We'd surely be one of the most difficult teams to break down in Europe.
We won't get a left back unless we sell Blind, Shaw and Darmian. Jose likes to sell before he buys. I'd be fine with 4 new players, I'd love Sanchez as well but anything more than that would be a full scale overhaul.
Why do a lot of people keep mentioning Sanchez? Have I missed the links? And I can't see Arsenal selling to us let alone when Wenger and Jose are the managers.

Seriously. People saying 'can't believe we aren't going for Sanchez' are stupid. Wenger would rather die than sell mourinho his best player. Would think it's the same for selling to Pep too
I might be too harsh but I still find Tony V too one dimensional to be a top class full back. I refer to his offensive capabilities of course. That isn't to say that his defensive game is top class either. He's strong and has improved his positioning and awareness but he's getting close to the wrong side of 30.
I didn't think we needed a new centre back. We concede few goals. The problem is that we score few as well. A new striker, Morata, is good for the team, but we are in serious need of good wingers. Our right flank has been dominated by Valencia, our right back, but we need more dynamism from our winger. Mikhi has been well below par. In addition, our left side has been weak as well. Martial has been poor, our left backs non existent in attack - Darmian looks petrified when he approaches the half way line. A right winger who can also play on the left would be very welcome.
I wasn't sure initially if they were talking about Renato, but then realised it's actually Alexis and was a bit baffed.
With our injury record in that position, we needed reinforcing.
He's a top full back. A better attacking full back than 95% you could name. His final product is inconsistent but he pushes the opposition winger and full back into their own half. It's underrated.
We simply don't have the need or budget to replace a player in one of our best performing positions though. All good if you'd do that though.
Not Perisic as our wing after all.
It depends how Mourinho plans to use them really. If we switch to a 3-5-2 then we would have a strong team.

I don't know anything about Perisic, other than Inter are asking for over 4 times the amount they bought him for only a couple of years ago. Has he improved that much? It seems that Douglas Costa is available for a similar price, who is a top class player. It seems odd we haven't thrown our hat in to the ring.
Other than that, I'd be fine with that set of incoming players. Lindelof looks 99% done, and Morata looks to be on its way, but I've not seen anything concrete about Fabinho yet. Seems to be a lot of mixed news on that front.

Agree with this, he's been incredibly underwhelming for the most part. If he had performed as expected or even close to it that would hae made the world of difference. Morata replacing Zlatan about, I'm becoming increasingly happy with that. Not to criticise him too much as he was our only player scoring last season, while his hold up play is brilliant, it made our attack predictable and very slow at times. Morata will help to improve on that aspect at least.
That would mean that we got the bases where we need replacing covered for a top 4 finish. ST(replacing Ibra), DM(replacing Carrick), CB(upgrade on smalling/jones) and Winger(additional player for stretching play in home matches). No need for LB as it is better to give Shaw and Demetri Mitchell mins this season in LB unless we could get a player like Mendy.

We need an exceptional attacking talent either a number 10, or winger or wide forward in addition to the 4 who could make the difference and bring in the Rooney contribution(goals/assists) which we had in addition to other strikers over the years. Some will not accept it, but imho we need to replace Mata who is currently taking that position/role in the team and his stats are poor compared to the role and we need an upgrade on him.

I'd be satisfied, but hand on heart it isn't enough to turn us into league winners. We need another creative outlet to add to those players. If you were to even add a James in, would make a huge difference. Personally i'd rather we went for a more creative winger than Perisic as I just don't think he will be a success at all, and a #10. LB is fine for me this window.

We need goals. We scored 54 league goals last year which is less than Bournemouth. I don't see these signings changing that one iota. Thus again we will score few goals.

Never ever in a million years. To satisfy my needs you'd have to add Toni Kroos or Veratti to begin with. On top of that you'd need to find a more exciting striker.

Yeah, but then you have Tuanzebe and Fosu Mensah there as well. We don't concede many goals, but we do require a much greater scoring threat. Pogba can easily score 8-10 more goals next season though.
Exactly - we need more goals! Lindelöf is not going to change that. Morata might, but I'm not sure he will score more than Ibra. We need our wingers and midfielders to score a great deal more.

I think Perisic is a very functional player and having someone like Morata, that will get on the end of a lot of crosses he'll put in, I can see us scoring a lot more. Let's not forget, Mhiki's second season, Martial - hopefully put his last season behind him, Rashford, Mata - these will all be threats next season. If we get another attacking player, it would go one of two ways IMO. Could easily end up being a waste of money and I don't like wholesale changes and how they affect squads.

We are still lacking in the attacking area. We need some proper quality to augment what Morata, Rashford and Martial may potentially add. If their clubs are really that desperate to dump them, I'd take Costa and James. It will cost a lot of money but we have a lot of catching up to do.

With these 4 plus other players improving I would expect us to improve as a team overall and finish in the top 4. But having said that there's really not much hope of us winning the title with this group of players.
Also for all those people comparing these signings to SAF's signing of players of a similar profile, they are missing one thing. When SAF bought functional players it was to add to a squad that had enough quality to challenge for the title. Players like Perisic are supplementary players who would be a solid addition to an already very good squad, but at the moment we don't have a very good squad. So to compare such signings to SAF is a bit foolish. Its not about signing a big name but the profile of players needed to win big trophies, so in a way its justifiable if much of our fan base our underwhelmed by our rumored signings.

Yeah I'd be happy. The only one of concern is Perisic and that's mainly due to his age and cost, I'm not doubting his ability.
If I'm being greedy I'd also add a attacking left back and sell Darmian. There's always hope with Shaw but something's not right there.

Never seen Perisic so can't comment on him but would be very happy with the others. Fabinho is the signing I am really hoping we complete as he'll add another dimension to the midfield.
However, even with the 4 signings I still think we lack another attacker now Zlatan is gone (assuming Rooney is gone/finished at this level) & adding an attacking left back would be nice.

I'd be very happy with those 4 but I'd love a Chicharito to bring off the bench when needed. But after the struggles in front of goal last season I'm sure it's an issue that Mourinho is very conscious about.
All sound good but I'm unsure on Perisic. I haven't seen much of him, but what I have seen and comments I'm not overly enthused by this one. 44 million seems a lot of money on someone at his age and not a top level player. My preference would be to allow Martial have a real run at the LW spot next year. I'm hoping with a full summer off and decent preseason he can kick on. Think we still need a bit more up the top of the pitch.
We need more depth even if we bought all these players. We need another CM and a offensive player. It is a long season with plenty of matches, and with probably Rooney,Mata,Fellaini,Smalling/Jones leaving we need to add more. Before anyone says "but Mourinho played Mata and Fellaini" i will explain that we did not have any better options at the time and they are not typically Mourinho type players.
