The biggest thing I took from these 2 episodes is a reminder of what lower league football is all about. Crap burgers and tea, community spirit, volunteers, everyone chipping in, cheap beer in the clubhouse and watching your team lose in the rain.
The community spirit, the togetherness, the local element and the passion from the players and management is something which has all but been sapped from Premier League football.
It's been ages since I went to see any of my local non-league teams, I should make more of an effort really.

However again i come out of it thinking Giggs really isnt ready to manage us, a long way from it.

Organising a piss-up 2 days before big games, maybe G Nev did the leg work but surely anyone with Management credentials should have been saying "Hold up, 2 days before a game, nah mate
, make it the Saturday night after they've played, full week to recover then".

I know he isnt in it much and he isnt the talkative type anyway, but anytime i see him i come away with reasons he just should not be in charge of United any time soon. Neville, maybe, but not Giggs.
Gimme a break, kitkat.

Seddon was exactly how I've always imagined him. I'm a Telford fan and he's been a thorn in our side for several clubs over the years - Hyde, Kettering, Fleetwood in particular. One of those player who you absolutely hate as an opposition supporter but if he was on your team you'd love him, just as arrogant as I expected but in a good way.

Watched it on IPlayer tonight.

Good watch again. However again i come out of it thinking Giggs really isnt ready to manage us, a long way from it.

Hope they do a bigger second series following this season, FA Cup run etc.
Maybe being the owner of a 15th division non league club isn't the same as managing Manchester United..

Wonder if Becks feels left out sometimes.

And how the hell is Seddon a model worth £5000 a shoot. He looks just like half the guys you see shopping in your local Topman, but with a more squirrelly face

I watched a few games of the local side at the end of last season and it was exactly this except they won which is a nice bonus.

Not sure if I love or hate that Seddon bloke
Seems like a colossal bellend but he scores goals at that level so I'd want him in my team.

I started again last season. I'm no longer local to Manchester so it's a 4 hour return journey to OT for me, it's not cheap, and the atmos is fecking shocking most of the time. Instead of doing that it's 20 minutes up the road to our local National League side, get a pint of good ale right next to the ground, pay a third of the cost at OT to get in and the chip butties are magnificent.

Alfreton Town mate. Drew 1-1 with your lot last week :)

If F.C. are over this way I'll go as well
Indeed, becoming quite a long standing rivalry between us.

You'll beat FC, very very poor side. We beat them 3-1 on Tuesday and in all honesty it probably should have been 5 or 6. They'll go down unless they improve the side.

All this Giggs isn't a manger stuff is getting rather boring. We've heard nothing at all from Nicky Butt, I thought he was supposed to be a coach, why isn't he down there coaching?

You have to remember, both Giggs & Butt have full time jobs, they haven't got time for this. They put their few quid in and just sit back. The BBC have to interview Giggs, because it's Giggs, but he's not that bothered, he has bigger fish to fry, so it's not surprising he's laid back and whatever about the whole thing.

They haven't spoken to Nicky Butt at all, because the BBC think no one cares what he's got to say anyway, I suppose. Anyway, he's also got a full time job.

Gary goes into Sky a couple of days a week and writes a few articles, so he has plenty of time on his hands.
I think Phil wasn't doing much last year, so he had time on his hands to go to coaching sessions. I doubt he spends much time there this season though, now he has a proper job.
Scholes is the same as Gary, although I don't think he's that interested anyway.

Can we just give Giggs a break, no one has any idea what he's like as a manager.

Which team is it?

My realistic choice is Swindon Town in League 1 or Bath City in the National South.
Or strictly, the closest team would be Chippenham Town in the Southern Premier.

I enjoyed it however that could have been more because of personal experiences i have had with amateur aussie rules at my local team.

It's more plausible that Nicky Butt has agreed they can show him on film so long as he is not speaking. Don't blame him myself.

Very entertaining series so far. The sad thing about it is it highlights what is wrong with English football in the lower tiers. It's all about physical dominance and aggression as opposed to natural ability and technique (I hate using that word but it's right). There will be plenty of young lads out there like Sadiq who won't get the opportunity which Phil has given him.

I don't want to say it is purely down to lazy coaching because it's to do with much more than that. Its to do with the english culture and imo the fans mentality towards the game.

If I was a manager I'd love to have great technical and natural footballers but I know they wouldn't win games against teams with such a physical presence. So I either gather a team who can match them or I stick it out and have faith in these lads. I don't think many managers would have the patience.

Sorry to disappoint you but I think that was the last episode

Why would he do that then?
Strange question, there could be a score of reasons. Maybe he doesn't consider himself very articulate. Maybe he's wary of being made into a Phil Neal character like in the Graham Taylor documentary. Yes boss. Maybe he doesn't trust film-makers (I know I wouldn't), or maybe he's just the sort of person that ticks 'no publicity' on his pools coupon. I'm sure you can think of a few more if you try.

This!

It's laughable that people think Neville is more qualified just because they see him on TV every week. Giggs has done his licenses and worked under one of the greatest managers of all time, just like Neville, and has also worked as assistant to one of the most experienced managers around for the last 18 months.

I know this isn't really a match thread or anything but the way Jenas says Salford is painful.
