Seriously? He was bleeding all over the place. I imagine the pull back of his head was due to the shock of getting a boot through his face.

I expect UEFA will come out and criticise the ref for not giving a red card?

Cops a cricket ball at 88mph to the scone. Stays up turns away then goes to ground. Doesn't really flick his head back afterward trying to make it look worse? You could probably comfortably say that a cricket ball to the head would have hurt a lot more than a boot.

But anyway, regardless of how much it hurt I just thought it was funny he had to snap the head back and clutch face in an attempt to play it up. Even though it was a genuine boot to the face.

Maybe he's got a higher pain threshold. The bloke had to go to the hospital after that. I don't know what you are complaining about?
I'm not complaining about anything? I'm laughing at the silly head snap back and face clutch from a genuine foot to the face.

If it's a genuine foot to the face, wouldn't the snapping of the head and face clutching be justified? It was hardly a feather touch.
Not really, he's mealed it up even more after copping a foot to the face, hence why it is funny to me. John Terry out cold after copping a boot flush to the face? Not funny to me now matter how much everyone would love to see it. He's out completely cold instantly and falls to the ground limp.

Compare that to copping a cricket ball to the back of your skull. It's just funny to me that it is an instinctive reaction to play up an incident even if it is a genuinely dangerous one. Anyway, gif request thread. Carry on.

edit Sorry the head snap, not the face clutch. That's a bit reachy of me trying to bring that into it. Anyway, again. Carry on.

The instinctive need to play up every contact says more about the shite quality of refereeing more than anything else.

Plus, getting kicked in the face hurts.

Fair enough, sometimes it's not black and white and adrenalin does make you forget the pain. I'm not sure if he was looking to overplay it, but I guess you can make a case for that by the face clutch.

The baseball players and the cricketers can see the ball coming. Koscielny is focused on the ball and the gets kicked in the face. I don't think he's trying to exaggerate anything.

Says the cricket fan. To quote one Malcolm Tucker. "What's that, cricket, that's the English equivalent of sport isn't it? No actual physical contact, just glaring."

Wait, your defence of baseball against cricket is that there's no contact in cricket? At what point in baseball do the tackle go flying in?

EDIT: Also, this criticism of the way Koscielny went down is hilarious. Apparently he got cut almost right down to the bone. But by all means, go ahead and call him a diver while you sit nice and comfy in front of your laptops.

Ah Bright, all I said was it was funny how he snapped his head back instinctively in a way that looked as though he was hamming it up making a meal of it. Sorry some guy on a field got injured enough to be taken to hospital and is ok now..

I have been hit a tonne of times playing cricket, including the head and genitalia region. That shit fkn hurts pretty bad. That's all I'll say.

It's only a bit of banter my dear. And contrary to belief there is contact in baseball, intentional home plate collisions to knock the ball out of the glove.

It's basically rounders for frustrated people, then?

I agree with Bright Tony too, not sure I actually said it clearly enough but, getting kicked in the fact hurts. Of course he pulled his head back...

In which direction is that cricket player going to snap his head? He's almost brought his head as far back as possible given his posture when the ball hits him.
Now go over to the La Liga thread and find the Alba gifs, now that's genuinely funny and shameful.

He clearly pulls his head back as a reaction to getting hit - he doesn't know what has hit him, so his body has reacted and moved backwards to avoid the danger. Its like when u get stung or cut by something u instantly move backwards; I do not think in his mind he is thinking, "right I have just been smashed in my face by a boot, better make this look worse than it is, that player might get a red".

People over analyze stuff way too much.

Hence.. 'instinctive'..
You started the whole arguement off by saying "Doesn't really flick his head back afterward trying to make it look worse?" about the cricket batsman.

How has Koscielny tried to make it look worse? it was a instinctive reaction like you say. Unless you think humans have now instinctively developed to make other people look worse when injured, then sure :houllier:

How could you learn to flick your head back after someone hits you anyway? You have like half a second to think 'yeah nows my time to flick my head'. How would you go about learning something like that
