Funny that just a few weeks ago people were talking about the possibility of him getting sacked. :D
Football fans can be very fickle indeed... just couple weeks ago when city lost to us in the league cup and at the back of a winless run in the league guardiola couldn't adapt to the pressure of the PL, after they won against barca we were fawning all over them and someone even made a fecking thread congratulating them on that one group stage win. On the contrary when we started the season brightly we were going to curb stomp everyone in the league and now its all doom and gloom after a bad run.

For what its worth I hope chelsea wins the league ahead of city and pool (if we dont win it), though I suppose thats no surprise coming from a utd fan.

I'd feel the same if it was you guy and those two. I'd rather chew glass than watch Liverpool win the league.

Never in a million years would I have predicted Victor Moses would be one of our 3 best players this season.

I can't believe how many assists Matic has already. I think he has 6 now, just 1 behind the leader De Bruyne.

Just madness. Knew he could be electric going forward but to cover as much ground as he does on both ends of the pitch and still having the energy to burst forward and be a goal threat is amazing.

I admittedly cringed and held my breath in the last 2 matches when Ivanovic came in for him. Don't understand that.

Pleased they may stop Liverpool or city winning it but ultimately its just another team better than us that will prevent a top 4 finish and push us further behind the top teams.

I'm nit-picking really but I'd prefer if Conte took a risk and used Aina as Moses' back-up. He has the athleticism and pace to do well in that position (question marks of course about his tactical nous).

Exactly. Ivanovic is just done. At least as a fullback. Think he could do a job covering Cahill as a CB but he's shot as a RB. See him get skinned by N'Koudo just after he came on? Yikes. Maybe if there are 2 minutes left and he comes on but not 10+ like there were.

The system is utterly reliant on Moses because he's usually the free man when everyone else is tightly marked. And teams aren't able to handle his directness especially since he can go inside or outside.

We need another version of him for LWB.

I reckon Kenedy would be the best fit in our squad (I know he's on loan but he'll probably be back in Jan) for the left side. Can't think of anyone else other than Ake.

I'd love to see Jay Da Silva get a game on the left against someone shite.

I've heard good things about Jay Da Silva, isn't he a midget though? I actually think Kenedy could be excellent in that role wonder if Conte still has him in his plans. Can't buy a game at Watford last I heard.

By the way, do you rate [Irrelevant point]. He's better than having Ivanovic out there obviously but that's not saying much.

I quite like Alonso. Lack of pace is a worry and e does not go forward as much as I'd like (I think this is a tactical decision because he has Cahill behind him whilst Moses has Azpi to cover his ass).

Da Silva is a midget but he is fast, direct and not easily brushed off the ball. You could not have Courtois smacking balls for him to head on though.

Obviously this vid is against lesser oppo but give a general idea of his style of play.

The three at the back has really given them something that no other team in the league has answers to. It also lets players like hazard, pedro perform to their optimum level. Its kante though that makes them tick. He has been a great great signing. Still early days bit it looks like they will finish in the top 3 easily.

Still going strong.

The 3-4-3 has clearly helped immensely but another underrated factor is that they've been able to play the same first choice XI for seven matches in a row. Staying healthy is so massive in the Premier League in terms of getting into a rhythm and going on a run of results. Leicester and Spurs were very healthy compared to other contenders last year and health is likely to be one of the key factors deciding the title this year. So far, advantage Chelsea.

Alonso has worked with the system, but he is winding me up a bit. Very clearly a level below the rest of the team. Does some nice things, but is very prone to giving the ball away at silly times. Would swap Kenedy in for him in a heartbeat.

I know they weren't playing 3 at the back then, but whenever I see them play I always get back to thinking how Liverpool outplayed them on their own turf and how Arsenal battered them. Certainly title contenders but I don't see them, or anyone for that matter winning the title comfortably.

We just won seven in row which did result in a one point advantage compared to Cuty and Liverpool. It just shows you that what we have achieved thus far has helped us remain in a good position for the title, but not much more really. However November has been a tradutionally difficult period for us. Not this time

How did this lot have such a crap season last year ? I know Chelsea fans might be tired of explaining last season, but anyone do tell me. How much of it was the players bad form, or downing tools and how much it was Jose's fault ?
Kante has been a great addition but more noticeable is the likes of Matic, Costa and Hazard playing at a level uncomparable to last season. Is it just a form improvement or they decided to turn up for the new manager ?

All down to Jose. He fought with the board as his transfer targets. He persisted playing players who were bad game after game. After things went shit, most players didn't want to play for him. Conte is so much different to Jose. Much better man manager and a tactician. Actually I don't know one thing in which way Jose is better than Conte.

What is wrong in a manager demanding the board for the players he wants, especially when he just won you the league last time around ?

About the bolded part, I don't understand. He persists with them, and they reward him by not giving a shit ?

Hazard has come out recently and said that although the media don't believe him, he was carrying a hip injury for much of last season and that badly affected his performances. I can't help but wonder if our reliance on playng through him, mixed with that minor injury might have set off the decline, and then Jose just didn't manage to lift the team back up/work around it and it just ended up in a vicious circle of collapsing morale and frustration.

I doubt we'll ever know for sure what happened, because I doubt Jose and the players really know either. It's always tempting to look for the easy answer (it was Jose's fault!/It was the players being prima donnas!/It was chemtrails!) but I think that kind of bizarre falling apart has to be a fairly complex domino effect of lots of small things just setting off a disintegration. I'm still annoyed by how bizarre some of Jose's behaviour was over the last few seasons (the Eva thing in particular was just nonsensical) but I don't blame him completely for last year. Sometimes things just fall apart.

How do you think Conte will deal with the period with plenty of games during December? He seems to play the same team over and over (6 times in a row now) and the squad players are hardly getting a sniff, which should be a problem when they need to contribute during the busy period.

Makes a lot of sense, thanks for the reply. Your squad was far too better than last years showings, seems to be they are back on track.

Their previous manager did exactly the same.

Yes and it helps not having european football and being thrown out of the league cup. Also you now see youngsters more often on the bench, so to me it appears that they are closer to the core first 11.

Conte and Chelsea have impressed this year. Conte actually made drastic changes to both lineup and formation. He put his own vision into the team and what is happening is remarkable. I actually enjoy watching Chelsea. When Mourinho was coaching Chelsea I couldn't stand that anti-football.

He was the laziest SOB I ever saw when we took him on loan. Wouldn't break into a jog to score a tap in, let alone track back.

It's weird.

Really must be down to a manager finally giving him the confidence.

Fyi to those talking about [Irrelevant point], he should be in jail, straight up fecking murderer, would be happy if he got hit by a truck while playing in traffic, can't believe he can be afforded the luxory to be free, let alone playing professional football at this level.

/end rant

Well, he is probably not the only one who got out of jail thanks to a laughable justice system that has really never touched anyone who was rich and famous in Spain.

Things started going shit for Mourinho after defeats to Tottenham and Bradford in January 2015, after which Jose decided to stop playing football with Chelsea and started grinding out 1-0 victories. It culminated with lashing out at the medical team, calling Dr. Carneiro "a daughter of a bitch", etc. Whether the players responded and acted professionally or not is another matter, but the root for Chelsea's problems last season was Jose Mourinho.

Does not excuse the fact he straight up killed a woman and was happy with getting a €61,000 fine and seems to not have skipped a beat. Disgusting. Every time I see the guys face I want to punch it.

This is is a thread about Chelsea's performances this season. Start your own thread if you want to talk about a non football related thing from years ago when the guy was not a Chelsea player, please don't turn this into that.
