Twice this week the Monaco midfielder has spoken about the possibility of joining United, calling it ‘tempting’ and even being asked about his squad number on Brazilian television.
It’s a desperate tactic but it excites the online community. Fabinho is particularly popular among United fanboys who want the club to sign him as their defensive midfielder. He is ranking high on Google Trends and would be a quality addition and he’s also capable of playing at right-back, which would ease the workload on Antonio Valencia. Wow considering the overall output in defensive contribution those goal returns are impressive. Fellaini tries hard but speed wise and technical skills are far from what we are looking for.
So we could be looking here at someone who can actually consistently defend and tackle without the constant threat of yellow and reds clean up with the potential to get double figures in goals.

Why so? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just genuinely interested to know on what basis Fabinho is rated so highly here. He's better on the ball than either of them, but in terms of defensive contribution, I'm not so sure.
