Don't even get drawn in. We ain't getting Fabregas. The time was last summer, but we dicked around with low-ball bids instead.

Hes being sold for 2m more than our first summer bid and 3m less than the second though aint he? Wasn't about the transfer fee last summer, he just didn't want to leave yet.

What have we become? I hope none of you lot used to join in with the stick we gave City/Chelsea for buying mercenaries.
1.We earnt the money, we dont have a sheikh or a criminal oligarch supporting us.
2. We might not even do it, I am pretty sure we wont actually. Even if we do go money crazy it will be only cause we arent in the champions league, once we get there you wont see this. Top 4 is very important for glazers.

Why not just bring in players that want to be here? To be fair, we've heard a few times now that van Gaal has said not to bother with players that don't want to be here. It's just the fans that would rather see us buy our way back to the top. Doesn't sit right with me.

What players don't want to be here that we want though?

I doubt anyone listens to him, he's a fringe player whereas the likes of Mata grew up with Cesc in and around the Spain squad.

BTW, why would they call him "Dave"?

No idea, I have seen it mentioned by a few Chelsea fans.

It wouldn't really be buying our way to the top, but we've always been a club that spended big when we needed to. And we are in dire need of spending big in midfield at the very least. I don't think anyone here would want us to spend 50m on some average player just to bring him in, or spend huge in every single position, but some times you need to spend. We've gone a while with barely making any big signings, just loads of average ones for around 20m so it left us with our current squad. Would you rather we sign one world class player like Fabregas for 40m or bring in two squad players like Ashley Young for that price? Because we've been doing the latter and missing out on big targets, just because the lesser player wanted to come.

Ducker said United aren't in for Fabregas (tweet above), he's usually clued up with United related information.

Onto the next one!

Journo who started the confusion:

:wenger:

I find reading these tweet claims back and forth so bloody dull, seems the press have no clue who our targets are other than Shaw, best guesses and counter claims, only a couple weeks into the summer and i'm already bored to tears of it all.

We don't spend big often because it's not sustainable. Not unless you're bankrolled by a sugar daddy.

But that's not the point I was making. It was more about us signig mercenaries. If Cesc wouldn't choose us over Chelsea unless we made an offer he couldn't refuse, then feck him. We should have to match Chelsea at best, not blow them out of the water to convince him.

Regarding spending the money, I wouldn't mind if it was a player that was young and really wanted to join, but we had to pay a big fee to their club. Shaw, for example. That's not the problem.

To be fair to Tancredi he is a paid journalist unlike 'Deputy Head of Fries' Indykalia.

That said a lot of paid journos are clueless. Look at the MEN and Daily Express claiming a 20m deal or Kroos was done at midnight only for the player himself to totally deny it later on the following day. Should we exclude the MEN and Express on that basis?

We also have a number of clueless people being quoted on here with authority. Gregory Ioannidis being the main one. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all but he states things that are taken as him being an insider.

Here's today's gem. Check the time and date of the tweet.

Whoda thunk the LawTop20 guy read The Times hey?

I don't even mind if we don't sign anyone in the worst case scenario but I really hope Woodward doesn't set us back as a laughing stock with the way he has been handling transfer business. Every report coming out suggests a lack of direction, premature and premeditated leaking of news to the press and just a constant dithering and indecisiveness in terms of targets. van Gaal will likely have to arrive after his world cup and vacation to put a boot up someone's ass for things to fall in order.

It's easy for these supposed in the know journalists.

Let me save them the trouble. Just from Barcelona and Bayern,

We are not "Interested" in Fabregas, Alba, Pedro, Sanchez, Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Robben, Muller,
