I really can't believe just how DELUDED this man is. So that performance against Chelsea has confirmed to him that he's still doing a good job even though we're now 5 points off 4th spot. WE CURRENTLY HAVE THE WORST FORM IN THE LEAGUE!! Yes even worse than Aston Villa and Sunderland.

For me he is worse than Moyes! No question. Sure he got us to top 4 last season but he's pissed all over that now. So that was for nothing!

I can't believe that we'e going to be stuck with him now when there are better candidates potentially available. I could understand it if he was younger and in it for the long term but he plans to retire anyway at the end of next season so how can he realistically implement his vision and philosophy at the club.

I just wish he would go. I'm beginning to despise him more than I did Moyes.....no wait, I really do despise him more than I did Moyes!

LvG still being manager actually rapes part of my soul.

The club lacks ambition
This hurt the most. We, the fans, think of Manchester as ATM sleeping giat who will come back as one of the best clubs in Europe. Sadly our board think it is good enough that we are club fighting for top 4 and milking as much money from it as possible.
They don't look at Matchester United as a club but as a bussiness.

Some good posts from LoneyFire and Amol. But also quite sad to read how the club has and continues to fall behind City.

To stop the decline something far more than the manager needs to change by the sounds. Otherwise just add us to the list of former dominant forces. Leeds, Liverpool, Utd.

Cheers mate. Unfortunately, the decline is very real and the manager is just one part of it.....not the sole reason. That said, I do believe he should be dismissed.

He's not going anywhere. If we were even thinking about it the past 2 weeks would have been the time to do it. I doubt even going out of the Cup to Sheffield United would change anything. Maybe getting hammered by City or Liverpool.

Are people who are saying LvG should be thrown out immediately, thinking about the replacement?
I mean is the sentiment that anyone but LvG would be fine? Or any specific names in mind?

Pep is not available now. So if we are still in the game for him, then wouldn't it make sense not to fire LvG immediately rather than give it to Giggs who has no managerial experience?

Or is Mou the only one all want?

The fact that you put all our woes down to our managers precisely makes my point for me. The club has to bear the brunt of Wayne Rooney's obese and unjustified wages, the club has to pay Nani for a year while he plays for another club, the club has to deal with the decision to allow an existing manager in his 70s to pick his own inept successor, the club has to deal with a situation where we've got too small a squad. Hence, the club should have a structure that can deliberate and if necessary, veto daft decisions made by managers. Leaving it all to the manager and saying "HE's the king/idiot" is all well and good when you have a genius like SAF in charge who is the boss in every sense. Less so when you're likely to constantly be hiring new managers every 2-4 years. Hence, the need for the club to have it's own decision-making structure in addition to the one provided by the managerial staff.

And no, it's not that I'm not counting SAF and SBC, I'm calling our only two men being two extremely old chaps, very odd. Get the bright minds of our recent ex-players on board. Ajax have, for example, hired Van Der Sar, as their marketing director, presumably because he knows Ajax through and through, is I imagine in their opinion intelligent, and has played for the best marketed football club on the planet.

As for the accountants and commercial men, I know their worth. I'm in the former field myself. But there should be a healthy mix between footballing and non-footballing people.
Top post.

Let's just put this Pep stuff to bed.

The club has fallen behind City at every youth level age group from U10s onwards. City have invested in their structure heavily in the last 4 years - Utd have not and have not had an Academy Director in place since April. City have brought in Sporting Directors who have experience at the highest level....those Sporting Directors are known to have a very close relationship with Guardiola. Utd have no Sporting Director and a complete lack of direction on a footballing level.

The idea that Woodward & Co. will all of a sudden have shown a proactive approach is ridiculous (unless it involves the words Thailand and Official Noodle Partner). The signs are there for everyone to see - City are miles in front and the appointment of Guardiola is just another step in a direction they have been working towards for years.

PS. If Woodward had been involved in trying to get Guardiola, the giddy little cnut wouldn't have been able to keep his mouth shut.
Bingo.

This is the problem - there is no game. Guardiola is going to City - its abundantly obvious. Mourinho is the only logical appointment to make.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
He's not going anywhere now, it's time to accept that. The club obviously thinks yesterday was a corner turned, for some inexplicable reason. The problem is, if we go through another similar shit patch, the club will look to yesterday's game as an example of how he can turn it around. Even though it was 0-0 against a 16th placed team.

