Exaclty. Ronaldo is not playing in Ligue 1. The day he goes to the French league is the day he withdraws himself consideration from winning another Ballon d'or which is obviously very important to him.

If he leaves this summer it will only be for Manchester.

United
If he goes for PSG now, it'll be the biggest mistake in his career and will regret it greatly after.

Absolutely no way he leaves RM, and the idea that if he does he might go to PSG is laughable. That pissy Ligue 1 is no place for a player like him on the back of last seasons exploits. Ronaldo plays at the top till he retires, simple as that. Same applies to Messi. What a coincidence that Messi signs a huge deal a few weeks ago, and now all this drama. Maybe he has genuine reasons to be pissed, but RM are at the top and a move anywhere else would be a noticeable step down.

Get on the train while it's running mate  Get oooooon the train *T-Bag voice*
 anyone but Ronaldo and I'd get fully involved in this.

Just can't bring myself to think he'd come back to us only for him to let us down :(

Amazed anyone is buying this. Every year like clockwork. More money will be shoved in front of him and he'll realise how happy he is again.

When has he ever said he's not going back to Madrid?

All this talk of him coming is boring and immature....

... can we just post formations with Ronaldo in it instead?
I don't know about formations but a team with De Gea, Pogba, Mata and Ronaldo in it is seriously getting me wet.

So we sell him for £80m where he goes to Madrid and plays his prime years and then we buy him back for £180m when he's hitting 32? Feck this jog on unless it makes us money we should not touch with a barge pole. Madrid just managed him through a season cause his knee problem. Let him go to PSG.

That 80m was a record at this time it wasn't cheap at all. He was the most expensive football ever at this time. Can't see the logic here.

We can't bypass the Ballon D'Or winner when he's present in the market, especially if he has an affinity for us. If Ronaldo gave us 2 world class seasons it'll be enough for me.

I know.

My point still stands.

That was one of the best teams in the world.

This is one that has failed to finish ahead of its underperforming neighbours in 4 years and has faded fast.
If he came back and we won the league with him scoring a metric shit-tonne of goals he'd win it.

But he's not coming back so it's moot.

I think that he didn't avoid taxes intentionally. He earns too much to risk his public image especially after all the corruption cases in Spain politics.
He is too influenced by Mendes(Who had to testify in court recently for Falcao's taxes) so it's easier to start the speech "I am a victim of the system".
The star of Real Madrid feels persecuted in Spain?
I love Cristiano but this time I'm not buying this.
We spent 96,he played his best years here and now we can get from 150 to 200m€ so not a big drama

1. The club can easily afford him
2. Zlatan is 3 years older and performed like a lion in the PL. Ronaldo is arguably in better shape than him so why can't he play at a high level for another 3-4 years?

We aren't funded by Arabs, we can't blow 180m on one player when we have like 4-5 other positions we need to potentially strengthen. Like I said, I'd love Ronaldo here, but for a reasonable price.

He's brilliant but he won't be able to do that here.

United are far away from Europe's elite. Also only two premier league players have ever won the Balon.
Yes but he's one of those two and he can do it again.

Think of it like this, if I told you back in 2009 that eight years later in 2017 Ronaldo would still put up incredible numbers at 32, would you have believed me? My point is, this guy shouldn't be doubted. He has the talent, work ethic and drive to be great for a few more years.

It'd be a crazy time to go anywhere. He's brought himself back in line with Messi on the Ballon D'or, and starting to get the Real Madrid trophy haul higher.
Also, although he's put the Madrid goals record to a near to impossible level to match, a couple more seasons should ensure him as permanent top scorer in their history.

People will also be optimistic though. Remember the time when he was still about 10 goals short of their record, and people honestly thought he'd leave then!

You are failing to get my point.

It's not Ronaldo I am doubting. It's the poor supporting cast which will be to his detriment.

I even like Fellaini for example, but such calibre of player is far away from what he would be leaving in Spain.

This.

It's obviously not happening, but if it was possible: no brainer.

He would AT LEAST win us a PL, and that alone would be worth it.

He has only one career. He loved his time in Manchester and he may want to come home before it's to late. The Madrid fans are assholes as well.

In fairness we have no idea what Madrid would ask for. But to play devils advocate let's say it is 180m, it wouldn't be in one go. Would very likely be broken down into multiple payments like most transfers.

Not a chance he's leaving. Makes more sense for Madrid to allow him to rot in the reserves if he wants to go. They don't need the cash, and they don't need to strengthen a team who may end up facing them in CL.

They're pushing for 90m for Morata. Using that metric, 180m is me being nice.

Even if Ronaldo does a U-turn, he's going to come out of this looking very silly. I actually think Madrid would be very shortsighted to shoulder the blame for Ronaldo's tax problems. The club's image is more important than Ronaldo's, and even if he does actually leave, well they got their moneys worth.

I hear you. But here's my point, what if Ronaldo's impact is such that he can carry a team? He's arguably the best player in the world right now. His presence would elevate the team. Ronaldo on the pitch would draw attention from defenders and free up some of our other attackers to operate.

And I think you're selling short what we have now. We have Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Martial, Rashford, Herrera, Bailly, De Gea. There's legit talent already on the team.

I doubt this will happen ,but could you imagine the hype if he did! The Prodigal son and all that, it would be a marketing teams dream. The Jersey sales would be through the roof and lets be honest it would be Incredible to see him in a United Jersey Scaring the shit out of PL defences . One can only dream.
