I acquired the new WWE game. Was playing career mode (nice GTS/Penalty kick combo as my finisher ) and was wondering why the pace was so slow and I was losing all the time. After winning my first feud (eat that Breeze!) the game became 2x as fast and my character started to become stronger. Odd.
Is it decent? been toying with getting it for a while.

Lemmy has forsaken us....
They used to be some of the most fun games on consoles, shame the way they went with the overcooked and complicated controls. Smackdown 2 had the perfect control method, quick, easy, versatile.

That has been one of the more prevalent fan theories, that the Balor Club/Bullet Club/Bulletproof/SomethingBalor act as Shane's enforcers or something. Not sure how you can execute that at WM with the risk that a lot of people have no idea who those guys are.

Your character picks up after a while. They've defintely worked hard on trying to make it as realistic as possible in most areas. I'm actually a fan of what they've done with the reversal system as it means you can't just spam reverse over and over and actually have to be wise to when you use your reversals. There's much more thought that you have to put into this one compared to back in the days that's for sure.

Sadly 2K disgraced themselves with the online for the game. 2016 and they can't even give you an online mode that properly works. I got the game when it came out and believe me when I say this, it was tough to find a match. Not due to nobody playing, due to their online system being absolutely terrible. THQ had online nailed. You went online, went into one of the menus and bam, there's loads of rooms/matches created and you can join one or simply create your own. Mostly quite simple and really it was rare to have to wait too long or have any issues. It's so easy and so simple to get right yet somehow they've got it terribly wrong. For me online is huge when it comes to gaming. I had a blast on the old THQ ones online, you just can't do that now thanks to 2K not giving us a decent online system. If they had then this years game would have been one of the best in the history of the Smackdown games IMO.

Yeah it's getting better, just played for a bit and managed to pin KO in a triple threat with Balor (KO is still holding the NXT title). Went up a rank straight away, but didn't really get anything else out of it except for some points to spend on my skills. Next match I got beaten by Hideo, I am terrible at timing my kickouts and lose matches on that more than I like. I dish out more damage and they go for an early pin and I screw up. Very frustrating. I do like the game, I'll admit that and the realism is quite good.

Custom mode in general is great because you can basically steal everyones moves for your own dude. I'm like Ryback, I steal other people's moves, am not as good as I think I am and in general a danger to everyone in the ring except for myself. I have not tried online, mostly because my version does not support online play for obvious reasons.

I lost to Hideo to, Was my first defeat. I won the NXT title and then decided to enter the US Title run which then made me auto lose the NXT Title which was annoying. I like the game though, Best one in years, Especially once you master the submission bar. If you are unsure about that just YouTube it like I did.

TBH, for fan reaction, WM or post Raw WM is the best time for them to debut given the hardcore fans in attendance and the reaction it will get.

Plus you have loads of people who paid a metric fecktonne to be there that weekend, and will loose their shit over basically anything, just for the craic.

Yeah it's quite fun. My win/loss record is pretty shitty, but it's getting better. Found out you can switch off the experience and get enough to level to 89 or something so you're just below the title holders and stuff, which I used (I'm way to casual in gaming to really go all the way). Got my sights on #1 contender Zayn now, beat him and I should get a title shot soon.

Would make the most sense. I suspect at least one group/person debuts there.

Finally catching up with the two previous episodes of NXT.

Joe/Zayn episode was great. They paced the match seriously well with Joe looking like an animal and Zayn playing the underdog brilliantly as always. Just a ridiculously good match that I think has actually flown under some peoples radars as to how good the performance from both men actually was.

Last weeks episode was good enough in continuing to build certain people and stories:

Nakamura! Didn't hear a word he said outside of Dallas but man this should be a fun run.
Asuka destroying Eva Marie never get's old.
Graves is probably the best commentator in wrestling right now. So damn good for the opening of that women's tag match.
Good main event tag match. As early as it is in the year I think there's every chance Dash and Dawson/Gable and Jordan will be the best tag match the company puts on this year.

I said it a month or so back when we found out the Dallas card, I think we'll be ending the year discussing this show as the best WWE show of the year.

Under two weeks, to get you in the mood:

Philly not being very kind to Roman.
Same crowd that cheered his title win and chanting "thank you Roman"

WWE have butchered Reigns as a face.
Though I do prefer badass Reigns over the Cena-lite version theyve tried to go with.

Fantastic match on Raw between AJ/KO (annoyed by there being two adverts during it though bleh).

Not a big watcher but have been watching some matches from the last few years recently as procrastination. When he was in his group and they turned face (think they attacked Kane), he seemed outrageously popular. How much longer did that last for? When did he start becoming hated? I don't know how they managed to mess that up.

