The 4-0 loss I can deal with. What I cant is how little the players care about it. Zlatan was smiling and swapping shirts, shaking hands blah blah as if he just won a bloody title. I thought he was a winner!

De Gea had a poor game, got beat 4 times, and went hugging around. I don't know why this is pissing me off so much, but I guess it shows how far we have fallen from SAF's time. I remember the 4-1 loss to Middlesbrough under him and none of the players behaved as disconnected from reality as our players today!

Not asking for much then.
I think the 3 points against the likes of hull and bournemouth away are just as important as getting points from the big fixtures.

In fact, its dropped points against stoke at home which really hurt our title chances. We would have been 4 points off the top even after todays drubbing.

Just think about that. Thats without knowing our best team yet.

People who blame Mourinho, I can guarantee you if we had Conte today and they had Mourinho we would've still lost. You can bet your house on that. It's time we stop blaming the manager and take a hard look at some of the players wearing our club's jersey.
I wonder is there any manager who could fix this mess

I think the silver lining is shattering the illusion that we're in the title race this season and starkly laying bare the problems at our club. This is going to take some time and effort to sort so anyone; including players, coaches, staff and even fans, who haven't got the guts for a long and painful rebuilding process should be shown the door.
Dont think most of even the most optimistic posters on here ever thought we would go from being outside top 4 to winning the title. Only the "einsteins" in the media were predicting so.

Nonetheless, despite this drubbing we are 6 off the top with alot of difficult fixtures out the way.

As I said in earlier posts, its almost more important not to drop points (especially at home) against some of these so called "easier" teams. Hopefully our confidence isnt too badly dented today and we can go on a run of wins in the league, starting with burnley at home next week.

Yet they showed I think Pedro go over to Mata and Mata looked like someone had run over his dog. Let's see who really cared about this result and who just thinks it was just another day at the office.
I noticed that too. :(

And Mata was one of our better players when he came on. He deserves a bigger role in this team ahead of the likes of Fellaini and Pogba, who were none-existent.

We really are a nothing team at the moment. I think it's time to accept the United of old is gone forever, sure we'all have our odd magical season but complete dominance..no chance.

Of course it's too early to pass judgment but if Jose can't fix this in the time he's here then good God we're in trouble

What i was really pissed off with and i would say mourinho is the same is that after thirty seconds the plan has gone out the window because of one player making a mistake.

The minute they scored that goal, it was a different game.

Everyone was at it to be honest. Ibra swapped shirts with Batshuayi, Martial walked off the pitch with his arm around Kante, DDG laughing and joking with [Irrelevant point]...

There's sportsmanship and then there's that. Very disappointing to see.
Players on different teams seem somehow more united these days. They know it's just a game, a game that is making them super wealthy. It's them against the world, against the fickle fans who pay their insane wages. Their 'feck you money'.

Precisely. Its our third manager now.

The only constant has been the players. Its beyond common sense.

Jose Mourinho will have the balls to get rid of the underperformers though. If he can do it to Rooney, nobody is untouchable anymore.

Our what sorry mate?
How can you possible even use the t word?

We have no style of play yet at all, and have tonnes of glaring worries all over the pitch.

Bailly has a knee ligament injury. Not good.
Oh feck.

Guess it's Valencia, Smalling, Blind and Shaw...

We need a no nonsense kick ass defender.

Turned off at three down, I no longer feel obliged to watch United and it's just no longer enjoyable. I may be a fair weather fan but who wants to sit through that shite on a Sunday?

Being optimistic, its 9 matches into the season. Still very early mate.

6 points off the top despite a so called disaster of a start.

We have time to figure it out and get better. Hopefully Bailly isnt out too long and our confidence can be regained.

Its also positive that we are looking very formidable at OT these days. As I said, earlier in the season we took max points at difficult away venues against teams that have take points off other top four/title contenders.

If we can continue that im sure we will be there or thereabouts. Not saying we can win the title, but we can only improve upon this shitty performance.

