Are you watching closely?
I demand apologies from the usual anti-jose suspects.

Ajax 2 shots on target, both at Romero.

We dominated the whole game.
 We have a different view of what constitutes domination.

You won't get an apology from me. We do not look one iota better than we did last year under van Gaal, we're still very much a mediocre team. Beating a bunch of nobodies in a very unimpressive fashion on our way to the EL trophy doesn't change that. Jose has a lot of things he needs to get right in the summer or he'll follow in the footsteps of Moyes and van Gaal.

Happy we've got CL though.

Tactics were perfect. If we had a few better players, then it could have been more than 2-0.

I wouldn't call it a masterclass, Ajax were really poor, but it was efficient and that's been missing all season.
Ajax were poor because we marked them out of the game. They played into our hands.

Reminds me of the early days with Rooney/Ronaldo. We were also tactically naive back then. Took experience to get our CL trophy.

No doubt this ajax team is lacking in experience. Will be difficult for them to keep the players they have as Im sure bigger clubs will come calling for the likes of sanches and dolberg.

We are much better than Ajax we probably did not have to do that.
We had to. Ajax had 2 weeks break, our players would have fainted at 60th min had they played all the games. Jose did the right thing to rest them and it was clear to see the concentration levels improved whole game.

Finals with Mourinho usually go this way in general. He has a phenomenal record in finals.
I meant not only the result but whole dominance without the ball. In the other finals with United things still looked a bit shaky but it was typical Mourinho today. It will be great to see him (and United) back in the Champions League

Did you ever feel that Ajax would win that game once it kicked off? That's what constitutes domination.

We were the only team that ever looked like winning.

They had no movement, nothing was working for them. It wasn't their night and United just had to be decent defensively and create a few chances, it wasn't like United were closing them down quickly and forcing mistakes, Ajax made most of them on their own.

We sat off them until outside our box and crowded them out when they dribbled close to the penalty area. It was by design. Barely had a sniff of goal. Shooting into bodies all night long.

What Ajax should have done was start banging in crosses. For the whole match they kept trying the same trick which was go short through the middle.

While we didn't play well, you can only beat who's in front of you. Ajax did well to get to the final and a lot if people were rabbiting on about their youth and exuberance and their pressing game - which we nullified perfectly.

Can you enjoy tonight at least for 5 minutes?

It was exactly like that, they were poor in part because we didn't give them space and forced them to make mistakes.

Showing exactly why he is the best in his post-match interview. This game played out exactly the way he wanted to.

They were so static, it was the usual tactics of sitting off and allowing the opposition to have possession with a few players making challenges quicker than normal like Darmian and Fellaini having a rare decent performance against a midfield with no real physical presence. It worked against Ajax but I don't think it came close to the effectiveness of the Chelsea performance at Old Trafford, that was peak Mourinho this season and hopefully those ideas will be built on for the tougher matches in the future.

He got it exactly right. Set up defensively with a view to counter attack. People get that confused with parking the bus, there is a distinct difference and Mourinho had the team execute it perfectly.

There is a clear difference between sitting back and setting up defensively to enable the counter attack. We did the latter.

How times change. I remember very well the stick given on here over CFC's CL win. Tonight was defensive and boring, but ultimately successful.

Congrats on the win and CL qualification.
We don't care.

I said I was happy with CL, but it's a discussion forum, we're supposed to give our opinions. It'd be a pretty boring place if everyone agreed about everything, no?
Yeah. Same as always always moaning. That's a bit boring too tbh.

There is nobody in world football past or present whose skillset is more perfectly suited to a big final than José. If he managed Liverpool against Sevilla last year, they would have won. He demonstrated all those qualities that made him the success he is tonight.

Some people just think it's cool being divisive even when the time/event doesn't call for it. There are actually a lot of them on this forum, it's like a contest for them. Must be miserable people to hang out with though I doubt they have many friends.

It's stupid to compar the two games

But if you want to, your game was not defensive, it was clinging on by the skin of your teeth for 120 mins

I've never seen a team win at such a one sided game. A one in a million game. A total fluke

Tonight for Utd was very easy

I think you're only happy they are in the CL because it will give you more opportunities to make belligerent posts in an attempt to get your rocks off.

He doesn't pick a style like Pep/klopp and stick with it, it does what he needs to do to win

I prefer Jose's approach any day over managers like Pep, Klopp and Van Gaal. These managers know to play only one way and can't adapt to different game situations. The City line up and the way they played against Monaco in the 2nd leg would never have happened under Jose.
