Great second half, seemed to be a good workout for all the players and no injuries touch wood. I thought Pereira, Blind and Mata all played really well, Pereira looks like he could be giving Mourinho a lot to think about with that performance.
Everyone had a good match really though especially in the second half, although I was less than impressed with Herrera and Wilson. It was great to see a (sort of) fellow Rochdalian make his debut and he played well too! If he bulks up Tuanzebe could be a great squad option.
All in all it was a good match to watch, next up Dortmund is it?

A lot better second half. Guess it was made easier by the goal we got early on. That said, I felt we used the wings a lot better second half, which is important against teams who are very compact.

Think the introduction of Valencia made a massive difference. He's forever giving us that width down the right. He and Young/Januzaj, or even Mata, who had popped up on the right, at times, linked up well, and most of our good play come from that side.

Valencia hasn't adapted very well though. He still looks like a winger 'doing a job'.
Yeah, maybe. I didn't rate him that much as a winger to be honest - he was a bit one dimensional - all about the pace.

I like Bailly, much more comfortable with the ball at his feet than was suggested about him. Better than both Mike and blondie jones for that.
Most central defenders are better on the ball than Smalling and Jones, they are both massively overated on here and it is a wonder they have actually been with United for almost 6 years. Bailly is finally a breath of fresh air.

Hope we could sell Jones this summer, shown today again why he is absolutley not United quality. He is just so awkward whenever he is on the ball, can't even play an easy pass when nobody is putting pressure on him. He might actually be the worst footballer in the entire team atm.

A solid performance to start Jose's reign. You can see what his team will bring: solidity at the back, no stupid fouls, a team cohesion when attacking and no silly subs for the sake of it.

I'm really excited to see what this team will be like with our strongest XI playing. Ibra, Martial, Rashford, Smalling... Maybe even Pogba.

Looks like he has given the players their confidence back and wants them to get forward which is all good.

Actually today Jones had a good game. Not sure how you came to the conclusion he's the worst footballer or whatever.

Bailly looked really good, think he will be our main man at the back this season.

Mkhitaryan looks like he has the attributes to be the architect of our attack, if he could play from the right and link up with one of Pogba or James I think that will transform our attack and bring it to a whole other level.

Very pleased to Shaw back in the team, played well, together with CBJ and Blind, our leftback looks sorted

Really liked Pereira, I think he can do a job for us in MF and not only as a 10.

Was also Impressed by Varela, Tuanzebe and Blackett, I hope they will get a chance in the first team.

The ones that diappointed were Memphis, Januzaj, Young, Jones and Wilson, hope we can find a way to get them out of the team, either selling them or loaning them out.

What we need is Pogba or James for the 10 and a player with good energy for the box to box role, Matuidi looks like a good fit for that. If we get that and the likes of Ibra, Martial, Rashford, Smalling , DDG join up we look sorted for the season.

Memphis, Young and Wilson the real stinkers from today. Not doing themselves any favours.

Micky and Bailly were both great. Blind, Fosu and Herrera all had good games. Peirera and Tuanzebe as well.

Varela did well but he's definitely heading out, at least on loan.

Problem with Varela is he is getting too old for a loan. He will be better finding a club and playing all the time than getting shunted from one club to another.

Mhkitaryan and Bailly was more then ok, both nailed on to be starters.

Mata, Perriera, Shaw, Herrera, Valencia, TFM, Carrick, Blind, Young and Lingard was as expected. Good to see.

Memphis didn't impress. Wilson isn't United material. Jones looked rusty but with a few more games he will be ok.

Tuanzebe impressed me. Only 18 years old and so calm.

All in all we played well defensively. Typical Mourinho style, it will be difficult to brake us down. It's obvious we need more quality in the middle. I'm positive. Good first game. Nothing spectacular but we looked solid.

Actually today Jones had a good game. Not sure how you came to the conclusion he's the worst footballer or whatever.
Misplacing several easy passes, he is ok at the defensive part of the game, but on that part nobody was tested today, but on the ball, he is one of the worlds most frustrating players to watch. He didn't do much wrong today but it is on the little things, struggling to control a ball, overhitting a pass, that sort of stuff, which you just know if we play agaianst an actual good team that puts pressure on our defence, that is the sort of thing that will lead to giving stupid chances away, let alone that he could actually be usefull in the build up game.

I don't rate Jones at all, quite likley he is one of the worst players we have when on the ball, feels like he hasn't progressed at all in the 6 years here at United, he is rash and uncontrolled when he is put under pressure and he has got serious problems with staying fit. United would do very well to sell him this summer.
