Bugger missed the lineups prediction deadline.

    Here is what I predict:

    De Gea

    Valencia
    Jones
    Evans
    Blackett
    Young

    Fletcher
    Di Maria

    Mata

    RVP
    Rooney

    11 points down the pan.

Expected lineup, I was hoping for Di Maria playing further up

Evans had a chance to redeem himself for the last 8 years, he didn't and he never will. I always supported players that came from United youth system, but Evans is just a bad football player.
I don't know, it seems like you have a negative bias against him as many people have reqognized Evans as a very good center back for us the last couple of years, including me. It also doesn't really help your case when you are making statements about us signing three left backs when in reality two of them aren't left backs but a CB and a DM.

Burnley starting XI: Heaton; Trippier, Duff, Shackell (c), Mee; Arfield, Jones, Marney, Taylor; Ings, Jutkiewicz.
Subs: Gilks, Ward, Reid, Long, Wallace, Sordell, Barnes.

The game I'm looking to is the first derby which is 2 months on Sunday. By then I'm confident that we'll be looking considerably better than we of now, and that we'll be able to give them a good game unlike last year.

Manchester United starting XI: De Gea, Jones, Evans, Blackett, Valencia, Young, Fletcher, Di Maria, Mata, Rooney (c), van Persie.
Subs: Januzaj, Hernandez, Welbeck, James, M. Keane, Anderson, Amos.

Young, Valencia and Fletcher doesn't give me much confidence after last week, hopefully Di Maria can spark some life into the midfield.

With Cleverley and Kagawa left out of the squad entirely, it seems moves for them are close.

Replace Fletcher with Herrera and get Rafael and Shaw fit, and all of a sudden we look a very good side, on paper at least.
Indeed. And damn, is that an attacking side.

It's funny how often the 3-5-2 has been labelled boring as that line up would be exceptionally attacking.

So much negativity in this thread, i thought there'd be more excitement about di maria starting.

Phil Jones is our best defender.

Anyway, incredibly excited for this but not expecting miracles. Just please, get the damn win.

It's funny, people keep moaning about the 352 as if we've feared so much better with 442 and 433 in the last year or so.

In the last year we've tried almost everything and we've sucked hard. This formation suits the current available players more than any other, Van Gaal sees this, people need to stop obsessing and realise it's generally been the players responsible for the poor performances and not the 352.

That midfield is so imbalanced, lets hope Mata can do a decent job playing in a deeper position.. it's not going to cut it vs Top teams imo, need to drop mata or change formation

I don't rate him at all, he is just below average in every aspect. Rojo played LB in the WC and Blind played LWB in the WC aswell. Get your facts straight.

So pumped for this game, never thought an away game at Burnley could be so exciting.

Van Gaal changed his formation just before the WC from 4-3-3 to 3-5-2 and now hes being stubborn with changing back. 3-5-2 will not work with the quality of players we have on the pitch today. he needs to go back to 4-4-1-1 or 4-3-3.
I agree. We should move to 4-3-3 as soon as possible and thats when all our injured players and new signings are fit then i think LVG will move to 4-3-3. I think its good for players to get to know this formation(3-5-2) because we gonna need it in the future, where we can change formations when it doesn't go our way. Cant wait until after the break when a lot of our players are back

Jones is our best tackler, not our best defender. His positioning is terrible. Evans is our best all-round defender, recent poor game aside (lol at anyone suggesting Keane should have played ahead of him, Keane was even worse than Evans against MK Dons). Smalling is a great defender in terms of just defensive attributes, but terrible on the ball.

I'm hoping we score a few goals today. 3+ goals would be nice, maybe one each for Rooney, Van Persie and the new lad

It's still surreal as feck that Di María will play for us. Even more so than when we signed van Persie and Mata, imo. I'm a bit sceptical when it comes to a midfield duo with Fletcher and Di María though, but given our situation there's not much LvG can do, I guess. For the first time ever, I think, I'm happy there's a int. break. The next game is in two weeks and by than we'll have Herrera, Shaw and Rojo (I hope :nervous:) available.
    This!

Well considering Michael Keane is 21 and Evans is 26 and was a captain in that game, he should've done much much better, but he didn't, he was worse than Keane against Mk fecking Dons.
