People won't realise how big of a loss this is for another few years. He is going to be World class.
Kind of a "jam tomorrow" situation going on though - how many players have meant to be massive and turned out to be less than spectacular. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. Di Maria was meant to be the final piece for us and he didn't work out - we need players who fit our style and if Mourinho doesn't see that then let's find out who we get.

Di Maria never wanted to be here in the first place. Silva is a top, top talent. You'd be hard done finding any players on the planet with the control he has, Messi and Iniesta, probably it. If things go his way, we're going to be regretting letting him to go City without a fight for a while yet imo.

I've never really given a shit who our rivals sign, but Silva is a special talent.

We are all disappointed because he will benefit City a lot but calm the feck do down, we still don't know who we will bring.

Silva benefits Pep's style of play, doesn't mean he should necessarily benefit Jose's one.

Dont give a damn, Our style of play whole season has not been different. Pep does not have a right to get every creative players out there .

Very happy that he joined them and not us. Especially for that price. Similar kind of happy like the Pedro situation last season :)

City are mental, if they really paid that much money then  he's a lightweight and doesn't do anything special that stands out. i think pep just wants a technical player to play keep ball possession. lemar looks a better overall player imo, but so early to tell for any of those monaco players tbh.

I bought him on FM recently. Will never be able to look at him the same way now.

He's not exactly a signing that addresses the weaker areas of United or City. Both have a good stock of 10s and inside forwards.

And Silva wants to be here? And, yes his touch might be amazing but how is he against teams that will press him, or with team mates who have difficulty controlling the ball in tight spaces? What is his work ethic like, will he play through the pain barrier like Mourinho would want him to? If he goes to City he'll be playing in a team that like to keep the ball, press and attack. Under Mourinho he'd be expected to put in a defensive shift and counter attack.

The above are genuine questions as I'm not overly familiar with the player.

 at everyone dropping their balls with this. Yes he's a good player but there will be other players who suit us better. Just trust Jose on what he's trying to build here and trust his judgements on players.

I'm disappointed as well but I do think there are other players out there who might fit us better.

Jose gives. If he didn't put Silva on his priority targets list then he wasn't very keen on him.

We won't prevent the opponents from getting great players. That's not one team league.

He thrives in those conditions tbh. Which is why I think he'd suit us to a tee, he'd be the one beating the press and initiating counter-attacks, not many players around better at dancing out of presses tbh.

There's several clips of him dancing around 3-4 City players trying to close him down.

In a way, that is another reason I'm a bit disappointed. But maybe Jose will be more attacking next season in the big games with better players.

That has nothing to do with them being attacking or defending, as Jose will definitely bring attacking players as well.

Annoyed by this tbh, one of the players I've enjoyed the most this season. This kid is very good with ball at his best and creating space to launch attacks. He should thrive under Guardiola and other young attacking players at City.
I really wanted us to sign him.

You guys remember the last time a portuguese player destroyed a Manchester team and then signed for them????
You're not suggesting he's anywhere near Ronaldo, are you?

Ronnie was 19 as well with enormous potential. I'm not sure Silva will go to another level

They've not hung about their city, fair play to them. Big money if true and given the other areas they need to strengthen, it's going to be an expensive summer for the sheiks.

From what I have seen of him, he looks class but I still think we're more in need of orthodox wingers and I don't think Silva fits that mould.

The reaction of people here, they might as well have signed Messi.

Until and unless Pep signs a class defense (yes, a whole one), not worried one bit about them.

Jose after wining the final

"Ed Woodward has my list, what I want, what I would like for more than two months,"
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...antoine-griezmann-jose-mourinho-a7754501.html

Jose on Silva

“Will Bernardo Silva be with us next season? I don’t think so, honestly. But you never know, good players are always welcome here.”

Again, was never a target. We got sucked in by Canal+

We'll be forever trying to close the gap with City now. We've been run like a shambles for years whilst City just sign top quality players.
And yet we finished level on points with them last season and were on a similar trajectory this year until a couple of freak injuries derailed our league campaign leaving us with only two major trophies to their zero this season as well as qualifying for the Champions League. Shambolic.

Sometimes you look in a field and you see a cow and you think it's a better cow than the one you've got in your own field. It's a fact. Right? And it never really works out that way.

We have Angel Gomes. Folks are forgetting that he promoted him to 1st team action at 16! He could have gone with older players but didn't.

I think he's seen something special there:drool:
