Young has been great and deserves applaud for rebuildubg his united career with his new position. I still feel we need a world class centre half .

Any idea what's up with Di Maria and Microphone head

Right, when we play better, it's because the opposition is shit and it won't provide a marker of tougher teams and we are unconvincing as usual. . When we play shit, it's because we've been unconvincing as usual.

I'm getting the hang of this.
    Nailed it mate.

We havent looked completely dominant but we deserve the lead, 1 or 2 shaky moments. Overll good play though, Rooney's having a strong game. Falcao RVP Young and Mata all playing well

How was that Gouffran incident in the box a penalty. According to Scholes it was definite penalty. There was barely any contact ffs.

I'm not sure how you can be coming out with that after the half I just watched. I thought all the players played well.
To be fair he started extremely poorly and put in a couple of challenges that could at best be described as "limp wristed".

After that he was mostly tidy defensively but clueless in possession.

Sorry I disagree. It's a stop gap solution. Hes much better employed as a false nine that drops into midfield to draw defenders out while maximising his scoring ability. We have midfielders who are far superior in terms of spatial awareness, control and movement in possesion.
Maybe, and I would agree if we played like a Barca type team who controlled possession at a faster tempo. For a counter attack style (which was pretty much both goals), Rooney wouldnt have scored those goals playing much more forward. Plus when he drops deeper he would have been tracked by a central defender.

Of course, we shall see where it goes from here given our injuries keep on happening and we are looking far away from a settled midfield.

Rooney and Mata have played well as the movement in front of them has combined well to open up space and give forward passing options, nice to see the team functioning as a more fluid unit, and Young has had another good game at LWB.

Hope we can get a 3rd early and maybe give Pereira 25 minutes.

Looks like we are playing 3-3-4 with mata, rooney, carrick the midfield three and robin falcao young and Valencia up front. We look really threatening going forward.

But jones, Evans, and McNair are a mistake waiting to happen.

    Not convinced with what?
Not convinced with Van Gaal's game plan, as well as the position of the players on the pitch when we're on the ball. Some great movements when we (rarely) win the ball back though, but most of time it's still possession for the sake of it, which ultimately ends up with a ball played wide for Young to cross in the box. When the opposition is behind the ball, I find us quite easy to defend against, as our passing game is slow and predictable.

I guess it will take time to see a more spontaneous and daring brand of football.

And yes I am probably too demanding.

5 of our 6 summer signings not in the match day squad.
Of the last 8 players we have signed, only two of them are out there on the pitch today.
When you put it like that then winning games is a terrific achievement. This is Ferguson's squad out there.
Yep and it also puts paid to the idea that our title winning team (of champions) turned to junk last Summer. Somehow Moyes managed to reduce virtually every player in our squad.
    His man-management must've been terrible.

He just couldnt manage a team of champions.

Seriously there must be something going on with our medical department..

Hopefully it's just a mindfeck for spurs match..

Haven't been able to watch the game but I'm pleased with the scoreline so far. How have we played?
Mata, rooney, FALCAO and RVP linked up great so far.
De gea made 1 great save from janmaat
Young has done quite well put in a couple ver good crosses in.
Still look shaky at the back McNair needs to up his game

I don't understand this RVP bashing. He is playing well and actually pulled the defenders away from Falcao for the first goal when he ran to Falcao's opposite end. RVP is holding the ball well. It is Evans and Mcnair who are looking shaky.

A forward line of Rooney, Mata, RvP and Falcao isn't a problem though. It's a dream.
It's still a problem when none of them have pace, and it's still not a balanced forward line. We have had better forward lines in the past then the current one, it will do to get us a top 4, but it's Not a forward line that should continue next season

His first touch and ball control has been poor though.
Won possession for the first goal, got the assist for the second. And I think his touch is improving (remember how he looked against Stoke?) His movement is incredible, a joy to watch.

I know this is the match thread but I am happy that Everton are struggling this season after all the sh1t their fans gave us and DM.

Strootman is also a sick-note who is returning from major injury.
And he hasnt been playing too well since his return.

I'd rather we get players who are not made of glass.
I'm sick of seeing us spend big money on Mr Glass.

Hope we can get a third goal so we can take off Rooney as he's on 3 bookings this season and you just know he will be booked against Spurs if he's booked today.