Whoever guessed this the other day was right. We're sticking with Van Gaal because we have a plan. The plan involves giving Giggs the job at the end of Van Gaals tenure. No matter how shit it gets now, they have this plan and that is what will happen.

That part is important and justifies the alleged position of the club. The only infuriating thing for me is when I see LVG pretend that he doesn't know why he could resign, that's a lack of respect for the history of that club and its fans, he would never say that at Barcelona or Ajax.

Van Gaal after Stoke: I may resign.
Van Gaal after Chelsea: The media may want me to resign, but I won't.

The guy is thick as two short planks. He keeps accusing the media of misquoting him or not understanding what it is he says. It is actually him that is confusing everyone and backtracking all the fecking time.

I would be perfectly with Mourinho. It is not about that LVG is bad coach, it is more about that he lost the players and I think he also lost confidence in his methods. This makes it impossible for him to turn around, similar than with Mourinho at Chelsea. Noone would argue that Hiddink is better coach then Mourinho but sometimes all is needed is a fresh face which give some boost to players with new ideas.

About Pep availability - I doubt he is still available, he is my opinion already decided. Maybe the reason why we still have LVG is because he is decided to join us next season (i doubt but maybe). Even in that case some change will be good for us, not Giggs because if he can't help as the second man he also can't help as the first man, in that case we would have to look who is prepared to take over till the rest of the season. Mourinho is probably not an option in that case.

You could be right of course, but I doubt that will happen. Just my opinion though.

I was certainly one of the few that voiced this opinion last week. Why can't fans see that is the plan? I guess because there is such opposition to Giggs. For what it's worth I think it's very brave and potentially visionary of the club to stick with a plan like this; continuity and stability breeds success. Let's just hope the football on show improves sometime soon.

He's here for the rest of the season or until it's physically impossible for us to get 4th.

I reckon we've got at least the next 2-3 fixtures before anything happens. Either failing to defeat Swansea and Newcastle, or elimination in the FA Cup to Sheffield Utd will be the final nail (for the board).

Mourinho is surely the best option now even though he comes with many potential problems. The man would almost certainly win us a trophy or two.

...Yet it makes you wonder would that not just paint over the cracks in terms of the upper management of the club - in the same way Fergie protected the Glazers for so long by being so bloody good at winning football matches - resulting in no real scrutiny of the board & no real change to the structure of the club.

What annoys me is his arrogance in that everything gets drawn back to him. 'I MAY RESIGN' won't be the club doing the sacking. 'I CHANGED THINGS' in regards to yesterdays match, which discredits the players.

People are just calling for him to be sacked NOW but aren't giving any alternatives. I know some have suggested Mourinho but you would forgive the club for being wary about a manager that had his team down in 17th.

You lot should hang your head in shame. Acting like a bunch of spoilt 10 year olds who was just refused his 20th scoop of ice cream or something.

Well yeah, except when we draw another 0-0 and he's blaming "luck" or "poor finishing".

It's simple: Set the team up so that you're dependant on scoring every chance/defending perfectly/have luck on your side, and you can be sure that you'll drop points.

An attacking approach against what was a poor Chelsea who wasn't even up for it in the first half would've killed them off. That was not a good side we met.

Come off it, people are rightly worried that the clubs doing nothing to address the worst run of form we've been on since the 30s.

That's extremely debatable, and entirely depends on the talents of the people employed; there's no long-term success if employees don't prove themselves good enough in the short-term.

Anyway, the board might be overlooking an important aspect of this process: we're going to lose fans, potential or longstanding, if the football doesn't satisfy. We even see it here on the Caf - increasingly, posters are finding other things to do rather than watch United matches - and this has little to do with our declining form.

He is. We need to accept that and get behind the team. Maybe, just maybe, things will improve.
Problem is, When we are getting behind the team that buffoon makes it look like we are behind him aswell, which sends the wrong message to the board.

That's true but over the 'long term' of LVG's career he has been a proven winner. The club, I think, are looking to the long term rather than for quick fixes. They should be supported in doing that. Now of course I could be proved wrong. He might be sacked this afternoon!
