Why do we mostly attract morons from other clubs' fanbase on caf? Imagine saying league cup is not a real cup...

Ajax beat Celta home and away in the group stages. Ajax fan at work viewed them as the weakest team in the semis.

We can beat Ajax, good young team, but this is a step up in class for them.

The remaining three league games should be used to rest the team for the final and gives youth some PL experience
Not a very good comparison, Celta eliminated Madrid from cup and we defeated Celta then does that means we can defeat Madrid ? Each game is on its own.

LvG won a trophy, not the league cup but a real one, and he did meet his target in the first season. It's funny to see how a lot of people here are twisting facts to make it look like Mourinho has done a decent job. LvG was actually trying to learn the players to play football properly, Mourinho has given up on that. If you play proper football, you can even make it to the final with a <20 million bunch of teenagers. Imagine what United could do if a mature 400 million squad plays fluent, organized attacking football like that.
FA cup isn't enough to keep your job. His first season is irrelevant, considering we went backwards after spending a feckload of money, mind. We needed a major rebuild with players moving on and ageing etc. and he spent major dough on for the most part, wank players, excuse my language. We didn't finish in the top four in his second season, a better manager was made available and he was replaced. League Cup, Europa League and CL qualification would be a far better season than one FA cup and no CL.

Also, yes, Mourinho has achieved everything he has by not being able to teach his teams to play football, you're right, how could I have not seen it.

Why does there always have to be at least one person before every match suggesting we should play x or y youngster? You know it won't happen. I don't get peoples obsession with giving youth a chance.

I think i'll avoid the caf for a month if United lose the final. It's an European final. Cheer up. I know the performance was bad but Celta deserve some credit. And United as well. It has been a long season, full of matches, season ending injuries to important players and you're still playing for something unlike plenty of other clubs and their jealous fans. Some are happy with Top4 cup but United can finish the season with CL qualification as well and two cups for the cv. Where others will make up fancy speechs about progression, net spend, trends and golden gloves awards, United will play for another piece of silverware and a place in history with an Europa League win. It will be great for fans and players.

If I'm not mistaken, Jose's record in finals is:

Played 14, won 12, lost 2.

Can someone confirm?

Yeah, imagine...
Not caring enough about certain competitions and calling a trophy not a real cup are not same things. If Europa was not giving CL route, most wouldn't have cared about it as much. Doesn't make it 'not a real cup.'
Similar for domestic cups. FA cup has history and many fans value it more than league cup but that doesn't make league cup 'not a real cup.'

A chance to win a trophy we've never won before.
A chance to collect our third piece of silverware this season.
A chance to win a final that our old friends managed to screw up just 12 months ago.
A chance to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
A chance to put United firmly back on track.

Bring it on. May 24 is going to be epic. Gutted not to have tickets but I've booked the next day off work instead.

Come on United!!

Good to see some positivity around here at times, with how depressing this place has gotten over the past few months you'd think we were on the verge of relegation.

We're in a European final and there's still some people moaning ffs.

Yes, lost one final with Porto and another with Madrid and both were after extra time.

Remember this cup lose against Atletico when Ronaldo scored first from a corner then Ateltico turned the match on Madrid.

Has to be Jones + one other.

I don't trust Smalling and Blind together at all.
Is Jones even fit? I think it'll be Smalling, personally. He seems to be our 3rd (4th?) centre back option, considering he's been brought on off the bench a few times.

If he qualifies for the CL by winning the EL against a bunch of kids that's just one achievement, not two trophies and the 'if' is quite big. LvG only just missed out on 4th spot thanks to a brilliant Leicester, an extreme injury crisis and the idea of a better manager beeing availalbe, a backstabber hiding in the curtains, didn't help either. It was a false idea, Mourinho has never been and will never be a better manager, he's just judged by different standards.

He doesn't now. Any other side in the last 8 of the EL plays better football with lesser players.

I hope you win (favourite premier league team of mine) but can't see it happening. You barely got past Celta and Ajax looks very strong (some great young players too). Your hectic schedule that Mourinho likes to remind everyone about won't help.

Most neutrals will be supporting Ajax due to the way they play football too - but I wish you luck.

Celta drawed one game 2-2 and lost the other 3-2. Also, they seem to have played their B team versus Ajax on both occasions.

This is up there with the biggest rubbish I've read on this forum. When was the last time LVG won anything of note? Not to add, Mourinho's won more Champions Leagues and more league titles (?).

How is winning a trophy not a trophy? He has the community shield, which I'm not even counting, the league cup and assuming he wins it, the Europa League. That is miles better than the dross that was LVG's season last season. That's not even comparable. FA cup and putting us in the Europa league, despite spending a feck load of money and regressing. I don't care for your reasoning for that joke of a season. If my Aunt had a cock she'd be my uncle. If this Jose Mourinho United team could finish, we'd be a lot better off this season, but alas, if's and but's don't get you anywhere.

LVG lost 4-0 to a bunch of kids called MK Dons. Also no, he lost out on top 4 place because he wasn't in the top four best teams in the league, missing out on goal difference to a City team that completely collapsed basically half way through the season, only for us to still miss out.

You're right about being judged by different standards though, Jose is judged as a winner, LVG hasn't been judged in that same light for nearly a decade now.

Not as good as your 'Pogba has a slow football brain', but still nice

Tuanzebe should be nailed on as a starting centre back with Bailly out.

I'm also very sceptical about the idea of playing Blind and Darmian. Both were shocking last night.

One of Jones or Smalling should partner Tuanzebe at centre half, and I'm leaning towards Young at left back.

Scraped through, but I'm still very excited to be in the final of this competition.

Our boys really need to take it up a gear in the final though as Ajax are no pushovers.

How does one go about trying to get a ticket for this match without paying £600!+?

Mourinho not being better than LVG.
I think the guy is trying to rival Glaston on this forum. He comes up with amazing comments.

"Pogba wouldn't start in Ajax midfield"
"LVG better than Jose"

I don't know, this is Jones we are talking about. Was wondering if he was injured in training or something.
He was on bench yesterday. I guess Mourinho will prefer Smalling over him. Both can be given a game each, along side Bailly over next 2 games, Spurs and Southampton and kept ready. The Smalling-Blind partnership worked well last season so that is one thing in favour of going with that pairing for final.

I'm guessing United, as the "away" team in this game, will have to wear the blue kit.

We won the FA Cup and EFL cup in our last 2 finals wtf are you on about? Unless you mean our last 2 CL finals v Barca with completely different players and coach????
I said played poorly, didn't say lost finals. Sure FA Cup final was under LVG & his monotonous possession football but Crystal Palace were the better team on the day but missed great chances to win it. Utd were dire but we'll ignore this since it was under LVG as I said.
Southampton were by far the better team in the EL Cup final and Utd as I said were poor and if it wasn't for Zlatan, Utd would have easily lost that.

3 premiership games between now and 24th May. Just play youth for them all, and that way we cant cry or complain about not having sufficient rest. Think I read somewhere that Mitchell and 1 or 2 other lads were with the first team this week so could be a sign they will get time on the pitch.

Massive game, and im slightly scared of Ajax. I watched the first leg and thought "my god these lads can play". Didn't see last nights game and seen a skysports title read "Ajax hold on". I looked at the stats of the game and from the stats it looks like ajax battered Lyon silly :wenger:
