You're just disagreeing for attention. Look at Mings face and where he's looking before and during the stamp. Quite clearly intentional
If I were trying to intentionally stamp on someone's head, I think it would look a lot different. Look how he awkwardly jumps with his right foot when we sees Zlatan lying there in the last moment. It's the same movement when you walk down the street and suddenly try to avoid a big puddle in front of you. I'd be very surprised if that was his way of intentionally stamping someone.

This was up there with the RvP "he could've killed him" incident.

I'm not kidding when I say my little sister has a black belt in Taekwondo. You get it after about 3 years of lessons. It's not as impressive as it sounds.

Having said that, Zlatan looks like a pretty tough dude and in a Premiership Royal Rumble, he'd be one of the favourites.
It does point to him having an understanding of striking technique which makes a huge difference to some random hard man throwing wild punches. We also know he can throw head kicks and with his power and knowledge of proper technique he'd knock hard men out one hit. It's all hypothetical nonsense anyway as either could have a glass jaw or a brick jaw. And looking hard really had no bearing on fighting ability at all so it's really just made up attributes given to random people making the whole discussion less than meaningless.

Zlatan has perfectly disguised his true intentions when he jumped for that cross. There's no way he should be punished with retrospective red, when he simultaneously has ticked so many mitigating boxes. He was at the end of the cross; went for it in the air as if he was genuinely fighting for a scoring chance; the ball did hit the top of his head; he hasn't even glanced at Mings instead appearing to be focused solely on the ball; those types of elbows happen all the time. The key to correct interpretation of his actions lies in context, however when you forget about what happened before the second(or third) act you do get quite a typical yellow card offence and no more. It looks like we've got a hitman on our books
I saw it first as did Gary Neville in commentary before he'd seen the initial Mings stamp.

A discussion about who would win a premiership royal rumble is as meaningful as most of the bollocks on here! Maybe that should be the next draft idea. Instead of people pretending to know about players they've never seen play they could talk about the fighting skills of people they've never seen fight.

The true north.
Justified, yes, but also deserved a sending off.
Zlatan should keep in mind that he is more important than any of their players. We need him to keep his cool, even if they act like idiots.
Yeah absolutely Ibra should have been off as well, not denying that. Just saying I have no problem with it. You're right of course, it'd be better for him to stay cool but I know I wouldn't in that situation

Think people being far too quick to judge. Pretty positive that was not intentional. He does look down to see the obstacle (Ibrahimovic) he has to clear in order to get back and defend. But then as he starts moving he hasn't seen Rooney who moves into his path, he slightly knocks into Rooney taking some of the momentum away he needed to clear Zlatan.

Clumsy, yes. Intentional - no don't think so.

I probably still would've elbowed him like that though just for being such a clumsy feck.

This post makes it sound like you've your timeline messed up - the stamp came first (if I've misread your post somehow then apologies).
You are right, I had it backwards there in my post.

I still don't condone Ibra's elbow to the face, but it does make it more understandable on a human level.

I've read it likewise, cause we've all watched this game and did witness that first altercation between Ibra and Mings. Also if there was one person who knew exactly what he's doing with his body then it'd be this Swedish muscle mountain. Furthermore that hit from elbow was very clean and had a bit of extra malice in it to spice it up, but it doesn't make those mitigating circumstances evaporate.

there's a jerking stamping movement - like a pause before he decides how & where to put his leg

after he's clocked where Zlatan is lying

I think Mings might have been going for the pony tail rather than the total head-shot but that ain't much mitigation

Don't be silly mate, If i thought I was about to stand on some ones head I'd do my best to move my foot not place it right down on top increasing the force in which I'm putting it down

do you know how many times I've nearly stood on my cat as it ninjas it self behind me in morining?
Do you know what I do? I simply move my foot, sometimes I end up doing a massive lunge or almost falling over, what I don't do is proceed to stamp down directly on to it.
Zlatan bullies defenders and threw him to the floor, he saw a chance to leave a mark on him without being seen and raked his studs down his head, its black and white for everyone to see

Looks far from intentional. Looked like a standard fellaini type tussle, if you take it in isolation (ignoring the fact he got stamped by the same cnut on the head).
Actuallt agree with you. Looked more like a tough tackle from Ibra - the way he usually does, towards their chests so they'll fall down. But the only thing I can say about this is - if Ibra get 2-3 matches (ban), then Mings should get 15. Anyone other than Ibra, with his physique, would have probably ended up unconscious.

The only "good" side if Ibra gets a ban, is that he can get some needed rest. Hopefully no more than 2 matches, if any (in my opinion).

There's no debate. When you jump over someone, you stretch your leg forward so it lands in front of you. He intentionally plants his leg behind him, because he had knew he wants to stamp his head.

Go jump over someone and see where your leg lands.
This.

Disgusting? Come on...

I definitely think he meant it but it's not inconceivable that he was trying to jump over Zlatan. To suggest you're not sure and that only the players themselves know is hardly "disgusting"

Are you having a laugh? He looks at Ibra, looks at the ball and then looks at Ibra again just to make fecking sure, jumps early and plants his foot early. You can piss off with this 'only the players know' crap.

Danny Murphy is a fecking idiot. Seriously how can he not be sure whether it deserves a ban or not.

Brilliant point and way to look at it: we have cats too and I've face your situation many times; I never allow my foot to go down vertically and manage to deviate at the last millisecond. And its always worked with worst case being me steeling lightly on their tail or foot. Even then, its very painful for the poor things.

Or put another way, if I imitated Mings movement, my poor cats would be pulverised. :(

No way it wasn't intentional. If you accidentally stand on someones fecking head, you show serious remorse and concern. If it's calculated, you trot on and pretend you know nothing about it. Mings didn't even break stride after he did it, and he didn't look back. He didn't even try to make it look accidental by holding his hands up and asking if Zlatan was okay.

Post match interview, Mings had a semi-smirk as he explained his side of the story. It didn't look like the expression of someone who had accidentally stood on someones head.

and criticise Ibra for falling when he was pushed over. Such a cheap ABU bias.

Zlatan just been interviewed on SS and claiming that

- he didn't know who stamped on his head.

- he cant remember what he said to Mings before the corner because he talks a lot during games

- Mings jumped into his elbow at the corner and he hopes Mings did not get injured in the tussle.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

@GifLord Can you get the gif?
Ibra's clearly suffering from concussion after Ming's lethal act...

Given the circumstance and vdo evidence, i think it is inconceivable that Mings had an accident.

We're talking about representative of profession that revolves around running, requires technique and skills of operating with one's legs, as well as demands possessing the ability of avoiding running into others (how often do you see collisions of professional players with referees). All of that drilled from an early age.

Mings and Zlatan's interviews have been hilarious. Like EastEnd villains both look shifty and avoid looking into the camera, as they try to convince the cops that nothing happened.:lol:

Kudos to both of them -both hard as nails

wonder who would win a cage fight? I think Mings would cane our Zlatan
Ibra would "destroy" him. Black belt in taekwondo.

Provide all the "evidence" you like but unless you actually are Mings himself you cannot be 100% sure. That's not an opinion - it's a fact.

I think Mings deliberately stamped zlatan, and is therefore a twat, but I'm not daft enough to suggest I know without a shred of doubt

They'll both get bans and rightly so. Ibra not only for the elbow, but also him wrestling Mings to the floor which bizarrely got next to no attention.

The stamp is clearly deliberate and deserves a lengthy ban.

We see elbows all the time that go unpunished, rarely do you see retrospective action unless the player is looking at the person they elbow - I think referees like to use that as evidence it's a premeditated attack rather than an accident. No doubt Zlatan knew what he was doing but if he gets banned they're setting a new precedent for reptrospective action. It's also possible it was an accident (although I don't think it was).

I don't think the same can be said for Mings who looks at Ibra and stamps right on his head. There's no way he isn't getting a big ban.

Need some sort of passive video ref who can flag this kind of stuff - he would never break up play but can just refer the ref to the big screen for incidents. Then the ref can take action.

Retrospective bans for both. They had been 'at' one another All game.
Ming' stamp was retaliation for Zlatan stamp on him seconds before.
Zlatan' elbow was retaliation for the stamp.
Zlatan' worst game for us today unfortunately .

Quite a political clusterfcuk for the FA to untangle.

Given the clubs stance after the game, I doubt they will complain if Mings is let off, if Zlatan also escapes censure.

Problem will come with a Zlatan ban and an escape for Mings, which could be argued as the only conclusive outcome, according to some like Danny Murphy and Linekar.

Reality suprises idiots way too often, even now in times of Trump. Mings will get his ban and Ibra will get off scot-free.
