I would drop Schweinsteiger and put on Fellaini. Mata is doing enough but we need another to punch through the middle. This passing out to Memphis and Rooney, hoping that they will score is getting us nowhere. Need someone to attack through the middle. That or Fellaini on for Januzaj.
    how would that work?

We've given them too much respect. We should be looking to start games with a bit of ruthlessness. We're good enough to attack these lot. No need to be cautious.
To be fair though that's exactly how we started. We've just been a bit unlucky

one of those games if Rooney is judged onside and scores this game is over by halftime with probably 3 goals.. Started to see the old United but we regressed to slow United after 30 mins.. I assume Herrera will come in if the score stays 0-0 for Bastian or adnan. These games we have to win no excuses

We need a striker to occupy the Newcastle defensive line to provide more space for our other attackers. Newcastle were getting more compact because our striker just drops deep.

Good first 20 mins, awful 2nd. We look tired and are chasing shadows at times, mata especially is looking very tired and not being effective at all. Get young on as there is plenty of space.

Memphis doing well but should have scored, Been a bit on and off. We need to be much better with the pace 2nd half as we be passed backwards and built up far too slowly.

    You are missing a lot.
Nah it's a great game we've just been a bit wasteful so far and it's a little open

Is it a game we look like we can win though its just a few comments say NUFC could get a draw out of this. That says to me were playing inconsistently.

It does seem like a typical United performance though making it harder than it needs to be

Irrespective of the disallowed goal we should have had at least a further 2 if the decision making was better! We seemed to have lost our shape towards the end of the half and the breather will help us to reorganise. Rooney's confidence is shot. Bring on Herrera for Januzaj, it'll give us more control in midfield and help to negate the threat of wijnaldum.

Mata has been excellent, and ahead of Smalling as our best player this first half. Especially lovely to watch the Spaniard when he's in the mood. Darmian's my pick to up his game, since he's the only defender on our side who can't say he's had a good half. He'll be weary with a yellow hanging over his head though so I wouldn't mind him shifting for Valencia at this point. Depay, bright though he looks, needs to start turning dangerous situations into clear chances- but with the way he's taking the game to Mbemba it's only a matter of time. Januzaj and Rooney look sharp but their not getting on the ball enough in areas that have decisive importance.

A decent half of football, but a higher tempo shouldn't mean sloppier play in the middle third. Should have capitalised on our domination when we were on top because Newcastle look content to nick something on the counter down Darmian's side.

It is the kinda game that when/if Utd scores, there will be add 2-3 more. Newcastle are very open and it is frustrating we haven't capitalized.

I don't know why Memphis is getting a hard time on here... When he got the ball he did something more often than not. He's the only player looking to go past people which you need.

We should win it, but we messed up in the last tier.

I prefer to look at the bigger picture, the gulf between these sides is much better than a bad offiside call.
The big picture is United started a lot better, managed to capitalize on it but it was disallowed. After that there were some more chances that weren't finished off and Newcastle managed to get into the game. United have clearly been better but more mistakes have followed as the game progressed.

For all the control and other eye-catching stuff we had in the first half, it's ridiculous to see us waste chances like we did. We need better finishing if we want to get more results going our way. If it were for me, Chicharito should some on at the 60th minute mark and I hope that will be the case.

Referee's a totally daft asshole so far, but so was the linesman on the disallowed goal. Go feck yourselves, sons of bitches.

His decision making has been a bit off but he's making things happen and has been very active.

Best 20-25 mins for us all season and then we still played very well but did level off a bit the last 20.

We have 60% and 6-0 shots on goal.

Everyone looks pretty good. Memphis has beat his man a bunch and will get a goal or assist soon enough. Rooney is linking up play well and helping it everywhere but needs to get more involvement in the box. Januzaj is looking a bit lightweight and has the least passes of anyone, which as a 10 isn't too good.

I think we will still get a 2-0 win with Memphis, Mata and Rooney playing well. Just have to watch out for Darmian on that yellow.

Yeah, he has made some proper annoying decisions at time yet him and Januzaj are the only ones who look likely to create something for us.

Mata is absolutely useless on the right. Does he ever bother taking on his full back? How difficult is it for LvG to see Mata and Januzaj should be swapped? Or Herrera played?
It's not his game at all, I have no idea why people expect him to take on people when he is simply not that kind of player.

We've been better, and imo offer a more realistic goal threat when Mata is in the middle, with AJ and MD either side.

When it's switched, you've got the two speedier players running forward and essentially hitting a brick wall,....let Mata say in the middle and control the attack, he'll then be able to run in and finish also.

It's been a more entertaining match than either of our first two league games. I'd bring Chicharito on for Januzaj, maybe Young for Mata too.

Brilliant first 20 and should've taken the lead. McClaren has sorted them out now though and LVG needs to react to that.

Best football we've played this season in that opening period. But...... "lads it's Newcastle"

    Winaljdum looks a player.

He has. But he's also been incredibly wasteful at times by overpaying. It's the nature of the beast though.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.
What are you all complaining about? It was a very good first half with a disallowed goal that wasnt offside. We had 8 shots on target in the first 30 minutes. We will probably play even better in the second half like we did midweek. I'm happy.

You've just done a hoddle my friend... "I can see Fellaini sat on the bench looking at these crosses going in and he fancies this. He will want to get on."

Umm... No no he's still banned and I don't see him on the bench.
    I keep forgetting this
