Because the only senior players who can play as full backs are Darmian and Blind (and McNair but he isnt a RB)and Blind is a CB now, which fullbacks are good enough for us and targettable/achievable?

You're essentially looking for a stop gap or give the opportunity to a young player. Let Jackson play.

I agree with this , Jackson hasnt done too badly there so far... I'd give him a run of games and see how he develops.

Why would a left back want to come to United though when he knows King Shaw is back next season?

what about Blackett? Didnt he come back off loan?

Letting Rafael leave was a mistake.

For me it would be coleman from Everton, best out there.

Matt Targett (Soton)? :nervous:

Might make more sense to use Blind at LB and target a better CB.

Yeah true especially as any young inexperienced full back is essentially going to be the same as CBJ

He would probably be injured right now too. At least Darmianis fit
It might be more to do with the volume of games coming up for CBJ to play. The league/F.A. Cup and the EL will be kicking in. Shaw will take some time to come back. Same with Rojo. It is not just physical fitness but match fitness.

Blind, Carrick, Smalling, Darmian could work tomorrow if Carrick is fine.

Hmm

Rb - Nyom (Watford) looks quite a good player but doubt he's what were looking for long term

Coleman (Everton) class but would be a lot of money and hard to get but he's gettable.

De Marcos (Bilbao) rapid and good

Lb-
Gaya (Valencia) quality player and has allot of pace but is one of their better players and would cost a fair whack.

Bertrand (Southampton) decent player and English

Struggling to think of more

Probably even harder to sign a good enough CB in January than it is to sign a fullback.

Signing Cole would be pointless, we may as well just like CBJ make the position his own for the next couple months if that's on offer. Probably should've been in for Sam Byram. Robertson doesn't sound too bad, I can't really think of anybody else. Rico Henry? Literally anybody else - Cancelo, Ric. Rod, Willems, Fabinho etc... have no chance of being signed with a week left in this window.

I reckon Weir or Love will be called up to cover for now.I doubt there's a good enough fullback available unless we decide to spend big just to get a cover.

If we really need to sign one now,I guess the easy-to-lure options are Robertson or Henry but both aren't even playing in the PL so it's a big risk either way.Don't think any PL club will agree to sell their starting LB this late and signing one abroad will kick start the whole adaptation game all over again.

Evra obviously.

He'll be happy to come back for part time cover and he is being frozen out at Juve

We spend almost every window veering between making noises about being the biggest club in the world along with all of the big players we're going to sign for loads of money and then talking about how difficult it is to buy players and those players have to be very special to improve our (5th place) squad.

Repeat on a loop until your kidneys explode.

Andy Robertson would be ideal. Young, plenty of room to develop and wouldn't mind being a back up to Shaw when he's fit again. Plus, he has the similar pace and drive that Shaw does and that we have lacked majorly since he got hurt.

Mario Fernandes would be a shout for right back.

I was going to say this, but if someone does come in they could see it as an opportunity to make the LB slot their own for the rest of the season, and really make it difficult for Luke to just walk straight in.

Can't see it happened though because Shaw = God.

If that's true then yes all day long. A leader is sorely missing in this side when Bastian isn't playing.

Not true at all. Evra is still considered a regular and is rotating with new signing Alex Sandro. I would not be surprised if Evra started vs Bayern in the CL.

You need a new full-back anyway, not just a stop gap but one who can either be a starting RB or solid back-up to Darmian and Shaw, so i'm not sure if January will be the time to get one. Maybe a loan would be a better option for now like you were going to do with Coentrao.
