TBH, most people were pointing to City as a clear favorite last season and no one imagined Chelsea to dominate the league like this. In EPL you can't clearly point to a favorite before the season and thing won't go as predictable as it seems. Also it's not just about having the best quality, it's about creating a winning machine.
Some of us was prediciting Chelsea would win the title. They have a well balanced team and a winning mentality.

Most predictions was going in the City direction, though, especially after their 6 win run in the league at the start of the season. No one predicted Chelsea to pounce like that later and dominate the league completely.

Precisely.

The upcoming season will be a different animal for them. No more playing the same 11 each week with no midweek games.
It's not like we're Liverpool or Spurs who are in the CL once in a blue moon. There will be no shock or growing pains with us. These players have all played in the CL before and many have won it.

-------------------Lukaku----------------
------------Hazard------------
---------------Cesc-----------------------
Alex Sandro----Kante----Bakayoko----Moses
---------Van Dijk-----Luiz---------Azpilicueta
------------------Courtois-------------------

William, Pedro, Matic, Alonso, Cahill etc as depth.

Excellent defence with added steel in midfield. Downgrade in the attack, especially if you want to keep counter-attacking style like last season. Hazard needs to be on a crazy level again to work.

There won't be shock or growing pains but there will be;

Less prep time for PL games
More travel
More fatigue
More injuries
More rotation
Less rhythm

I'm not suggesting that ye'll fold or anything. It's just a lot more to handle.

Huh? Not much is happening for other clubs as well. I imagined things will start picking up in the next few weeks with players coming back from their holidays.
We should have a player signed in the next week, at least.

This also.
I think inserting Cesc into the starting lineup improves our attack significantly. Sandro and Moses provide width and crosses for Lukaku and our wingbacks spent most of their time in the opponents half last season, so there's plenty of danger going forward.

Don't want to get ahead of myself, but if these transfers come off I think we're a different beast than last season.

The point was if chelsea get lukaku Bakayoko Sandro and van dyk.

We ain't linked with that type of expensive signings now, just a lot of overinflated fee quoted which I don't think we will pay in the end. It would be quiet reasonable with our targets

VVD is a good signing but I don't see much difference elsewhere. Bakayoko isn't an absolute world beater nor is Alex Sandro. Lukaku would get the goals that the Costa void would leave.

Moses still needs replacing and Hazard will be injured initially?

So Chelsea looking at around £150M on 2 defenders and a CM.

Would still need a Striker and another Winger.

Guess we know why Conte is about to sign that extension, got the money he wanted from Roman.

Why would they need a winger

Is 3 enough? I think you need 4, maybe if they sign a young winger who doesn't have to always start, or sign a starter and bench Pedro

Well if Sandro reports are true than Alonso is good to fill a wing spot or even Moses.

Don't get me wrong. There is a reason to be excited in your place. But, it's still only on paper. VVD (if you go for him) looks good but not proven on the highest level and in a 3 man defence. On first look, it's easier as you have 2 defenders more but it's not often the case and you need great understanding between them to work. Bakayoko is good but also positionally suspicious and Lukaku is not suited for a counter-attack.

Understand bringing Cesc in it but he is on a steady decline for a while now. If he gets in form and your both wide man give their best it could be great but I just don't see it as definite success as many here and there are still question marks with that team.

But then again, understand your optimism, they are all good/great players.

Van Dijk would be a significant upgrade on Cahill, Alex Sandro is arguably the best LB in the world currently, Bakayoko is a nice upgrade on Matic, and Lukaku isn't a red card worry every match like Costa. Won't be threatening to leave every transfer window either.

Moses would still be a weakness against the better sides. You're also right about Hazard's injury, but he should miss too much of the early season.

Significantly improved team if they all come off. Midfield will be the most important area for me.

Sandro is very good but Marcelo is the best LB in the world for me.

Just three more things, though. Sandro is not arguably the best LB in the world currently, so far you have a decent report about agreeing only 1 from 4 of your apparent targets and lastly, and I know many don't share this thought, you would be crazy imo to throw £100m on Lukaku.

We really could have have done with Griezmann; the gap in quality is widening between us and Chelsea. I'll be praying that Martial, Rashford and Mkhitaryan play out of their skin this season.
Yeah it sad that the Griezmann deal failed but its also wise to remember that Martial and Mkhi have had way better seasons than last season before in their careers so I'd be demanding, from them and Mourinho, that they get back to that level. If they do and Moratta comes then we would suddenly have a strong, quick and technical striker in addition to two potential 15 goal a season wingers, with Rashford chipping in and all that fueled by Pogba and secured by a mean defence could be enough to achieve the bare minimum.

Schürrle, Salah, Cuadrado, Moses, De Bruyne.
Other than maybe KdB and Salah all others have flattered to deceive. Moses is playing as a wing back now. He wasn't exactly pulling up trees as a winger in any club he played on loan at.

Liverpool and Arsenal wasting time bidding 100m Euros for Mbappe when higher bids have been rejected by Monaco.

No the highest average rating on fifa wins every year... that s how people are able to say 'we will finish 6th if we don't sign fabinho and get matic instead' they have run the numbers
