Why? Its not okay when the team was fighting for glory on your behalf so you enjoy being fans of a winning team. Who are you to judge how they should behave (objectively speaking, if they acted out of order, they would be carded. Who are you to judge!!!)

The 1976 final was a bit special, even after the final whistle blew and we'd lost to Southampton, the noise level from United fans was incredible. I remember going down to Albert Square to see the lads and to hear The Doc promise that we'd be back the next year. But the run up to that game was also special. United put a token scheme in place for tickets so reserve games were well attended. I think they even put a token on the programme sheet for a youth match. We got to the ground a few hours before the tickets went on sale and a good time was had by all in the queue, which seemed to stretch for miles around the ground and up Warwick Road.
The 77 final was fantastic. Nobody really doubted that we'd win, even though Liverpool were firm favourites. I dug out my old butcher's coat, scrawled "Greenhoff, J" on it, and was ready for Wembley. The funny thing was bumping into a lost Scouser on Wembley way who'd got separated from his mates. He told us that he was heading off to Rome as soon as the game was over, even though he didn't have a ticket. I hope he managed to get in.

Seriously you can't have your cake and eat it. If you ever been involved even at the lowest level in any sporting game, you need to have some passion to play, without which the competition is nothing.
Interestingly we got Southampton away in '77 in the cup in one of the early rounds I managed to get a ticket from one of my dad's mates who lived in Southampton. Absolute brilliant atmosphere. . Ended 2-2 and we beat them in the return at OT. Loved the Doc and the whole era then. It was amazing how proud people were to sing 'brummie reds', 'cokney red', 'tartan reds' ...etc are 'reds are every fecking where'. Still remember wearing Oxford Bags, Polished Doc Martins, Doctors coat, Cap, scarves. Probably look a right dick now a days, though we did re-do a 70s away day trip to Blackburn once that went down well.Loved this game (1st half)

It was a joke in response to someone accusing me of having been drinking. Its not meant to be an insult (even if he was trying to demean my post. Anyhow, I guess a bystander like you would jump to the opportunity. What can I do? Do i need to apologise to anyone who's being offended?

The joke in that post was responding to someone who's Irish (well his location is Ireland) and I have a wee feeling he wouldn't mind one bit when being accused of drinking (many Irish I know are actually proud of such accusation!)
Plus, drinking is NOT = alcoholics/heavy drinkers.
I remember when The Doc bought George Graham to Old Trafford to help stave off relegation in 1973. He was a bit past it then but what he lacked in pace he made up for in intelligence. But before that, we signed this bloke on the right. Remember him and the yellow and blue away strip?

I'm not overly offended (i'm Irish myself btw) i just hate stereotypes like that about anyone, and always call people on them.
But anyway lets not get into a pointless 20-30 post debate in a thread like this one that Moriarty is updating with nice old pictures, how about we just chalk it off as a poor choice of words and leave it at that.
