Fletcher should not be playing after last week's horror show..

Hard to see a win here, fletcher and di Maria looks attacking but weak defensively. Nevertheless, cmon United!

Quite a few questions about injuries, so here's an estimate of what injuries we have:
Kagawa (concussion, no return date but seems he's on his way to Dortmund anyway)
    Smalling (groin, no return date)
Herrera (ankle/foot injury, return date after international break)
Fellaini (ankle/foot injury, return date after international break)
    Lingard (knee, no return date)
Shaw (hamstring, return date after international break)
    Rafael (groin, no return date)
Carrick (ankle/foot injury, return date 5th October)

And Rojo still absent due to lack of work permit

I don't rate him at all, he is just below average in every aspect. Rojo played LB in the WC and Blind played LWB in the WC aswell. Get your facts straight.
I have my facts straight, Rojo played as an LB in the WC because of the lack of players in that position for Argentina, and Blind was awarded player of the year in Eredivise last season as a DM.

However, lets agree to disagree and look forward to the game instead, the Evans discussion is for another thread :) I am so excited to see Di María walk onto the pitch today in a red shirt

Surprised Rafael missed out. I'd play him over Valencia anyday.

Any extreme outcome to this match could be devastating to the rest of our season.

If we lose, obviously the meltdown will be fully on.

If we smash them, LVG might be stupid enough to think he doesn't need to go after another stud midfielder in the next 2 days.

Well considering Michael Keane is 21 and Evans is 26 and was a captain in that game, he should've done much much better, but he didn't, he was worse than Keane against Mk fecking Dons.
He wasn't worse than Keane, but, yes, he should have done better. So should basically every Utd player that game. He wasn't the only player to underperform. At least his error was a freak mistake. I'd be more worried if he was constantly out of position, which he wasn't. Rio and Vida made freak mistakes also. People are going way overboard on his performance.

Midfield looking very light and unbalanced to me and we all know the problems we have had with this back 3 system.

I maybe wrong, will see what happens.

Mata should drop in and make it a 3 but he does looks a liability there from midfield runners.

Not the strongest aspect of his game by any means unless Rooney does that job instead.

Asking a lot from Di Maria playing alongside Fletcher today.

With injuries and departures its expected from Gaal to be honest but again goes to show how big a problem CM is for us, even with Blind.

Our attacking players really need to take the game by the scruff of the neck and dominate.

Has no one noticed that Fletcher has been diabolical?
Have you watched Anderson at all?

Jones maybe had a shout of getting in over Fletcher, some people even think Perreira but no way does Anderson.

In all honesty I think we'll manage with Blind either way until we move in for Strootman come January. And I also very much doubt that's the way van Gaal thinks.

Absolutely. LVG literally has to have a holding/defensive midfielder in any of his teams and he really has no other choice than Fletcher.
Fletcher is not even close to being anywhere near being a premiership holding midfielder

And you think Anderson would be better? At least Fletcher offers something defensively. It's all irrelevant because Van Gaal would never have even considered starting Ando ahead of Fletch.

    1 CM?

I hope generic Englishname #1 and Englishname #2 don't overrun us in midfield today :(

Rojo is an orthodox LB, look it up. Blind started his career as LB, only recently was tested as DM, but played the LWB role in the WC.

Good shout Jones but seriously as bad as Anderson has been Im shocked that Fletcher is ever to pull on red again.

Let's be honest here - Evans is nothing more than an average defender. I think Jones and Smalling are better than him. How he still gets games I have no idea.

    Is Smalling injured?
    Are you for real?

In the Premier League era, we have only faced Burnley twice before. The last time we faced them at Turf Moor, Burnley beat Manchester United 1:0, with Carrick missing a penalty too.

    Starting XI's from that match:
Burnley: Jensen, Alexander, Carlisle, Mears, Bikey, Jordan, Elliott, McCann, Fletcher, Paterson, Blake

Manchester United: Foster, Brown, O'Shea, Evans, Evra, Park, Anderson, Carrick, Giggs, Owen, Rooney

Just two players from that Manchester United XI start today: Rooney and Evans
