There's always a player revolt at Chelsea, the players there seem to have way too much influence.
yes that's true but I think Chelsea will also invest quite a lot of money and there is only so many players you can use anyway. United has already a very good team, it certainly does not need 300 mln to compete at high level, probably a fraction of that with a good manager with good ideas will be more than enough. This is a United forum & United is pretty shite these days as a team so insularity is both nature and necessity. That said, Antonio is not used to games as open as the likes of Chelsea FA semifinal vs Spurs (you can clearly see how rattled he was) and resources are more widespread in the PL than Serie A. If United win tonight and get the CL spot, they may well invest £300m without a blink. Same for City. That's why being the smartest coach in town may not be enough. However, Chelsea did extremely well this year so very well done and congrats, the road is on the up again.
I am really optimistic about what were going to do this summer, with smart investment & the players continuing to learn with Conte our team could go up to the very top level. Its not even June and Chelsea have already pocketed £25m+ for the summer. With potential sales of the likes of Traore, Van Ginkel, Kalas, Kenedy and Pasalic very likely, I can see the total sales getting very close the £100m mark even if Costa does not end up in China.
Could be a massive summer spree where we go toe to toe with the manc clubs. Cant wait for the summer to come.
A manager who can't play 4 at the back to save his life or his career. He'll be stuck with 3 at the back and pray that midtable teams remain dumb all season that there's actually an easy way to counter it.
Not as a manager.Has Conte never managed to win a cup competition?
That's pretty poor
Never seen anything like it. So many matches where they scored literally their first chance of the game.I think they will fight for TOP 4 next season. I wasn't really impressed by them this season. They had a clear advantage over other teams by not playing in europe and they were very clinical with their chances, scoring pretty much everything they create.
yes so dumb that he has won the last 6 leagues in a row, (he has taken part to) and will comfortably win the 7th too IMOA manager who can't play 4 at the back to save his life or his career. Don't put money on it.yes so dumb that he has won the last 6 leagues in a row, (he has taken part to) and will comfortably win the 7th too IMO
Not so much that, but they weren't so amazing this season. Best team, sure. They never really felt the pressure because the other teams struggled to get their shit together. One bad game and now everyone thinks they suck.
And yet nobody seemed to figure it out in time to stop them winning the league. He's still great but tbf, he needs to be more flexible because at the moment his tactical plan is completely exposed and not that hard to be countered.
The league was over since the 13 win run in the first half. And yet nobody seemed to figure it out in time to stop them winning the league.
they won 14 in a row. and 30 wins in the epl. An epl where even. Sunderland can get a draw out of you. They were amazing in the league. spurs got 86 points and still came up short. Hard to be dismissive of thatNot so much that, but they weren't so amazing this season. Best team, sure. They won 30 out of 38 games. Which would suggest that when Chelsea play the system to it's fullest, it's incredibly effective. The league was over since the 13 win run in the first half.
No one said it wasn't effective, it was, till its weakness becomes painfully obvious to everyone. They won 30 out of 38 games. Which would suggest that when Chelsea play the system to it's fullest, it's incredibly effective.
Dude, you are berating their achievement, as if winning the league is trivial. Not so much that, but they weren't so amazing this season. Best team, sure. They never really felt the pressure because the other teams struggled to get their shit together.
I'm not disputing that. But more games and injuries will contribute, should they find themselves stuttering next season. No one said it wasn't effective, it was, till its weakness becomes painfully obvious to everyone.
They deserve the league but if they continued with exactly the same setup next season it's not going to be an easy ride by any means.
They need more players to add more attacking threat from the midfield, so that Conte can tweak his setup when the flanks are closed on him.
I don't remember me saying it's weak, it's not flexible, though. That's why I said they need more players that can provide attacking threat from the midfield so that Conte can change his approach if they're countered, not being 100 % dependent on the flanks like now.I'm not disputing that. But more games and injuries will contribute, should they find themselves stuttering next season.
It's not a 'weak' system, far from it. The most PL wins in a season, is testament to that. Tottenham showed the blueprint as to how to beat Chelsea as far back as January, but nobody could emulate their approach and performance - because few teams can.
Chelsea have been exceptional this season.
I'm not belittling the achievement, they were the best team and worth winners for sure. Just saying, in 15 years time nobody will remember this Chelsea side.Dude, you are berating their achievement, as if winning the league is trivial.
They were brilliant this season and did something which MUFC have spent £100Ms and used several managers trying to achieve, while failing.
Winning the EPL is one of the most difficult tasks in European football. Ask the all conquering Guardiola. Ask LFC, who won the CL about 12 years ago (?), but haven't won the league in decades.
Yep, appreciate that.I don't remember me saying it's weak, it's not flexible, though. That's why I said they need more players that can provide attacking threat from the midfield so that Conte can change his approach if they're countered, not being 100 % dependent on the flanks like now.
Conte himself understands this imo and that's why he's pressing to get more transfers in the summer.
No one will remember this side in 2 years time....and that's being kind.I'm not belittling the achievement, they were the best team and worth winners for sure. Just saying, in 15 years time nobody will remember this Chelsea side.
I'm not sure you'll be challenging for the CL without a bit of a revamp tbhLosing the final is a bummer but a little less worried about next season now.
Pretty sure the club goes out and gets 3-4 new starters this summer. If it goes alright, we should be challenging not only for the leauge but CL too.
Yeah I meant 4 new players worth in the region of £180-200m. Thats as much of a revamp as any team can handle in a summer.I'm not sure you'll be challenging for the CL without a bit of a revamp tbh
