Whats the point then? I don't think international matches would be there now for the next 6 months.I'm not sure the FA gets to sanction a player based on the World Cup. I personally don't like the idea because they would be punished twice in that case.
The FA didn't cite the Bakkal incident in their report when he bit Ivanović and they didn't reserve any judgement to extend the sanctions - so I don't think they will get to ban him in English competitions.
Still, I think there's an oddity here where Suárez wouldn't be banned for Uruguay's matches like the Copa América, because it is organised by CONMEBOL. Suárez could only be banned in competitions like the World Cup (qualifying and Finals) and Club World Cup.
Also, I am going on a tangent here, but FIFA did ban Simunic from football entirely (including stadiums) for rallying his team and country. Even though it's a different case altogether, but they already have set a precedent. And this is basically an unprovoked assault in a football match.
