Chelsea's recent transfers have been nothing short of exceptional - qualtiy/price/how they've turned out.

It's really annoying.
The funny thing is pretty much everyone scoffed when they hired Emenalo, as they considered him a puppet for Roman.

I really like cuadrado and would have loved to see him come here when there were all the rumors last summer, but I have to wonder why he would move to Chelsea. He's going to be 2nd to Hazard before he even steps foot on English soil, and recently they've had a habbit of buying brilliant players and sticking them on the bench so much they want to leave (hence we have Mata, and Salah and Schurle are leaving). Though I guess if you can afford to have exceptional back-up too it makes sense. Shame for the players who're good enough to walk into most top teams wasting their careers on the bench though.

No. He has to fight with Willian for the spot on the right wing.

I wonder where Cuadrado is going to fit. Chelsea fans keep telling us how good Willian is and how he's so important to the team. Surely they're not paying £23m for a bench player?

I've yet to be impressed with Willian. Solid player but nothing particularly exceptional about him. I reckon Cuadrado shouldn't have too much of a problem taking his spot from him, provided he can live up to his reputation and price tag.

I agree. The Chelsea fans love Willian but he's just a hard working, fast player. Too poor on the ball to be a regular starter.

They'll all change their tune on him if Mourinho drops him, of course.

He's fantastic on the ball. Just has no end product (scoring or passing).

This is quite jaw dropping levels of bollocks. Poor on the ball? Willian? Seriously? Oh and you know that Willian IS our regular starter on the right, right?:lol::lol:

For those who like a bet, Cuadrado is 6/4 (2.50/1) to stay at Fiorentina this transfer window (until 4th feb 2015) on SkyBet. Di Marzio on twitter few hours ago said Chelsea have lost interest in Cuadrado, then you've got the two managers comments. Very good odds, and I should already be making some money from them when Hummels stays at Dortmund this window too (they had it at 1/2!)
Have you been taking betting tips from Rob by any chance? ;)

I never saw much of Willian at Shakhtar, just the odd game here and there.
Am I wrong, or was he a flair player back then? As in the playmaker and hub of all their attacking moves? Pretty much seen like a flair player like Douglas Costa?

It's funny how he's now considered a 'grafter' more than anything.
Credit would go to Mourinho in that case, because he spotted the potential/attributes to turn him more into a disciplined worker (albeit still with very good technique) to good effect.

I was really excited about him in the summer when we were interested. It is a shame he will end at Chelsea and i think he will be really good player for Chelsea.

Sounds fantastic alright. His passing is atrocious for a player of his price, so sloppy.

I know he is. He shouldn't be though and it looks like he won't be much longer.

Throwing my hat in with the Willian hate.

Obviously a decent player, but never good enough without his work rate.

Yeah he was much more a playmaker back at Shakhtar

He has a €35M release clause, doesn't he? That is around £26M. With Salah going the other way and the addons, seems about right.

Why are people acting like is some kind of financial master stroke from Chelsea?

I don't think it was that bad a bet to warrant such an insult :p

The odds shifted as well so I could have bet on him to sign for Chelsea and guaranteed a profit but I only stuck £5 on it so thought I'd just leave it.

£23m isn't that much for a squad player who competes for a first team place at a top side these days.

Yep.

Because Chelsea are the best at negotiating transfers and we're crap, even though Costa and Luis also had release clauses, and the Luis transfer actually dragged on for a while, and even though Cuadrado and Fabregas would have wanted to move to Champions League clubs only which ruled us out, we're still inept.

Ever since they mugged PSG for the Luiz fee they've been viewed by some as transfer geniuses with every move. Torres is long forgotten...

He's great on the ball, holds up play very well, excellent when we need to maintain possession. Schurrle would probably be the better player if we needed to play a counter attacking game. Willian slows down the game when we counter by bringing back the ball and that gets really frustrating when the oppositions pushed up for a corner. His dribbling and workrate are also key assets of his. An issue for him is getting in the box and scoring goals, he's also lacking in assists.

Just shows what a good management that they have at Chelsea. They identify a need and go and get that player. They are building a team to win, not waiting for a superstar to put in their display cabinet.

Sounds exactly like Navas. There's a definite lack of high-quality right sided midfielders in football at the minute.

To be honest, I don't blame Willian. He isn't really a natural winger, perhaps more of an advanced midfielder. I would guess that is why he doesn't usually take on the fullback and prefers to move centrally.

Who says we're waiting for a superstar. Most likely explanation is we have identified targets but they're unobtainable this window as there aren't many clubs who'd sell their best players in January. The only reason Fiorentina are is because Cuadrado has a release clause and the player has been wanting to leave for a while.

Im sure some people on here took the piss when I suggested we might get over 30 million for Schurrle Salah and Cech.

He'll wear squad no. 74 apparently, as seven and four add up to eleven, which is his favorite number.
