So how many of you have or will be putting money on us to win the league?

I think we're good value.

Serious challengers will be City and Chelsea I think.
Pep may try to change City too much too quick for me.
Chelsea and Conte are an unknown, but they have a decent squad still.
Arsenal haven't yet got that striker they desperately need. Might be worth a punt on them missing out on top 4.
Spurs haven't improved their squad yet, and they're in the Champions league.
Leicester will struggle to emulate last season, especially being in Europe as well.
Liverpool under Klopp are a dark horse. Think they could challenge for the title.

At the end of last season I had a feeling it would be a City v Liverpool title race with us third... We've done some very good business though and Pogba really would be a game changer

I still think Liverpool will be a dark horse but City need to make some signings as Pep can only do so much with that squad

7/1 to remain unbeaten at home in the PL next season looks a good bet.

We only lost 2 games under LVG at home last season.

It's almost impossible to predict anything in this league right now. For all we know Leicester could mount another serious challenge. I've no idea.

I don't bet. But if I did, I'd place a bet as soon as we sign Pogba (if we did, of course). I think that, with the current squad, plus new signings and Pogba, we'd challenge for the title along with (I reckon) City and Chelsea.

If we don't sign Pogba, and sick with what we now have, I'd be expecting more of a battle for top four. I reckon we'd finish 3rd or 4th.

Goes for us too surely? Maybe not to the same extreme, but Mourinho won't want us to play anything like we did under LvG.

I almost want them to do well (United 1st, Leicester 2nd obviously). They're being written off (myself included), probably rightly so, but it would be insane if they had a very similar season.

That only works for possession football.

Me neither actually. But I told folks in work that I really felt we'd win the league this year, and they told me to put my money where my mouth was, so I'm thinking about it.

Last season I predicted Arsenal - wrong.
Season before that I predicted Chelsea - right.
Season before that I predicted Chelsea - wrong.
Season before that I predicted City - wrong.

Nope, odds aren't long enough. League is too madcap these days and it would be a pretty big and quick step up from the last three seasons to pull it off. Do think we will do well but will leave it at that.

If Liverpool were above 10/1, then I may have put a punt on them. Klopp could do some damage next year.

Chelsea at 5/1 doesn't look bad at all. Not that I expect them to win it however.

OLE OLE OLE I LOVE YOU
I think we have more 2 positions which needs to be strengthened, CB and CM. We will win the league if we could sign a very good CB (Bonucci, Varane, Maquinhos,....) and a very good CM (Pogba, Veratti, Kroos,...).

I don't bet. But I like our odds and it's looking better every day. I think you can take the top 6 listed and and draw it out of a hat. With us and City having best chance. I'm thinking Leicester will be falling back to mid table at best. They had everything go their way and won a lot of 1-0 games last season, and they won't be sneaking up on anybody anymore. We shall see, I can't wait to get started.

I don't bet, but I would take my chances on Mourinho getting this squad challenging and winning the title. Man City and Chelsea will have managers who are managing in the premier league for the first time and will need a season or two. Arsenal will be Arsenal and I don't see Liverpool or Spurs really being threatening. Lecicester will not repeat, even if they keep all their players.

I'd go along with that.

Not 4th.
We did not bring in arguably the best EPL manager, to finish 4th. That'll be a disaster for Jose.

I am sick and tired of fans/managers/all talking about the imaginary 4th place trophy.
The last time we had an A-Lister (3 years ago), we won the league by a large margin. We finally have Fergie's (equivalent) replacement, so whatever happens, 3rd place should be the absolute bare minimum.
In fact, 3rd place would be disappointing.

Jose made it very clear (and I agree) that the last 3 years of embarrassment, disappointment, self pity, boredom, fear and low expectations/standards, need to be forgotten.
Jose is now here and he'll take us back to where MUFC belong - competing for the league. ;)

I'll be happy with us challenging first. I still think we're two positions short (Cm and cb). It's impossible to predict what will happen next season but I'm very confident we will a) score more goals b) know our best 11 c) have less injuries and d) have a defined playing style.

West Ham not even in there?? They seem to mean business. I would put money on them as an outside bet.

Now, that's what I call confidence.
You've got bigger balls than me, that's for sure. :D
It was a much better bet when I tried to place it at 6/1. Unfortunately I was abroad and it wouldn't let me bet so if we win my holiday cost me £500 :(

He can only do so much with the players available though. I do think we'd be more likely to finish 3rd or even 2nd than 4th, but you have to remember that it's a competitive top 5 or 6 now. There are good and great managers in most of the top teams too, including Pep, Wenger, Conte, Klopp etc.

Our team looks improved, but so does City, and they'll keep spending. So will Chelsea and everyone else. If we were to stick with what we have now, I think we'd have a battle on our hands for top 4.
