Complete and utter shambles. We are just devoid of any sort of modern and attacking football without hoofing it. I feel like we could field Messi, Bale and Griezmann together and still create feck all. We just dont have any system or a style, not even a plan or a plan that the players could put out on the field.

Next game will be interesting.

My God, 9% gave MotM to Schneiderlin so far. Can we just ban all of them?

New season, same shite. Team completely bereft of ideas on how to break the opposition. Other than hoofing the ball, and hoping Zlatan or some other tall player will nick a goal, we have no plan whatsoever. Rojo, Schneiderlin, and Smalling are nowhere near the standard of being a United player. I may be dramatizing, because we lost two games on the trot, but I am really worried that there is no genuine direction on how to play football. When we pressed $hity, we resorted to hoofing the ball, and they dealt with it easily. Same thing today. I know that when there are minutes left on the clock, you have to move the ball quickly in to the opposition box, and crossing it is the quickest option but, good Lord, we do it almost everytime.

I can't believe no one cares about his match. We should have absolutely trashed them ffs.

With the sheer amount of changes and the number of them that haven't kicked a ball yet and those that have only a few minutes this is exactly the game I was expecting away in Europe against an in form side.

I thought a 0-1 win to us would be the likely score. There's nothing you can do with an outrageous offside goal and persistent fouling that does not get punished.

Pogba looked good in the last ten minutes. Played Rojo in to the right fullback's space, made a run into that space himself and pushed beyond his man to allow Zlatan to get a free header to knock the ball down to him. Don't want to look for positives though, that's been happening for that last two (at least) seasons.

Shaken, and very stirred......
I'll be interested to hear what Jose says about this. He was pretty negative about this competition before..not really wanting it....saying or intimating that the players didn't really either? That it could undermine a title challenge etc etc....I don't know..but that is not really inspiring things to say. Having read that I wasn't totally surprised at the performance today.

I think Jose was a bit naive here. Everybody and their mother knew Feyenoord was gonna sit back and look to counter us. Hence, our front players need all the support they can get and with somebody like Rojo at full back, that simply isn't the case. Darmian was a little more active, but is not near the threat that Valencia is. Martial and Rashford constantly faced multiple defenders and couldn't excel at the things they're usually so good at.
The combo of Smalling and Bailly also doesn't work against teams that sit back. We need at least one defender that can be creative with the ball to add more support to our front line, so Blind would've been a better choice.
We were simply outnumbered in their half and there's not much individual players can do. You saw Martial, Rashford, Pogba, even Mata and Herrera try and take on multiple players, but it was always one too many.

Jose's substitutions only show that my theory about his line of thinking is correct. Instead of realizing that the front line lacked support, he thought the front line itself didn't do its job. But even after all those subs, we didn't look more dangerous.

At the end for the day we are a "work in progress", I still think that Pogba doesn't know how to play is position or even know what type of player he wishes to be.

I think we was missing the midfield, Herrea did his best. The rest apart from Smalling (who hasn't played for a while) were crap.

A mixture of volleying it a million miles over, and then managing to smash a simple set piece out of play.
Absolute turd.
Not disagreeing, he was awful. Just my focus was on the players who were there from the start being gash.

Probably have to remember our "A" team, will have Shaw, Valencia, and eventually Martial and Miki in good form.
Those 4 should make a huge difference.

Editing my own posts.
We still don't create nearly enough. And it's not because we still have too many average players, either. We've got more than enough that should be. It's a cohesion/confidence/whatever problem.

Didn't think they were particularly bad, just an average game of few chances.
To lose that, when they created jack all is a shocker.

Schneiderlin though cost us the game. Letting Vilhenna free like that was criminal
Much larger fault was on Smalling, who randomly ran to the half way line, missed his challenge, forcing Bailley to leave the middle, opening the space.

Smalling is never going to be a great defender. I'll say it. Lacks any modicum of positional intelligence.

France - can't win anything with Swedish turnips
Under no danger apart from the offside goal. Fouled so many times on the occasions we did venture forward.
That said, we should have pressed much higher up the pitch, felt sorry for Rashford urging his team mates to get higher up the pitch to support him.

Young and Memphis did little when they came on and the fullbacks especially Darmian offered little going forward.
Disappointing performance and hope we start believing in ourselves more when going forward and move the ball quicker.
Herrera and Schneiderlin played quite well and Bailly and Smalling did OK.

Under soil heating.
Nah, he's the best centre back in the league according to a lot of objective football experts. He has got a rating of 84 in FIFA. He has been amazing for us in the past two seasons. How can you say that he isn't good enough for us, when there are like 20 worse players in our squad?
Couldn't care less what so called experts or FIFA say

Completely devoid of intensity, creativity and ideas. The gameplan was so flawed, you'd think the weekend never happened.

Do we really scout players before throwing away millions?
Memphis cost us 30 million, so much mediocrity all over the pitch

This is as much on Mourinho as on the players. These tactics or lack thereof are horrendous.
We have arguably the second best squad in the league. It most certainly is on Mourinho. I was confused when the players were at blame against City - both these games have been tactical blunders and an incredible inability to utilize the players at his disposal.

I hope this was the last time I had to see Mata playing as a right winger. I don't think I have seen anything more pointless than him trying to play on the wing.
Mata to me can only play a No. 10. If you play 4-3-3 you have to have pace on both sides.

Still not getting enough protection from the ref. LVG had to suffer it and we racked up the injuries.

I don't understand how there weren't more yellows. Ref just allows them to cut us down and blows for 1 in 5 fouls.

Not trying to make excuses but I'm sick of seeing the these matches of attrition.

I remember even back when RVP got the knee in the back of his leg and he was out for a while and never looked the same. Horrible cynical foul and nothing was done. Luke shaw was pole axed and feck all was given at PSV.

I wanted us to win this very much after Saturday. Yet I'm not gutted because this was really a draw match with them just parking the bus and being gifted a goal by poor officiating.
Exactly. Win v Watford, and no one will give this a seconds thought.

Thank goodness Holland is such a quick flight back. Get this sh!Tt out of their system, back home tonight, get ready for Sunday.

So you'd play Blind instead of?
Blind - Bailly partnership has worked pretty well, wouldn't tinker that. Smalling has been very good last season but he's the one who may have to wait on an proper opportunity. Its always nice to have good options like the 3 of them vying for the 2 spots.
