Finding it difficult to believe Juventus want him as first choice full back. He's terrible going forward, in complete contrast to Alves.

He's a starter for us and a regular Italian International, We should slap a £35m price tag on him just for that. If Juventus can pay that, they can have him and it would leave us enough to look for a replacement as i'm sure we'll be getting rinsed anyway. Juventus are getting upwards of 60m for their left back so aren't out of money exactly.

I actually think Blind does a good job at LB. I might be in the minority tbf. He clearly doesn't have the pace, but he still manages to contribute to the attack well by having a better partnership with his winger than Shaw has shown so far. While he doesn't beat his man, he times his link ups and overlaps well and is probably our best crosser of the ball.
He is decent against the teams at the bottom of the table. Then he does not have to defend much and has freedom to go up the pitch and have the ball. To me, it is pretty clear that Mourinho does not see him as a good left back. After 10 games into the season, Blind lost his place in the starting 11. After that, he only got to start games against the teams in the bottom half of the table. Against better opponents, he was on the bench. This kept on going untill he was needed in the center when our center backs all got injured.

As for the crossing, I think you give him to much credit. He has had 2 assists this season, both from corners early in the season against Leicester. Last season he had 1 assist, also from a corner against Leicester. For someone who takes a lot of corners and gets to cross a lot when he plays left back against weak opponents, that is really not enough by far.

Blind started the season in the first 11 when Smalling was injured, then losing that place when Smalling returned. You can say he was thirth choice as centre back at that time. But, when Smalling and Bailly got injured, it was not Blind but Jones and Rojo who got their chance. That means, Blind dropped back to 5th choice as CB.

When Smalling returned, Shaw got injured. That moved Blind right to the left back slot, indicating he was second choice as LB. But, after 10 games he got dropped and Darmian got to play more games as left back and only the games against weak opponents were starters for Blind, indicating he dropped to thirth choice as left back as well.

All in all, you just have to sell him. He currently still represents a decent value. Based on the fact he lost ground on both his positions this season, you can safely say that he does not have the potential to ever be a solid starter for United. Just get rid of him and get someone in return who does have the potential to become a long term first team starter.

The fact that Darmian can play both LB and RB puts him ahead of Blind for me. In center back we have more then enough options. Keeping Blind as 5th or 6th choice only blocks playing time for youngsters as Tuanzebe and TFM.
I won't mind both Darmian and Blind leaving. Both are not good enough for United. It's a shame that Ricardo Rodriguez already moved to Milan. Would have been a very decent left back for us. Good going forward, much better cross and also solid in defending.

Very solid points regarding Blind.

I think the LB spot is Darmians to lose, with his only real competitor (barring injuries/suspension) is Shaw. Rojo will be out for a while but when fit, he'll be Cb cover and only used for LB if absolutely needed.

It will be interesting to see if Shaw can make the spot his own from Darmian, but with Darmians impressive end of season run and versatility I don't think we should actively try and sell him.

Surprised Juve want him to replace alves as they are different kind of full backs, but that's not for us to determine. If they want him, make them pay a very high fee

Not gonna happen if he wants to leave. He's a 15m pound player at best.

Yeah basically if he wants to move thats about what we will get for him. He's just not good enough to command a higher fee.

Talk of £20-25-30-35m is pie in the sky.

Disagree.

In demand full Italian international. If Chelsea value Ake at 20mil, then we should value Darmian at 25-30mil easy.

We don't want to sell, Juve want to buy (according to rumours), therefore they need to pay big or jog on

From what Ake has shown, he is on a level if not slightly better than Darmian and only 22. He was Bournemouth's best player when he was there and looked very good in the couple of chances he got at Chelsea. Darmian has a couple of good games in him a season, is 28 and probably on big wages.

Being Bournemouth's best player and a full Italian international and current x11 starter for Manchester united are two different levels entirely.

Seems to be a trend to massively under value our players and then whinge we don't do good business in the transfer market.

We all know Darmian isn't the best full back in the world, that doesn't mean we cant command a high fee for him! What he is worth and what we can sell him for are two different things, and seeing as we currently are not trying to sell him, then the buying club can expect a high fee as we don't wanna sell!

Juve will go back to a back four, and i think Darmian could actually do well for them, defensively anyway and offensively he doesnt need to be a world beater. He would have a great understanding with the other central defenders at Juve.

Wouldn't lose any sleep if he left. When confident he's a good defender but nowhere near good enough going forward for my liking.

fullbacks need to be 2nd wingers these days and he's far too limited. Juve would be a great option for him.

Fabinho/Semedo would be a great replacement.

I think it would be moreso a case of Cuadrado replacing Alves as the wingback when they go 3 at the back, and Darmian replacing Lichsteiner, who turns 34 in January, is out of contract in a year and is wanted by Nice, when they go 4 at the back.

All in all i find him pretty underwhelming. He's better without the ball than with it. I guess Mourinho likes him, at Chelsea he played Azpilicueta on his 'wrong' side just to shut up shop. Reminds me a bit of Darmian who also does next to nothing when going forward. Hopefully Shaw can take his place, but i don't get my hopes up yet.