Agreed, the performance and result today were dire but throwing two points away after controlling the Stoke game was arguably more galling.

Jose needs to use this performance as a chance to clear the decks and begin to instil a new attitude at the club. He needs to make it clear that any player who cannot handle adversity is going out.

Mata should start every game. Technically he's our best player and he actually looks like he cares unlike the majority of others. Mourinho looks shot.

Yes based on todays match.

But I think we will rebound and have been showing good form at home. Today was an aberration via a catalog of mistakes.

Having calmed down, I think we will improve and get better. Especially once Jose finally gives up on using Fellaini after today!

Still early in the season and lets not give up on Jose just yet. Im sure he will mold us into a much better side the next few months.

Actually he looked fine in the post match interview. Very calm and calculated. No throwing players under the bus. No criticising the ref.

Was half expecting it to be very emotional considering he is returning to his old stomping ground etc.

Hopefully the team will give him a reaction against citeh and burnley.

Bailly was walking (albeit limping) after the game so hopefully not too bad. As bad as Blind was today Smalling cost us all 4 goals. Don't know if he's rusty but there is no excuse for being as bad as he was.

He responded well the last time he put in such a shit performance against citeh. Hopefully its just a bad day for him. Hasnt done much wrong this season till today.

De Gea is regularly making mistakes, Smalling resembles a pub player, zero balance in midfield and a crippling lack of quality in the front positions.

We are back to the position where we look like conceding every time we are attacked, while our attacking play doesn't have any pattern whatsoever.

Pound for pound, we are one of the worst sides to watch in the league, and unquestionably the biggest under performer.

Mourinho needs time, of course, but he also needs to start making some correct decisions.

We have Schneiderlin, Carrick and Schweinsteiger and yet he prefers to use Fellaini. Also we've got another promising talent in Martial but chose an average at best Lingard instead. Not to mention Mkhitaryan.

Even when we were winning, people were still confused as to why he used fellaini.

Hopefully after today this will never happen again. I refuse to believe that Carrick or Schneiderlin would put in worse performances. No way.

Yes, and if any of the team had done that is Fergusons time after a 4-0 thrashing then I would suspect that dressing room would have been fecking wind tunnel! That's why it didn't happen....

Not in a mood for a sane analysis of the game. Only a rant of expletives fits the situation.

What I said in the match thread....

They played football that works for scoring multiple goals. We play football that maybe 'works' for grabbing a goal. We were never getting back into this at 2-0 down. That our defending is so incredibly poor only made that deficit even worse.

Current fears are about our current manager. Started when we got rid of LVG.
Thanks. What made you confident (or not fearful) about Moyes and LvG? I'd like to understand what the difference in terms of their effect on the club is.

The mentality of the players is very poor, that's my major takeaway. Considering that we conceded so early in the game from basic player errors, I can't blame Mourinho too much. The quality of the team isn't the major problem, the talent is there, and like every other team in the PL, we do have some average ones. It's the attitude & mentality that is piss poor. Just like against City, we were second to every ball, players were strolling around and at the end of the game, they were hugging & smiling with the opposition players (bad optics). It's fine to lose, even lose by a wide margin (actually it's not but you get the point) but what I don't understand is losing without even putting up a decent fight. I can't say what the other problems are, I'm tired of it from the past 3 yrs. We now have to stick with Mourinho, let him stop the rot, but he has to help himself, first by putting a proper plan in place & picking the best players suited for it, dropping Rooney was good, but Fellaini should follow, our best team won't be with him in it, so, why persist? And then there's Zlatan, and lastly you don't sign a player for 89m pounds & have no clue how to get the best out of him, why was Pogba playing #10 against Liverpool & today as well? Mourinho has to decide what he wants with this team & how he wants them to play & then build the team based on that absolute believe. The team needs a lot of coaching work, dashing off to sign more players might help, but ultimately, we need these individuals to be coached into a unit, that is the real challenge.