The card for WM is sooo underwhelming.

New day vs LON
Ryback Vs Kalisto.
4 on 4 Divas match
Usos vs Dudleys
AJ vs Jericho 4??

And then the matches that dont make sense like
Taker vs Shane (at least it will be a spectacle)
Reigns (face whos treated like a heel) vs HHH (heel whos been booked as a face)

TBH, Triple Threat womens match and Ambrose/Brock are the only ones im looking forward to.
Maybe IC title depending on who faces Owens.

They made a huge mistake by bringing back Daniel Bryan for the Rumble (late 2014) who entered the Rumble. And then got eliminated within like 2 minutes. Meanwhile everybody knew Reigns was getting a push, despite only having had one singles PPV match (against Orton). It seemed so soon cos he had the look Vince liked. Crowds got all over him for this.

he worked really hard during 2015 tbh but they made him too much like Cena-lite (his promos in late 2014 i believe were just horrible). He actually called Seth Rollins a snivelling sufferin suckotash.

They turned him from badass Shield guy into Cena v2.

WWE dont even care anymore.

Except for KO/AJ and that Dean segment, this has been utter trash. This is Road To WM season. I think that last segment just told me its time to sleep and I can ffwd through most of this tomorrow.

We get Owens and Zayn shoved in a multi man match, with four other people who've been no where near this story.... That'll probably end in 10 minutes. Then a singles match between Ryback and Sin Cara.

fecking Urgh.

Nothing for Bray or the Wyatt family either, so obvious interference angle in multiple matches incoming.

The problem with Owens vs Zayn is that it would have to be like the Takeover matches with Kev obliterating him, which you can't do straight off the bat without damaging Sami to a huge level.

The Wyatt Family has been thrown into disrepute again, Harper appears to have fecked his hamstring.

My god what a terrible Raw that was. I recommend you listen to this morning's Wrestling Inc podcast where Vince Russo tears Raw \ WWE to shreds, He is pretty much right in everything he says though.

I thought debuting him few weeks before WM was an odd move (i know he was in the Rumble) but if you debut Zayn the night after, going after Owens. They can have a year's build without them directly facing each other for next year.

Then again i think they also need to build Owens as someone who just demolishes the mid card. Apron power bombs and everything.

Then you've got a year of Zayn trying to stop him, and failing before finally getting his solo win at WM next year.

For a Wrestlemania that was supposed to pull in a 100k, the buildup has been woeful.

None of the matches scream unmissable spectacle.

Although I can see this having many good matches so theres that.
Although they've not sold out, it's the best selling WM so far.

The only good thing Roman did beside looking tough was his "Now I'm the Authority" line.

JBL getting a great post-Derby United line in was class. Great match between KO and AJ too. KO turned face! Look at him giving underused talent a chance to shine at WM. We do not deserve his greatness  The ladder match is on then. Still would have prefered the US Title to be a ladder match though, such an odd choice.

Legends passing on various objects of destruction to Dean for his match at WM, I like it. Wonder if his walkout past Vince was planned, or if it was a time-limit thing?

Good stuff in showing Shane train with actual MMA trainers, gives the match some legitimacy I feel. So does this mean that Taker wins? Or does he retire?

So if Undertaker loses, it's his last Wrestlemania.
But if Shane wins, Vince loses control.

So how does Vince plan on enforcing that?

If you take out Taker/Shane, Triple Threat Divas title match and Brock/Dean this really does scream out average non-big four PPV. And were less than 2 weeks away. Nuts.

Sami really does need to chase so I'm happy they're doing it this way. Sami could even just stop Kev or win while Kev has been taken out, but Sami beating Kev one on one would waste what could be absolutely incredible with their abilities.

On a sidenote, Do you any of you guys subscribe to http://www.f4wonline.com/? If so is it worth it.
I used to but haven't particularly missed it since I let my sub expire a few months ago. I will say that their Wrestlemania coverage tends to be very very good with the number of shows folk involved go to that weekend, and there are a lot of podcasts they put out.

If you're wondering whether to sub properly or not I'd say getting a one month sub around now as a taster as you'd get the direct Mania week stuff and then more general weeks in the aftermath.

Good question. None of it has been explained well at all

I think the idea is that Vince would just lose control of Raw, not the WWE altogether. His "you wont see me again" line was probably just in reference to the fact he wouldn't appear on a Shane ruled Raw. But would still have the ability to fire/retire the Undertaker

Cheers for the response, I think i'll take a month's sub out now then with Mania coming up and see how I get on.
