Blind's English and the way he talks are brilliant. Dutch players altogether come across very well / seem to be very intelligent. You couldn't guess they were footballers.

Did anybody else have a 5 second shock when it sounded like He made room in the squad for the Jews?. I was baffled by that until I realised it was youth!. What a cracking accident

I also liked at the end how he made falcao feel good by acknowledging him trying to speak English for us. He didnt shy away, and he deserved praise. Loved that.

That's 15 I can think off and I'm sure there's a few more.
Cheers. Knew it was a lot but never realised it was that many. Looks like Moyes was actually spot on last season when he said we needed a clearout and needed to sign 3-4 top quality players.

It's funny because with only about 8 days of the window left people were saying ''What happened to the supposed clear out and war chest?''

Very quickly we axed lots of deadwood and got in 2 world class players and a few other near signings. I didn't realise we had got rid of as many as 15 either, it's because it just happened so quickly.

Valera also, on loan to Real, though not sure if he's really out or if he'll be back.

Both Will and Michael Keane are in the same boat.
Michael is out on loan till January only.

Will is still at the Club unless i missed something ?

That pictures especially the one where it seems they're walking towards the camera are cringey as feck.

And LVG's answer on Welbeck though straightforward was pretty stupid, not surprising

Watched the full press conference and looks like Van Gaal loves Falcao.
I love Falcao too. What a guy! And I hear he can kick a ball too. He has to be the most handsome and humble footie player I've ever seen. He's going to get gigantic exposure. And he sounds so sincere about wanting to be a part of this project. This new team is really exciting me after years of average football. Fasten your seatbelts, this is going to be a great ride.

I see skysports changed the title of their article from "Van Gaal: Welbeck not good enough" to "Van Gaal:Welbeck not prolific". Though when you click on it, it still says the former.

I'm sure he didn't just look at the numbers and say Welbz needed to go. He's not an idiot.

He's done it because he believes Welbeck doesn't have the required quality, Falcao is here, and he believes more in Wilson. And in relation to the latter, from what I've seen Wilson clearly looks the one with the most potential.

It's sad to see Welbeck go, but it's pointless debating it. The truth is he may become a Sturridge or he may become a nobody. No one has the answer.

Sounds about right. LvG probably didn't consider Giggs as one of those 14 or he didn't consider someone like Vidic who was gone before he took over?

We sold David Beckham, I got over it and moved on. We sold Ronaldo, I got over it and moved on. Compared to those two being sold, Welbeck doesn't even register. Yes he was a good local lad who was good running with the ball and was willing to track back when we lost possession. But he was never in the same league as DB and CR7.

I really can't understand all the consternation about his being moved on to make way for more young talent. I know that Wilson is from Staffordshire and not from Manchester but he is an exciting young talent that has got loads of top professionals talking.

Please let's move on.
It's because Danny is English. Where is the fuss over Chicharito? He scored far more vital goals for United than Danny ever did. As you say they are making a fuss about nothing. We have lost far better players than Danny, but this time we have actually replaced them with quality.

LVG's first response to the Welbeck question was to say that he had spoken to Welbeck before Falcao was decided upon.

Then LVG spoke about youth and young players.

So it was Wilson who pushed Chicharito and Welbeck out.

Only later on does LVG say that Rooney and RVP are the standard and defends getting Falcao when a player of his abilities is available.

The bottom line is that Wilson can develop behind Rooney and RVP, but Welbeck wasn't keeping either of those out of the team anytime soon.

I'm sad that Welbeck left, but I respect LVG for being willing to promote and make space for youth.

Hard choices had to be made. Less matches mean fewer opportunities. Saying that RVP and Rooney are at a higher standard than Welbeck and Chicharito is only pointing out the obvious.

It says a lot about how standards have fallen in terms of what is expected from Manchester United by both supporters and ABU's alike when the loss of a player like Welbeck is mourned to such a degree. If Fergie had got rid of Danny during United's peak years i.e. 99-02 and brought in Ruud, no one would have batted an eyelid due to faith in SAF's judgement and the acknowledgement such a goalscoring record wasn't upto the calibre expected at such a great club.

Now it seems like the end of the world. I really like Danny and there is no doubt this boy has it in him to explode, I would not have sold him.. I'd be more inclined to getting rid of Rooney et al before Danny purely because he's a runner and we could do with some legs in this team. However if Wilson comes in and can become a top player, by all means take that risk..

At the end of the day you give youth players a chance only because they might save you millions by becoming star players themselves, Danny has had alot of years to prove he is a star player, he wasn't... he was a solid squad player. The money United have now, it makes no sense to take a gamble on Welbeck potentially breaking out into a top striker v not only a proven quantity but by all accounts when fully fit.. the best number 9 in the world. This in addition to a youngster who already seems he is a much more clinical player than Welbeck.. and possibly just as talented in general.

This ain't no local boy's community club, this is Manchester United.. whole world of top talent out there, one local lad leaving is not the end of the world. Welbeck might score 20+ next season, we can go out and buy someone who can score 40+.. because we are United, not Arsenal.

This whole Welbeck thing is going to go back and forth now. Wenger and Welbeck are going to weigh in to what LVG said yesterday.

The reaity is that Welbeck just wasn't going to get enough games for us. Not because of a vendetta against him, but because the players we have that he is competing with were better choices to play. He may not have made the bench this weekend, and young Wilson looks like he could become a proper player.

At Arsenal, Welbeck may well end up losing his preferred spot to Giroud when his is fit, a player that we would have no interest in ever buying.

I really hope that United's Juice policy becomes a phrase we all use.
Hopefully Van Gaal knows of plenty of young, promising Dutch players coming through and we can snap up some Oranje Juice. :nervous:

I don't want to re-open the Welbeck debate in here but, regardless of how you feel about his sale and LvG's reasons, I think we can all agree that it's refreshing to once again have a manager that is 100% confident in his convictions and is willing to follow through on his decisions. No dallying around, he just considered Welbeck inferior to what we have, saw potential in Wilson and decided to offload Welbeck.

We have started the season poorly and I still have doubts about 3-5-2, but I still have complete faith in LvG.

This. Different clubs, different player recruitment needs. Welbeck would be 4th choice here but is now most likely first choice for Arsenal. That says more about the lack of striker options at Arsenal than Welbeck's quality.

i hope the fans are over with welbeck.

yes it is sad to see a 23 year old england international academy lad moves but there are reasons for this as being explained van gaal.

one thing that we could actually done better is with the price. one thing gary neville is right imo is that welbeck should cost at least a few million pounds more. 20-25 million sounds like the right price for me.

anyway signing falcao seems like a dream :D hope he can produce his porto and atletico form here and we can make his move permanent.
