This is how big clubs complete a transfer. Day 1: Linked. Day 2: Comment. Day 3: Confirmed. Day 4: Signed.
Of course it's all very different if you're signing players with exorbitant fees. With image rights, sponsorship deals and lastly and more importantly if selling club chooses to drag the transfer to command a higher price.

It's been in the news for the past month or so. You focus on United news more than Bayern news.

True but we do tend to drag out our transfer business more so than other clubs at times. Providing we sign our targets in the end, I don't really care though.

Liverpool fans will say the same thing, in fact I know they will. Arsenal fans, Chelsea fans, in fact I'm sure fans of many clubs will say the same thing. Buying players is not like walking into a supermarket and picking up a bag of apples. Some take time and some don't.

Didn't he write an article stating our 5 transfer targets were Lindelof, Fabinho, Perisic, Morata and Belotti...

Now our priorities are Lindelof (DONE), Perisic, Morata, and a DM.

So now less reluctant to stick his neck on the line for Fabinho and Belotti, and only willing to commit to the most widely rumoured incomings...

Can you please tell me what being 'linked' has to do with anything, given that we're linked to 100 different players every year?

Also, you actually believe this transfer was completed in four days?

Morata to Manchester United will be official fairly soon. His agent Juanma López is at the Bernabeu right now trying to close the deal.

Good grief, Delaney really needs the new season to start so he can get back to writing real articles. His transfer stories read like templates with "insert player name here" and "insert club name here" throughout.

For once a good article from Delaney. I agree with most of it. We need to give Jose what he wants. And if that means no muppet signing then so be it. This is a very important window for us
100% as much as I'd love to see a galactico level signing I think Mourinho knows what the team is missing. It might be that a workhorses like Perisic and Matic will free up the talent we already have in Mhiki, Pogba, Rashford etc.

This. The talent is there just as long as Mkhitaryan, Pogba and especially Martial take a step up next season.

For me Martial is the key to how great we can really become. I'm willing to bet last season's disappointment was a fluke.

Plus we'll get our galactico next summer with Greizmann

I feel the same. I see so much talent in Martial, he's a genuine X factor player. I also think claims that Mourinho doesn't fancy him have been overstated, and I think he'll have learned a lot from this season.

I agree. Martial is absolutely key this season, as he is the one virtuoso talent we have who can destroy teams on his own. The problem there is signing Perisič will likely mean he will continue this scenario of having 60 mins to play like Ronaldinho or be dropped for 3 games, which won't help him develop.

For that kind of money, I fail to see why we wouldn't look elsewhere. Might not be the same position, but for 70 million euros, you bet your ass you'd get a Dembele or a Pulisic+ someone else, easily.

If it's pounds, might as well get Kane.

But the question is, will these players plus a potential Morata be enough to take us to where we need to be, especially in the attacking department where we struggled last season.

Hate dealing with Real Madrid. Again, how much did they bid for DDG couple of years back? Absolute c*nts

Jose's default is not to sign big money galacticos. I think Pogba was the first bug money galactico he signed. Other galacticos he signed usually were steals in terms of cost (e.g Etoo and Zlatan) or were themselves looking for ways out of their old clubs (e.g Fabregas). Schevchenko and Ballack were imposed on him by Abrahimovic.

He typically emphasises efficient signings over flamboyant ones.

This is why i hate Real...greedy fckers!
Why should they care about us when we fecked them with De Gea two years ago? They are free to screw us over for every penny they feel they can squeeze out of our desperate asses.

I can't wait for us to be at a similar level and never have to deal with them again. This is one of the reasons I want us to bite the bullet this window, buy the best players we can and stop being at the mercies of clubs like these.

There have been transfers that drew this reaction over the years, then we find out that the business actually started several months earlier, the only thing that was different is that people either did not report rumors or ignored the rumor reports that were out there. For instance the Thiago transfer, so many people thought we dragged our feet and then Bayern just swooped in and got the deal done quickly. The reality was they were rumored to be after him, even before any links to us started, many United fans chose to ignore those links.
