It looks like The Netherlands are just parking the bus, Chelsea style!! Worrying signs for us?
Not at all. We won't be this conservative but we will play in this system

Personally think if the rumours of LvG not going for Cesc, it is probably for his lack of defensive work. Herrera plays a similar role to Guzm an in transitioning from defence to attack.

Netherlands need to be conservative, especially after losing De Jong

At first I think as we all thought that Robben dived ... but I would say a definite penalty kick.
There can be no doubt that these conditions favour the Mexicans. None at all. That said Mexico definitely are a good side when on form and with confidence. Could give anybody a game. It's crazy really to think that they needed a playoff to get here.
yes as I said Mexico is so tied to there confidence probably more then any team in the tournament. I sorry though it's there fault that they don't prepare for this. this federations have millions of dollars pounds marks to prepare for a hot day. Just no excuse, yes it my be uncomfortable but these are professionals and should do better in this conditions. Right now this World Cup has showed us that the world is getting more parity in football/soccer. I don't have any bias in this game I love several Dutch players and I support our coach but Mexico can beat any of the teams left in the World Cup and I wouldn't be surprised if the play Argentina in one semi.

Egg-sactly.

I've read about a few athletes suffering health issues from playing in very hot temperatures but it's usually American Football players training in their full gear for hours on end, not "soccer" players playing 45 minutes in shorts and a t-shirt.
I think it is the humidity. Reflects total air mass intake, etc, etc.

I don't think the Netherlands will be able to tire Mexico by sitting back and waiting on the counter. Mexico are now well aware of the dutch-men's intention to counter.
It is why though I m a Dutch fan, I knew we couldn't go but so far. Van Gaal's tactics may change, but Robben's and RvP's do not.

I think it may be a tactic. That cnut Dutch fitness coach who criticized Moyes during the entire season, said yesterday that Van Gaal ia making his tactics in order to converse the energy. It might really be something like that.
Could be possible. Good point.

Martin O'Neill is going in really hard on the Dutch and Van Gaal. What's his beef?

Actually we have cricketers batting for hours in places like India and Srilanka at temperatures around 35C with full gear on. I think these guys on ITV are unnecessarily making a big deal out of this temperature issue.

Far far away...
That Mexico penalty call looks like dangerous play - indirect freekick to me. At least a La Liga ref would interpret it like that. I'm trying to think of similar incidents in England.
Annoyingly, if it was the other way around (attacking player kicking defender) there would be a free kick, even in England. Btw, Welbeck's goal was ruled out in the CL for a similar reason.

EDIT: I think it's a foul, probably indirect FK (he touched the ball first).

Mexico 1-0!

No, the problem is that the Netherlands only has a few attacking threats .... so they almost have too sometimes. United has a lot more attacking threats, our problem is getting them the ball which is why we are fixing the midfield.
That makes sense.

I need some entertainment this half. Somehow I'm in the doghouse with the wife despite her being mad about something which she acknowledges is totally her fault. :wenger:

Cheer me up Sweet, sweet Van Gaal.

Decent goal, don't think I could pull it off.
