Brown was an extremely good defender on form. You don't have a season like he did during 07/08 without having a lot of talent.
Brown was a headless chicken defender. Running about not knowing what the feck he was doing. Silvestre was a bonehead. Couldn't mark to save his life. Still trying to find the time Brown went into the advertising boards upside down on his arse.
Yeah, that performance from Brown against Barcelona was one of the best individual performances by a United player in a big game that I can think of. If he hadn't been so unlucky with injuries, notably having two nasty cruciate ligament injuries by the age of 23, he'd have had a better career.both of those defenders, and brown in particularly deserve alot more respect than that ridiculous opinion. as someone said brown was absolutely brilliant, probably the best RB in europe during our best season and gave an incredible performance in the semi final second leg vs barca at centre back. that season aside he was always a reliable player, and while not in the same class as vidic, he was far from "a headless chicken defender. Running about not knowing what the feck he was doing". childish statement
Doubt Moyes would be that suicidal to get rid of Vidic after just coming to the club. Vidic has had some of his best performances ever against Everton so Moyes should know how good he is already, and if he doesn't then he could always read OptaJoe.The man's a beast. Love him.
We can buy Bale, Fabregas, Ronaldo, Mata and who not, but if we're selling Vidic (there are rumours) for Garay I'm going ballistic.
I'd love to be able to gain access to the coaching/physio reports in respect of his medium to long term prognosis. Wasn't Stam flogged (partially, we all know the other reason) because Ferguson was warned by the physios/coaching staff how likely he was to struggle with recovery from injury?

This says it allOpta said:74% - Of all players to play 150+ Premier League games, Nemanja Vidic has the best win percentage (P184 W136).
Nemanja Vidic averages 2.37 points per game in the PL - more than any other player in the history of the PL with over 100 appearances.
Damn, that's a hell of a stat. This says it all
same...I've been saying for years he's the best defender...and I don't just mean in our team (although lately with the injuries + Kompany/Silva progressing it can be an arguable choice)...not to forget Rio or anybody else but Vidič is just a monster, always happy to see his name on the teamsheet, already significantly more confident about our defense.I honestly think Vidic is the most important player on the team after Carrick. Our defense with and without him last year was proof enough. With him playing you just feel confident and know we'll keep a clean sheet. No other defender of ours really ever gives me the same confidence.

We looked far far more solid with him in there than without. We kept 9 clean sheets in Vidic's 22 starts. We weren't exactly an impenetrable defence with him in there.
This is undeniably true. It was right there before our eyes.We looked far far more solid with him in there than without.
As Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones fight for the number two spot next term, Vidic will be almost undroppable.
He is the leader on the pitch as well as off it.
His presence is as commanding as Jaap Stam and Steve Bruce before him. He is an immensely strong character capable of inspiring men.
There is no finer player in the air than Vidic. When a cross comes into the penalty area, you would bet your house on him winning the 50/50.
At 31, he is still in his peak as a footballer.
Yep, the quoted bit is bang on.http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...to-his-best-for-manchester-united-next-season
Sloppy piece of writing with the 'World Cup season' part but it's good to see his last seasons contribution acknowledged.
Juventus are already planning ahead for next summer’s transfer window by keeping a close eye on Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic’s contract situation with a view to signing him on a free transfer in a year’s time.
The 31-year-old ex-Serbian international, whose contract in Manchester is due to come to an end in June 2014, will likely be offered a one year contract extension to stay with the Red Devils, but the Old Lady are prepared to swoop for their talismanic defender.
As reported by Tuttosport, Bianconeri director general Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici are already thinking of adding more steel to their defence with an assault on the transfer market next season, and are hoping to land the latest in a line of high profile free transfers.
Having signed legendary Italian playmaker Andrea Pirlo, French wonder-kid Paul Pogbaas well as Spanish world cup winning striker Fernando Llorente in recent seasons without having to even open a chequebook, the Turin giants will be looking to complete another piece of astute business in the near future.
There are still concerns about his fitness. In the last couple of years he spent too much time on the treatment tableSurely it is worth locking him into a 2-3 year contract and scrubbing the policy for the club captain.
