Yeah they might, but they definitely don't need a Ball winning midfielder behind them necessarily, they just need a third man who can defend. Don't you agree?
It's not like they 'need' a cover behind, but I feel that a cover behind will bring the best out of them. Both have workrate and contribute more offensively, so a player to keep things tidy at the back would make your midfield a complete set, imo.

Yaya...Pogba
.....DM......

is more balanced than

......AM.......
Yaya...Pogba

imo.

Yeah, I completely agree, I just meant that they didn't need a Mascherano/J.Martinez/Busquets behind them.
Pirlo could've been perfect :(

I reckon Busquets would have done really well there. He's much more complete than the other two players you've mentioned.

Ha ha.

I was actually leaning towards Mascherano. I consider him to be the most defensively sound and with these 2 to make plays, I'd gladly trade Busquets passing to Mashcerano's defensive presence.
It's a matter of approach really and that's exactly the flexibility I was talking about with those two midfielders so early:
Take a more defensive midfielder- For example, Mascherano. You better build a counter attacking team because that midfield trio can withstand massive amounts of pressure and will thrive on the counter attack with quick forwards.
Take a deep creative midfielder - For example, Carrick. You can play more possession football, with the midfielder sitting above the defensive line starting attacks from deep with one of Pogba-Yaya moving forward and the other coming to help early, while on the defense he needs have enough defensive awareness to sweep attacks. Carrick is the perfect example I assume.

Both works, just requires different types of attackers I guess.

Godin was my first choice, but when he was picked I went for him. Very good player with a fantastic nationality.
Yeah. He needs to prove himself more in big tournaments, but very good CB nonetheless.

Pogba was probably going to be my next pick to complete my midfield. Need his type next to Modric and in front of Busquets. Vidal was my first choice. 2/3 midfield choices ain't bad so I'm not complaining.

Going for the "safer" pick on my mind at this point. Can play as a right or left back. César Azpilicueta. It was hard to find a picture of him not smiling.

There are probably better players available, but for the system I am currently planning on implementing, he is the best fit.

Edinson Cavani.

There's still some fantastic names still up for grabs from quite obscure countries (not the big guns like Brazil, Germany, Spain etc).

Big fan of this draft. Obviously I enjoy the drafts that stretch back to the 50s etc as it's quite educational and interesting, but it's nice for once to recognize all the players that are being drafted

Big fan of VivaJanuzaj's midfield.

Big fan of VivaJanuzaj's midfield.
Cheers mate, I'm quite fond of it too :)

@Snow I actually think Azpi is a very good pick in terms of flexibility which is incredibly important in this particular drafting process. The only problem with Azpi is him being Spanish which will limit you later on and maybe overshadows the flexibility given by him position wise

I realized that negativity but I didn't foresee any other Spanish player for my first 11. There are a few that I could have picked but with Busquets already here I would never have been able to pick them all anyways.

Damn. Wanted Pepe. But had doubt, for which country he will be counted? Portugal or Brazil?

Since he was born in Brazil.

I think Pepe is a top 5 CB in this draft. He holds bad memories for people but in the past 2-3 years he's been Madrid's best defender.

Decided against the other defender you were looking at, then? I saw the threads you were looking at and he didn't get very good ratings.
:D nothing can pass the caf detectives nowadays.

Really? dang it. You're right. There goes my hope getting Kaka and Ronaldinho in the next round.

Risky shit going for Pepe, I actually thought about it too but Pepe is likely to be seen as a loose cannon for voters who don't see enough of him in La Liga
Yeah. Now my team is a collection of hard bastards.

I think Pepe is a top 5 CB in this draft
That's an overstatement imo, I'd rate it as such:
T.Silva-Vidic
Terry
Ramos
Hummels-Chiellini-Kompany-Pepe all pretty even
Varane-Benatia-Godin-Boateng all pretty even

Another problem I see in Pepe pick is that it means Mascherano's ability to play CB is pretty much toast here, because Pepe-Mascherano are probably the worst complimentary partner for each other

That's why I was looking at the other CB. But meh, the like of Eissen had bad reputation, but people still think he's class.

Disagree with the ratings there.

Who would draft Mascherano early and play him as a CB?
