We've given them too much respect. We should be looking to start games with a bit of ruthlessness. We're good enough to attack these lot. No need to be cautious.

Started the half at a frantic pace, this last twenty-five minutes we've been far to slow in our build up. To many passes in the final third.

We looked amazing at the start there. I'm very frustrated we couldn't score in that period, we could have blown them away then. Now that they've started to grow into the game it's knocked our confidence. Need to regain that dominance early in the second half.

Too many wrong decisions in the final 3rd but that's what happens when you play both Memphis and Januzaj. Need Herrera on in the second half

No fecking way show shite is this ref? Januzaj body checked twice off the ball, no foul. Shaw body checked during a counter attack off the ball, no foul. Januzaj has a dangerous leg breaker on him, no foul.

Balls goes out for a goal kick, corner kick is the call.

Having a striker do the basics would be a big bonus for us right now. Colocinni and Taylor have had a walk in the park against Rooney.

Memphis getting a raw deal in here now. He started well but faded as the half went on. As did everyone else in the team.

    Keep him on.

Half a half of what this team could become and half a half of what this team is at the current time.

I think that's the fairest way to put it.

Mata is absolutely useless on the right. Does he ever bother taking on his full back? How difficult is it for LvG to see Mata and Januzaj should be swapped? Or Herrera played?

Lack of through balls between Newcastle's RB and right centerback. Plenty of free space between them for Depay to exploit there.

we're so lopsided in attack. Nothing on the right, over concentration on getting it to the left.
Next to nothing in the centre.

Plenty to put right, but the first 20mins felt good.

First 20 minutes were awesome. Should have taken full advantage of that and we could have been out of sight. Newcastle have gained a lot of confidence and will come at us again. Need an early goal in the 2nd half. We need Herrera to link midfield with attack. There's a gaping hole between the two and nobody in it. Rooney drops in occasionally, but then there's little presence up top.

The ref is not great but he's not the reason we are not ahead.
It is one of those mate, if we were two goals up, not many would have noticed the ref.
The decision making all over the pitch is poor. There is nothing more aggravating to me than a midfielder passing backwards when there is a whole island infront of him.

Goals could be a big problem for this side if we don't get someone in. Memphis had a poor half. Rooney was good though and he was bloody onside as well!

Memphis and Januzaj can be good when they have their day, but when they don't - they are a big weakness as they don't track back enough after they give our opponents chances to counter.

But we should have had this match wrapped up after 15 minutes.

Young on for Januzaj in the 2nd please

It does my head in seeing Rooney roaming about the park. Who the feck are they supposed to cross to if our main striker is running around near the touchline or in the midfield.

Decent half, started off great but faded towards the end. Rooney is not having a great match but seems to have improved slightly from last games. Blind has been phenomenal IMO.

I think we will go for plan B - bring on Fellaini and Hernandez.

Also want to see Herrera play in the second.

Good start to the game, Newcastle grew in to it and looked threatening...

The build up at times has been much better but the crossing has been dire. Do they let Valencia coach the crossing sessions?

Wjinaldum looks a real player. Reckon he would do well in our side to be honest.

Encouraging start. Memphis is having a Nani sort of day. Just a little frustrating how we seem to have 2 banks of attackers on the offensive with nobody working that gigantic hole of space that always opens up between them.

Happy with that ... bar ten minutes looked promising. Best half we have played this season in the EPL. Just a shame on the finishing, that offside call on Rooney and some poor decision making. Until Romero concedes due to one of his brain farts, I find him really entertaining ;)

That was close, but I'd rather we looked a bit more assured tbf.
Yeah it's disappointing how we've not kept a hold of the game, however I can't help feeling that a lot of frustration from not scoring has creeped into out game and that is what is bringing us down. If we had gotten that goal I reckon we'd be playing a lot better.

Not only is he physically a lot weaker than before (the way Mitrovic dispossessed him showed it) but the annoying thing with Rooney is that he doesn't wanna stay up front.

A shame the ref took away Rooney's goal when he was clearly onside. We bossed the first 25 minutes but Newcastle was allowed to grow back into it. Our efforts on goal have been laughable bar a couple. Memphis looks like he wants to score a wonder goal every time he beats his defender and needs to learn better decision making and get some of those balls into the box. Our crossing from out wide has been bad. I still find Mata infuriating. He won't defend and always slows our play down. He seems to be in there for the one spark of brilliance he can produce but for large parts of the game he is just not doing enough.

We're better than the first 2 games but we should've killed the game early on, we're creating great chances but the players are extremely wasteful.

Totally, we used to make unfair and poor decisions irrelevant more often than not by imposing ourselves on the game.

Played some good stuff, Mata and Januzaj moving it well through midfield and Schweinsteiger and Blind feeding it in from deep. Memphis has been really sloppy though and Rooney has had a mixed game. Our biggest issue has been lack of clinical quality in the final third with crossing and passing.

Hopefully we can turn the play into goals in the second half but we need to be wary of Mitrovic and Wjinaldum.

Too many wrong decisions in the final 3rd but that's what happens when you play both Memphis and Januzaj. Need Herrera on in the second half
yeah, Herrera should be on. He'd be stronger than Januszaj.

Great start but back to slow play after 20mins. Januzaj and Memphis off. Herrera and young on.
What? Both have been the best players put there. It isn't there fault ref is allowing Newcastle to kick them at every opportunity.

Liverpool gets a blatantly offside goal, and we are denied a genuine one. It's time technology came into ref's decision making.
