countless players playing out of position when their actual position is occupied by someone else also playing out of position, all in a system that clearly doesn't work. phil fecking jones taking our corners with mata, rooney, di maria et al on the pitch. is this being done as a joke or for a bet?

we were easier to watch with 15 injuries. at least then you could watch safe in the knowledge that needs must and once everyone's fit we'll play differently. too much more of this and lvg needs to go, watching united is a chore at the minute. after such an exciting summer and wondering just how aroused i'd feel with di maria marauding over the pitch, rooney, van persie and falcao making runs with a real, actual midfield of actual midfielders doing midfielding behind them for the first time ever and this shit is served up week after week after week. this is really, really shit.

Hes either got to change it, or the board need to change it.

Van Gaal is doing his best to pass the point of no return. Top 4 will be out of reach in a month unless Van Gaal has a relevation: play on a normal formation and play the players in their fecking positions.

The match today looks like a pisstake. Lets be fair if someone in the summer would have said that we would play:

De Gea

Valencia Jones Evans Rojo Blind

Carrick Rooney

Mata

Di Maria Falcao

nd Jones will be taking our corners we would all think that he's a lunatic.

We're not looking like a worthy rivals against a team that will get relegated this season and it's not because they fight for their lives to stay in the PL, no, we're that fecking shit.

There's nothing smart about what he's doing right now. It's ignorance.

Not a chance. We cannot be that club that sacks a manager after eight months. No one will want to join.

It was one thing letting a no-mark like Moyes go before he'd even been in the job a year, but if you start to show a willingness to drop managers with a world famous name the moment things turn sour then no one of any decent calibre will ever sign up for the job.

Magical Manchester United.
We weren't this shit under Moyes. Seriously.
It is pretty much the same now in the last few weeks, starting with the Stoke game. Before that we were playing 3-5-2 as well but at least kept creating chances, even when we drew with Tottenham. But since the turn of the year we've been every bit as bad as last season.

So many problems that could so easily be fixed. Someone clip LVG round the head and tell him to stop messing around and take this seriously.

Basically this. Van Gaal has it in him to make us do well but he's stubborn as feck and its costing us just so he can prove his 3-5-2 can work for us. Just play our Di maria in midfield and Rooney up top and we'll be 100 times better. Amazing how everyone but him can see it.

At least under Moyes we had an excuse that we were in transition, that the manager needed time, that the squad needed improvements.

At least earlier this season we had the excuses that it was again a new manager and we were plagued by injuries.

Now however, the excuses have run out and therefore it becomes truly unbearable to watch.

Chelsea and Madrid say hello.

Not that I advocate sacking LVG now. But questions need to be asked on what hes trying to achieve.

I've always maintained that such arguments were poor, but I'm actually starting to think David Moyes, backed with these signings, would do better. Which isn't half saying much.

Ugliest half of football I've seen from a United side.

The technical level is shocking. To think this squad has cost, what, 300 million?

we've spent 150m and look like a patchwork squad made up of anyone who's kicked a football in the last 5 years.

I think Chelsea have proved that you can change managers whenever you feel like it and it doesn't stop recruiting another man.

As it stands, LVG's reign is looking to be heading the way of a complete trainwreck. I honestly can't believe what I'm watching, given the players we're fielding.

He's proving to be just as clueless as the manager that preceded him.

Say what you want about not wanting the managerial seat to be a bunch of revolving doors like Chelsea but they haven't done too badly either, have they? It's not quite gotten to the 'LvG out' stage yet, but he's fast approaching it if he continues the way he's doing. There's a reason why his last club job before taking up the United job was at AZ Alkmaar and why only Spurs wanted him in the summer.

The only differences I can see from last season is:

- Much more luck
- Less crosses
- Less shots on goal
- More possession
- Different formation
- Better against the bigger teams
- Worse against the lower teams
- Better at home
- Worse away

Apart from that, it's been largely the same shite, just under a different manager, albeit a more likeable one.

van gaal is so fortunate that Moyes softened the blow and lowered our expectations. If van gaal took over straight after fergie then he'd get much much more stick. But we were probably a little worse under moyes.

I believe that our midfielders and attacking players are way better than what the system brings out of them.
Continuing to play this way is making me think Van Gaal doesn't fit the Premier League. We should have been playing better, even with all the injuries we have had.
My mind isn't set on the matter though...

Exactly. We are just giving qpr more confidence to come at us with this shithouse formation and approach.

They are slowly figuring out we are harmless in attack as long as they stay compact in the middle. Then all they need to do is hoof it up and attempt to go one on one against the likes of evans.

Yeah, Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern have always trouble getting a new manager because managers avoid them like a plague.

You could at least see what Moyes was trying to do. This is just a mad man with a huge ego who is on a crusade to show the world how brilliant and intelligent he is.

when will Van Gaal change this? so poor

I can't believe how poor he is making these player look with his tactical stupidity and intransigence

all possession and no chances - think we've had about 3/4 genuine chances in 2015

I just don’t understand what he’s trying to prove here, Di Maria up front, Rooney in midfield, Jones taking corners, Valencia as a right wing back, Mata as a ?
His chopping and changing of personnel is compounded by his tinkering with the system, is it 3-5-2, 5-1-2-1-1, 5-3-2 or 5-4-1? After hearing today’s line up, I posted in the match day thread that I had no idea who was playing where today or what the formation was going to be, I was being serious, I genuinely didn’t have a clue.

This isn’t a dig at LVG, I still believe he is the right man for the job, he has certainly brought out his mentality in the players and they are clearly playing to his tactics but I worry that his stubbornness is going to be his and the teams downfall.

Hes spent £150 million, and we are just as bad. Blaming Falcao and Di Maria for playing bad when one is out of position, and Falcao is a goal poacher not someone who we hoof the ball too, would be better with Carroll with this tactic.

Rooney in CM where he shouldn't be, he either ping's it out to Valencia or gives it away.

5 at the back does NOT work. Almost every top team across the globe play 4 at the back. Its tried and tested on all levels. Why cant we just do that. With 5 at the back, half our team are defending and for Man Utd that's not how it should be.

Everyone is fit so why are we still playing this crap? We have Januzaj being wasted away, a huge talent who just needs to play more.
