and assuming Liverpool (who sits at 4th) wins, The gap bet us and 4th place will be 8 points and 4 straight losses in a row. Will it prove to be the 'final nail in the coffin' for David Moyes? Will it then become a matter of time before he is sacked? Given the game following that is against Chelsea, will u think the owners will spare him for just 1 more match, or even allow him to see through the 2nd leg of the league cup semis? Or simply allow him to continue the rest of the season before ending his misery?

Discuss.

Our Season is over - From now to May its a series of testimonial games for Ryan Giggs. The honourable thing would be for Moyes to step aside for the 5 months and allow Ferguson to manage the team with Giggs as assistant manager and for them to play an honorary 11 of United legends from now until the last game of season. Bring back players like Bosnich, Beckham, Milne etc etc and give them a run out on the hallowed turf before the London based fans decide to follow a team closer to home.

We've lost on our last 3 league visits to Stoke. There's more chance of you just being 2 points behind rather than 8 after our match on Sunday.

You'll beat Swansea tomorrow. I've got £100 on it.
The next time you want to lose money, just send it to me. I could use £100 at any time.

I'd expect a strong reaction in the lineup and some clear changes in this transfer window at least. If we were to lose and he continues using the same players and we dont make any real improvements in the transfer window, then I'd lose a lot of faith.

Hold up there mate, we've still got to ensure we make it into next season's Europa league!

Actually, I wonder if I can get long odds on United to win the Europa league given that we've not yet qualified for it.

If I'm not mistaken we played our best available team against Sunderland. so who do you want to drop?

We don't have any other good players to play though.

Because everyone in the squad will play in a single match?
You said we should drop everyone who isn't playing well enough. I assumed you meant that anyone who's not playing well enough this season. If so, we wouldn't have eleven players to field.

Even if you just want to drop everyone who didn't play well at Sunderland, with the current injury situation I'm not sure we could actually field a full team.

I said I'd expect a strong reaction to the lineup if we were to lose again. We're talking about a single match of football

Not a complete cock, just really young.
Jesus, are we really doing this again? "What will it take for Moyes to be sacked?" He's going nowhere. If we drop more points on Saturday it'll be more of the same. Doom and gloom on here, media mounting pressure on him, and everything else will continue as normal.

We wont lose. Even if we did, nothing would change. People expecting a managerial change before the end of season are underestimating SAFs influence. Unless we really go shockingly down the table, Moyes will get 1 season atleast.

Yeah as long as we're in the top half he'll be given probably next season as well in order to have time to recruit and build his own team. Its just really underwhelming that the first step towards his team was Fellaini.

I don't expect anything of the sort.

I expect to see:

DDG
Smalling - Evans - Vidic - Evra
Carrick - Fletcher
Valencia - Welbeck - Kagawa
Hernandez

he was desperate for that not to be his first signing though, to be fair to him.

the kind of players we have been and are being linked with is encouraging... Although I'm not someone who is particularly interested in transfers.

Honest question - given how absolutely piss poor our midfield has been in the past few matches - where exactly is Anderson? He's not the man for 90 minutes, he's on his way out but he HAS to be better than Cleverley has been lately. Fergie trusted him occasionally, but Moyes seems to have dumped our last CM completely.

I wish I found your team reassuring. I usually look forward to United games and now I am dreading them. Surely it shouldn't be like this? Hopefully things can go right for us tomorrow for a change.

No its exactly right, great picture. Shows that we should have fired Sir Alex 3 years ago and replaced him with David Moyes then

Where the goals come from.
What a stupid comparison. Makes absolutely no sense.
It doesn't "make absolutely no sense".

It should be taken far from face value, as with may stats. But it is about as inofrmative as most other bollocks opinions doing the rounds.

It makes no more sense to churn out the old line that because Fergie took over a dodgy team who hadn't won the league for 19 years, his results for the first few seasons are irrelevant. Apart from anything else, it's massively overstated how bad that squad was.

Moyes is wonderful with his man-management. Anderson and Zaha are never trusted despite tumescent performances from Cleverley and Valencia, who Moyes demands must play nearly every match regardless of performance and fitness. When Fábio is given his first opportunity for nearly three months because Moyes is forced to select him due to injuries, he is eager to impress this manager who is determined to never give him a chance, he is sent off for a passionate challenge. Who can blame this player? Moyes prefers to select players out of position (Smalling), players in poor form and in need of a rest (Evra), and players simply lacking in quality (Büttner) ahead of him at all costs.

Fergie took over the team sitting in 19th place in November, took them up to 11th by the end of the season and then finished second in his first full season.

So yeah, the comparison is absolutely stupid and makes no sense. Fergie bought goodwill and patience with good results before the truly horrid period between 1988 and the end of 1989. His results are not irrelevant at all; they showed that he's probably got what it takes so he earned patience.