Jose probably likes Darmian's versatility. It's always good to have someone who can play multiple positions in the squad. I think he'd sell Blind before Darmain, not that I'd want that.
Darmian can only play left and right fullback. Blind can play DM, LB and CB.

Blind has not played DM since his first season, after which van Gaal bought 2 new DM's. I would say that is a clear sign that he did not do very well in that position. There is absolutely no sign that Mourinho sees him as an option in DM. Pogba got subbed of a few times and Mourinho chose to bring Fosu-Mensah rather than Blind.

For CB, he started the season in the first 11 as Smalling was injured. Got droppen when he returned. Then, when both Smalling en Bailly got injured, he got passed by Rojo en Jones. Considering we also bought Lindelof and have Tuanzebe en Fosu-Mensah as well, his ability to play CB is not that valuable. On RB, we basicly only have Valencia and Darmian as natural options. That makes Darmian's ability to play RB, in my option, much more valuable than Blind's ability to play CB.

There are no absolute values associated with a player. It's all about the need to buy vs the need to sell. Morata isn't an 80mil player either by any stretch of imagination if you go by that logic, but that's what we'll need to pay to get him.

As @Craig Ward said, we'd like to keep him so if Juve want him having released their RB already and potential selling their lb for 60 fecking Mil, better not lowball us.

If we can get 15-20m for him, I would say very good business for United, he is not worth more than that.
If we do sell him I suspect the fee will me more 10-15m.

While all that is generally true clubs only tend to demand high fees beyond a players worth when they are an essential part of their team/squad and are loathed to lose them. I don't think we would be loathed to lose Darmian at all.

So if it's true that Juve want him and United aren't averse to selling plus Darmian wants to go back to Italy. Then none of that will translate to a high fee if it happens in my opinion.

My point is that there's no "worth" or "value" of a player in isolation. If Juve sell Sandro on top of losing Alves and then come shopping for Darmian, we'd be stupid to let him go cheap.

I'd be expecting 25mil, pushing for 30mil.

Full Italian international, current x11 starter for us and we are not actively looking to sell.

With the inflated prices and the fact he isn't actually for sale, the price has to be extremely high.

Ake's just gone for 20mil, use that as a guide

Darmian is a good solid option for us at left-back while we develop Borthwick-Jackson and Demi Mitchell, or alternatively, and increasingly unlikely, Luke Shaw gets his act together before Mourinho completely runs out of patience.

If he demands to leave, then Juventus should be paying us the standard fee for a player right now, which appears to be close to £30m.

No i got your point mate and i generally agree. But what im saying is i just dont see a scenario where United would demand or receive a large fee for Darmian.

For the money some of you are expecting Juve could get a far superior player. They would be mad to pay anything above 10-15m for Darmian especially considering his age.

He is fecking 27 not 37. And we paid almost 15m for him. If you think we wont make a profit on selling the starting RB for Italy to an Italian team then you are nuts.

He has asked for a transfer ( reportedly) does not want to be here ( possibly) we wont get even close to 25m

We may not get close to 25mil, but based on the reasons I have given, we should!

Yeah 27 i'm not saying he's old but he's hardly a young prospect with 10 years ahead of him either.

We bought him for £12m so a fee in the region of £15m as i've suggested would be a profit.

He is a very good defender, very versatile. What he doesnt provide in attack he more than makes up for in defense. Juventus wont miss his attacks that much. Im saying we will make a profit of at least 10m from his sale.

He's bang average on a good day, and if United make their money back, Ed Woodward should organise an open top bus parade. Good riddance.

£10m profit? They say there's one born every minute, but I would doubt they take the decisicions on transfers for Juve.

Would you have expected Van Dick's worth to be 60-70m for this window? We can definitely sell for Darmian for 25m at the very least.

To be honest it's arguable that he's even a good defender never mind a very good one mate. Fair play to him he finished the season in his best form for us but 6 good weeks don't erase almost 2 years of bad to awful performances for me. It also shouldn't be forgotten that a lot of his better games towards the end of the season came in defensive set-ups which protected him.

What he doesnt provide in attack he more than makes up for in defense.
Not a chance mate, defensively even at his best he's nothing special, he would have to be one of the worlds best to let him play with zero attacking responsibility. Its the same with an attacker, yeah you could let Messi or Ronaldo off with tracking back but nobody would be happy if Lingard or Martial didn't work to help the team defend.

Attacking is half a fullbacks job its very important for any team these days never mind one like ours that has no out and out wingers and no genuine width. Whoever plays in front of Darmian doesn't stand a chance of doing much they are double teamed all game.

Im saying we will make a profit of at least 10m from his sale.
I hope you are right mate that would be amazing. I hope we get a £20m bid for Rooney as well, but i won't hold my breath on either happening though.

Darmian is just better suited to serie a

Go watch his compilations whilst at Torino he looks brilliant, he does stuff on those videos you couldn't ever imagine , even going forward. He will thrive at Juve I'm certain.

He had some moments at the end of the season. I just don't think he's the type of player we should be playing. He's a typical backup player for Man United. Should definitely go back to Serie A.
