Think Australia will miss Harris as the series goes on, only Hazelwood can hold down an end when needed.

NSW are getting fogged.

Queensland to reach 100 before England.
Was there ever such a one-sided Origin? You could see it from the first 5 minutes that Queensland were so much hungrier!

Bell needs to be dropped from the team, badly out of form.

It was fecking beautiful - the most one sided origin in history.

Was it as good as St Kilda vs Essendon?
100% better as a Queenslander, but the Saints game was very good. Hird on the brink if they get beat this week. Bomber Thompson thinks they need to make a call soon on him.

I know this is late but disappointed to see Ali picked over Rashid again.
I disagree, I'd hate to see Rashid go the way of Kerrigan and get smacked all over the place and never get a look in, England should have played him in the West Indies to blood him for this series. However as a leggie he does need a bit of protection and especially with Cook's captaincy I do worry with Rashid against the Aussies.

That Haddin drop has been huge already, would have 43-4 with the inexperienced middle order of Stokes, Buttler and Ali up.

I don't disagree with that, he absolutely should have played in West Indies. But Ali has struggled to even get the tail out as of late, I just can't see him being the long time spinner for England. Swann was just saying on 5live he wasn't shocked England went with Ali but he thinks Rashid will end up being the better bowler for England.

I think Rashid will, not much in it batting wise either to be honest.

Not seen that much of Hazlewood before. Seriously impressive.

The rest, not so much. Johnson looks past his best, Lyon's always been decent at best, Starc's not getting it right (though I fancy he will at some point) and Watson only ever looks good when his side's dominating.

Not a fun pitch to bowl on, from the looks of it, mind.

EDIT - Does Smith still bowl a bit, or has that been neglected after he turned out to be a brilliant batsman?

Who've they got to come in if (I stress 'if') the bowling line up requires changing?
Ian Healy with the stupidest comment of the day.

Siddle is next then Cummins. Mitch Marsh can replace Watson for good (hopefully)

Starc needs to bend his back and start working for it, he bowls within himself in tests IMO.

I said to my partner when Bell fell that we'd need at least one of these pair in at tea, and possibly until the end of the day. So far, so good.

Cook will have a great series.

Don't rate any of the Aussie bowlers in England other than Hazelwood. Starc has yet to do it in red ball cricket and Johnson's clearly not at the level he was 2 years ago (and he doesn't have a great record in England??). Lyon got smashed around by Essex too.

Be interested to see him. Was doing nicely in the warm ups, if memory serves.

Not at all convinced by Ballance, great record but he's struggling against the short and full ball it seems.

Joe Root is going to break all of the English batting records, already in my top 5 English batsmen of all time (that I've watched I hasten to add)

He's going to be a legend. He has a sound technique but he also scores quickly. Wonderful combination of the old and the new.
