I think the different shades of black might just be an Adidas thing, maybe different materials for shirt & shorts.

I've got a few bits of Adidas running gear, including 'matching' black top & shorts and it's clear they're different shades too. The top is dark and more shiny whilst the shorts are matte and a bit lighter.

Still, I love those shorts.

Shirt and shorts different shades of black?

Looks the same to me, but then the trim still looks red to me also so maybe they are.

Are people genuinely liking the shorts? As much as I like Adidas I don't think Nike ever issued an aberration like that.

Looking for the answers...
saw it in person today. it's not actually available to but until tomorrow but I got an assistant in a store to show me the shirt and shorts.

definitely orange not red detail, in fact it's nothing close to red.

the 90s throwback detail is noticeable on the shirt when you're close but clearly more subtle than the shorts.

the contrast from black to almost light grey/white on the shorts is huge. some people will dig it (I think the shorts are ace) whilst others will be repulsed.

I bought a long sleeve home and want the white as it's very similar to my first ever united shirt from late 80s. but having seen it, I now want the third also.

I buy a shirt every season but this is the first time I've wanted more than one, let alone all 3 so Adidas must have done something right.

I got the black jacket at adidas. No sponsor or writing on the back. I does have the wee devil on the bottom hem on the back. Tidy.

Looks more like a Dundee United away kit than an Manchester one, if you ask me. Pretty weird, but the Chevrolet logo is still definitely the worst thing about it.

The grey of the shorts makes total sense in the graduated shading.

Did you get it in the Adidas store in Manchester? I have had a look in there a few times and they only have the ugly blue ones for some reason.

Saw the black shirt in JD this morning picking up some new trainers, really not sure what I think of it.

Still think the stripes look kinda orangey.

Yeah, and everything else is orangey but the Chevy logo. Beats me.

Was sceptical about the third kit, but after seeing it officially released (aka, not a dodgy photo from some Thai store), I actually really like it. Looks like I'm getting all three shirts this year...

Was passing by Old Trafford this morning and thought I'd pop in and have a look... ended up buying both the shirt (Bastian fecking Schweinsteiger on the back) and shorts!! Really like the kit and actually think the bright colour of the stripes looks good and dare I say, probably better than they would in red.

Just to clarify... I will not be wearing the shorts and shirt at the same time!

I really like the third kit. I haven't even got the first kit yet, but I'll probably get the home and third kit.

Mate, they sell kits with the player names on it but without the PL badges? How much did that set you off?

The shorts have the same design of that old blue top years ago.

They are horrible and ruin what looks a nice top

I was just browsing the BBC website and I came across this video...

Now I'm pretty sure the kid at the start of the video is wearing a grey/blue adidas United kit. Looks pretty good as well. Is this actually real to purchase or just a good fake?

I actually think if they did the G&G it would end up going down as one of our most popular jerseys ever, Similar to when Barca did the Catalan flag kit. Different situation obviously but both have a cult following which would result in a lot of buys.

Yep. A lot of people would buy it, but sadly it will never be made.
