRAM yields.

Yeah I think the yeild issue was confirmed by more than one ITK, did they ever confirm that they downclocked it?

Xbox One allowing self-publishing now

Microsoft has confirmed a report from earlier today that its Xbox One console will support self-publishing for developers. The system will also double as a development kit.

"Our vision is that every person can be a creator. That every Xbox One can be used for development," Microsoft's Marc Whitten told Engadget.

Microsoft previously stated it would not support the model, but we've gotten used to this from the Xbox One-80.

Our vision my ass. Your vision altered because gamers, developers and everyone else in-between called your retarded, initial strategy.

More like indy devs were flocking to PS4 and porting there games from PC to PS4 and Xbox realised they were missing out.

A good chunk of what I hated about the Xbox One has been changed to things I don't hate.

I will still never buy it. Bridges well and truly burned.

They fecked up worse than Sony 2006 levels and its gonna take a long time for them to swing around peoples view on them as a company and the X1 as a product.

Do we know if the launch lineup of games will be officially announced when the release date is confirmed? I'm definitely going to get a PS4 at some point but I'm struggling to see too many games that make it necessary for me to buy one at launch given that I have a decent gaming PC.

A lot of stuff has pointed to November I think. I agree, there's not a whole lot that makes me want to get one at launch in terms of games. Not a Killzone fan.

InFamous Second Son looked promising though and is slated for early 2014. Might be tempted then.

Yeah, I haven't even finished either of the current Infamous games yet so that's not even on my list yet! I'm expecting November as well but I'm assuming they'll announce it officially at gamescom.

The PS4 passed US FCC certification the other day, usually when that happens the product isn't that far behind. I think launch date info is imminent, likely Gamecom or PAX.

Spent last week in the studio while my wife finished up her lines and facial mo-cap for Ryse. Spoke in length with the artistic director about XboxOne.

He said from a developers standpoint, specifically with Crytek Microsoft have been more than accommodating. He admitted the system is slightly less powerful than Sony's BUT the production costs of exploiting that extra power would outweigh the benefit.

As for the game they are in crunch time. I was amazed to see just how much goes into making a game. There should be a new behind the scenes trailer coming soon that shows off the in game engine. It's really impressive compared to what current gen games are using.

Not quite sure how the PS4 having more RAM available for developers would lead to it being more expensive to develop for?

Perhaps he just means that in order to exploit the extra RAM and significantly improve the production value of the game the cost in terms of man-hours would always outweigh the benefit.

If that's the case then I'm not convinced. What one games developer views as being non-cost effective doesn't necessarily translate to the next games developer. If the PS4 has a higher top-end than the Xbox1 then sooner or later that extra tier will be encroached upon.

Does anyone know if the PS4 will support Sky Go?

I get the full Sky package through my 360 at the moment for free using my dad's Sky ID. My next console will have to offer the same functionality.

There is no slightly about it. The PS4 has 50 per cent more processing power in its gpu and more usable and faster ram available over the xbone. The xbone will also be more difficult to develop for given its use of ESRAM.

Sig removed. Forgot about that. Do you actually disagree with anything in my previous post?

No news yet, but doubtful, think M$ have that partnership pretty much tied up.

Does not matter to me, i hook up my laptop to my TV for Sky Go. Will be even easy now that Google have just announced there streaming dongle.

I'm not a 100% but that would make sense. I really didn't press the question as I'm not that tech savvy.

He did make a point to say that Microsoft doesn't force their peripherals (kinect, smart glass) onto the developers. He felt that Sony pushes for developers to use their peripherals (light saber thingy' s?).

It might sound like he was dumping on Sony but really wasn't the case at all. He's been hired to build an XboxOne exclusive and was simply pointing out their experience.

Was the PS3 on paper more powerful than the 360?

The PS3 on paper was more powerful but it was also "harder" to develop for because of cell. The PS4 is more powerful but also uses the same architecture as the X1.

I find it hard to believe Microsoft don't try and force peripherals like Kinect on developers when they are making it mandatory and shipping it in with all X1 consoles forcing the cost up and then on the flipside Sony try and force Move when they aren't pushing anywhere near as aggressively.

I think it sounds like a guy that works for a Microsoft developer who is highly unlikely to take a dump on the company he works for whilst bigging up the competition, openly in the office to an outsider.

Yeah maybe you're right but again it was probably .001% of the conversation all day so it didn't come across as anything but his observation. Crytek will surly develop for the PS4 at sometime in the future after they finish with Ryse so I wouldn't think he'd take a chance to write off either console fully.

I'm definitely getting a PS4 as all my friends and my brother are Sony fanboys plus I prefer the controller. However, I just feel :( that Killer Instinct is an Xbox exclusive and that means that one of my favourite retro games, that I have been waiting for 17 years to get released will be a game I will probably never own.

We all know the PS4 is the more powerful of the two but will we really see the difference, especially on multi platform titles? I have my doubts.

My brother was on the ps4 crew (after being 360 for years), but as soon as xbox announced a few u-turns, he's back in the xbox brigade.. weird fecker.

Not really too surprising when you look at the technical features the PS4 will have. Instant on/off, "hibernation," recording of games etc.

Goes against the idea that they doubled to RAM late on though.
